Worked for MDC in Long Beach CA as a Aircraft Dispatcher Flight Test Production. Before any aircraft was delivered to a customer the aircraft was put through flight test checks electrical, hydraulics, mechanical and one of the tests were stalls and hardovers. First flight was usually 3 hours long and first landing was max brakes with fire department on standby.
The stall alarm on these planes had two separate voice recordings that were used, low-pitched and a high-pitched one, which would place simultaneously during a stall. What we are hearing is only the sound of the primary stall alarm system. The secondary stall system is a lower pitched voice also saying stall. The fact that only the secondary system voice was present on the CVR of Northwest flight 255 was evidence that a certain critical circuit breaker was switched off.
Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of our flight crew we would like to welcome you onboard Spanair Flight 5022 to Gran Canaria. We would like to also mention that here at Spanair we do not use flaps for takeoff so please stay in your brace positions for the whole flight.
