      Old wood rules everyrhing. It's the 1 thing gibson wishes they could do , they can't replicate old wood. The old Honduras mahogany is great wood and had over 60 years to dry out. Next is the heart of the guitar ,the p90 pickups . Gibson doesnt do them exactly today , same goes for the pafs. Last the feel of the guitar will be diffrent, along with the Brazilian rosewood board.

    Maybe repost the unedited version of this? The editing on this video is TikTok short attention span theater with less than ideal audio (mic placement matters). • @jimtaylor55555
    @jimtaylor55555 Před 4 lety +6

    This is how it went I bet. GQ had an hour slot with Jason. The technician has audio problems that he is unaware of at the time or realizes that he has no replacement gear to fix the problem on hand. He decides to make the best of the session with what he has. After it’s done he shows it to the producer and although it is unfortunate he makes the decision to publish it this way anyway because hopefully no one will notice the crappy audio and besides Jason’s not going to do it a second time. How’s that fellas? Any thoughts. Bottom line he didn’t know till it was done and then it was to late. I forgive. These tech issues constantly come up in the business. The trick is to have back up stuff and double check everything. Live and learn .

      Your exactly right. The first time I went to Nashville in 2014 I went to Carter Vintage Guitars and they had a late 60s/ early 70s Tele that had been owned by Jason. The price was reasonable for a Tele of that era but unfortunately out of my price range at the time. I was already a huge fan of Jason’s music so I definitely would have bought if I had been able to do so. Two years later I moved closer to Nashville and shop at Carter Vintage regularly and have made some very nice purchases. One that was close to the price of that Tele. There have been many of Jason’s guitars that have been sold to Carter Vintage but everyone I’ve seen since that one Tele in 2014 has been 50s or early 60s Fenders so he obviously keeps trading up.

    Of course Jason Isbell would have excellent taste in guitars. I just think it's a bit unfair that this guy who can write a song that'll make you cry like a little girl, and sing it just right, can also play lead guitar so well. It's embarrassing.

    GQ makes a guitar video that would appeal to guitar nuts but then doesn't sync the audio with the video of the subject playing. Facepalm.

    I'm not even in a band anymore. I might jam with friends at their house during a party, me and a couple other guitar players might bring our acoustics to a fire on the beach and drink beer. Other than that I just play in my house these days..... In the past 5 years I've bought 22 guitars....😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 AND I AM NOT EVEN KIDDING AROUND!

    It is baffling that people would pay 200 to 400 grand for a Les Paul. There was no "magic" that happened at the Kalamazoo factory in the late '50's just workers slapping guitars together as they did in other years. These people that pay the ridiculous prices for these models must be hearing something that most of us guitar players can't hear. Maybe it's the " I have so much excess money laying around that I'll just spend thousands on a guitar that has a mystical secret tone. Here is the real irony of the entire fallacy and that is someone pays 200 grand for an old Les Paul which is believed to posses a magic tone then plug it in and crank up the distortion pedal so that any subtle nuances of magic tone has been obliterated by noise. The value of these guitar is conceived not reality.

      You mad? I dont understand. Maybe you dont think guitars have a spirit. You silly fool. You think a guitar is an inanimate object. Get out of here. Each instrument it's own soul. A presence. Right, you dont know the feeling. lol.
