Photographing Waterthrush Part 1: How I Set Up for the Shot With Tips for success | Nikon Z9

- In this video I take you along the banks of a beautiful forest brook to do some bird photography and search for the Louisiana Waterthrush. These are one of my favorite summer time birds in the area because they are so unique and a joy to watch and photograph. As always I take my Nikon Z9 with my 600mm lens out to capture the action. This is part 1 of this video series where I discuss my tips on finding the bird with an explanation of the habitat it prefers, and then I go into how I set up to get the shots that I am looking for. I part 2 of this mini series, I am able to capture some amazing moments without only the waterthrush, but also 2 families of common mergansers that go up and down the brook in front of me.

We got one in our creek in front of our house. We sit in the creek in lawn chairs and it will come right beside you and could careless we are even there. We don't move when it comes around, but our dogs are right on the banks and it doesn't care. Some times the further you go backup in the wilderness the more spooky and skittish they become. We have been way back in the woods to find some and they are more skittish for sure.
