I have a friend who is a former seal. While there was a lot that he couldn't talk about, what he was able to talk about was quite humbling to hear. He said the most difficult thing he ever had to do was escort his best friends body home after being killed on a mission. He said it was difficult because his friend was killed while attempting to protect him after he had been shot. My friend said if the roles were reversed he would have done the same thing because that's who the seals are...selfless. Mad respect to all seals!
The last time we've known SEALS were in Somalia, was when they recused Jessica Buchanan and some guy from Denmark, TikTok is going viral for "What were they doing there?", that shit pisses me off.
@@DGillian6406 Yeah, he really was. He's in his 50's now, but left the seals in his late 20's. He still has PTSD episodes triggered by certain sounds and sometimes while he is sleeping. He does a lot of non-profit work with vets, most of which are also from other special forces units in the military. He's the only seal I've ever met. Sorry that you don't believe me. My mom had a friend in high school who was a seal in Vietnam. He's a fire captain now, or was as of a few years ago. There was a story about him as he lost his house and almost his dog, when a wildfire wiped out the entire neighborhood he lived in a couple of years ago here in Colorado. The flagpole he had at his house was still standing after the fire. He got a new flag and it's still there today. I deployed to the Persian Gulf in 1995. In November 95 a Marine fell off the USS America. We searched for him in the Arabian Sea. He survived the fall, floated in the ocean, using his pants as a flotation device. Picked up after 3 days by a Pakistani fishing boat. Taken to their fishing village, and he called his dad. Hopefully another good story happens for these two seals.
As a Marine Corps veteran I think I can speak for most Marines. We have and have always had much love and respect for SEALS. I truly hope they find these brave men with a great story to tell their grandkids someday.
Former united state's marine. I served in Panama and navy seals stayed on our barge. Every day they dove off the top deck to swim under the barge to check for bombs .. these guys are awesome. May God be with them and send them home

This whole thing breaks my heart. I can't go into detail. But last month I did a huge exercise with the Navy Seals. These are some of the most amazing men that I have met. It was such a huge honor to take part in an exercise with such an elite team. I hope that these Seals are found and I hope that they are alive and well. I can also see the pain in your face talking about this 😢. I did 12 years in the Army and got medically retired. I didnt have a bad ass MOS. But every brother and sister in arms that paid the ultimate sacrifice kills me more and more inside.

And I’d like to say I’ve delivered sundries and parts to oil tankers in our harbor and they are the size of a city. Tens of stories high, the catwalk to get up is huge depending on where the vessel is sitting in the water. You fall off that it’s concrete man. The same impact.

God bless these men. We lost three shipmates overboard on my destroyer during a storm after we were struck by a huge wave. We never found them after two days of searching. I still think about them. The sea is an unforgiving place.

My dad was River Patrol Force in Vietnam and did insertion/extraction for the SEALs in PBR’s through 1966-1967. His respect and reverence for the SEALs is extremely high. I’m a surfer and boat captain and know how unforgiving the ocean can be… God bless these good men and prayers go out to their families and teammates.

I was Army SOF and got to tag along with the SEALs on a few of these on the way ship boarding ops. I am not ashamed to say, I was scared shitless. I have climbed a million caving ladders on dry land, and watching that ladder snap against the side of the ship appeared impossible to climb. One minute it has slack, the next minute it's whipped tight again. It was launching SEALs like a frigging rubber band. Pure Terror, was all I could think about. SEALs are the master of all when you add water to the situation. Especially, deep ocean night ops. My heart goes out to these two. Please pray for their recovery.

(2:30) I once climbed up the side of a US military ship using the wiry ladder that Chadd talks about. It was during daylight hours and the sea was calm. I wore full US infantry combat gear. I found the activity exhausting and challenging. And I did the activity during a training exercise. I can't imagine doing that activity in the environment that the two missing Navy SEALS were in.

As a Navy vet my heart and prayers go out for these seals. The sea is an incredibly humbling environment as Chadd says. At times, it is so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face along with the ocean waves throwing your boat around like a plastic bottle in the ocean, the surf spray and wind hitting you in the face to the point you can't see anything, it takes courage and skill to do what these men were doing. I pray that these men are found and that they had the ability to survive their fall into the waters and are found alive. I pray for these men's families and that their families prayers are answered.

I was at a beach in Pensacola when I was a teenager. They had the yellow, maybe red flag out- I got out too far & the current took me out. A bodyguard spotted me & came & got me & took me back in. He gave me a nasty speech about getting out too far, which I deserved. I was definitely thankful for him that day! Ocean water/currents/waves are no joke!

In 1981 my father was on The USS NImitz, and made port call in Naples Italy. As he was walking off the ship he had to walk over another drunk Marine who fell in between the ship, and barge guide. He said it was the hardest thing in the world listening to this Marine screaming for his mother, and God, and any other force to save him. After a minute or so the Marine was cut in half, and bled out. Sometimes there's NOTHING you can do, especially at night!
Ralph, I knew Hawkins and Donley for sure. Believe I knew the other ones as well. I left the ship Jan 1994. My relief came onboard around the time you arrived. Instead of letting me leave early and the command career counselor was retiring I got nominated to take over that position until the ship got a permanent one. Sit in the office with the RMCM (can't remember his last name) for my last few months onboard. Unfortunately the NC1 who retired passed away 30 days into retirement. I had to put together funeral arrangements. Sadest part was he left behind a 10 year old daughter and that was tough as I had to make arrangements for family such as ensuring they got his Survivor benefits. What division were you in. Trying to remember some of the Chief names. Knew the FCCS and MSC, HMCS very well. BMC was a character.

Chad, my prayers will go out to your SEAL brothers and their families. Being a retired Chief I was in a couple of the C-2 Greyhound (COD) squadrons that used to haul SEALs around. I have to say they always had their shit together and when they came to load up the aircraft they always had their “game faces” on. I always had the upmost respect for the SEALs.

I had a buddy fall from the ladder during a VBSS op back in the early 90's. He landed back in the RHIB and broke his back. He had surgery but it was never the same. That injury got him removed from the teams. Luckily, he was able to stay in the Navy and got disability when he retired.
Open water and hard surf is such a humbling element . I’ve been a surfer and swimmer my whole life and have been towed out to sea in a rip. I was out on my own making my way back to land as the sun was setting.. being out there , when no one else knows you are in trouble , is truly terrifying. When I heard these guys were out there I just prayed for them and have since .
I was on swim team in high school. I consider myself a good swimmer. The ocean just hits different. I started to swim out to a sandbar and chickened out almost right away. Hats off to the seals.

Former united state's marine. I served in Panama and navy seals stayed on our barge. Every day they dove off the top deck to swim under the barge to check for bombs .. these guys are awesome. May God be with them and send them home

They also wouldn't be doing if those people were not up to any good (it could be surface to air missiles to shoot down airplanes, chemical weapons, to sex slavery). You don't know why they were there, but you're alive because of people like this. Criminals wouldn't need to do what they do if everyone talked and worked things out. This whole thing breaks my heart. I can't go into detail. But last month I did a huge exercise with the Navy Seals. These are some of the most amazing men that I have met. It was such a huge honor to take part in an exercise with such an elite team. I hope that these Seals are found and I hope that they are alive and well. I can also see the pain in your face talking about this 😢. I did 12 years in the Army and got medically retired. I didnt have a bad ass MOS. But every brother and sister in arms that paid the ultimate sacrifice kills me more and more inside.

And I’d like to say I’ve delivered sundries and parts to oil tankers in our harbor and they are the size of a city. Tens of stories high, the catwalk to get up is huge depending on where the vessel is sitting in the water. You fall off that it’s concrete man. The same impact.

God bless these men. We lost three shipmates overboard on my destroyer during a storm after we were struck by a huge wave. We never found them after two days of searching. I still think about them. The sea is an unforgiving place.

My dad was River Patrol Force in Vietnam and did insertion/extraction for the SEALs in PBR’s through 1966-1967. His respect and reverence for the SEALs is extremely high. I’m a surfer and boat captain and know how unforgiving the ocean can be… God bless these good men and prayers go out to their families and teammates.
My grandpa was a Riverine as well! Told me some gnarly stories about the gunfights he was in. Went on to be an air marshall for 20 years after

I was Army SOF and got to tag along with the SEALs on a few of these on the way ship boarding ops. I am not ashamed to say, I was scared shitless. I have climbed a million caving ladders on dry land, and watching that ladder snap against the side of the ship appeared impossible to climb. One minute it has slack, the next minute it's whipped tight again. It was launching SEALs like a frigging rubber band. Pure Terror, was all I could think about. SEALs are the master of all when you add water to the situation. Especially, deep ocean night ops. My heart goes out to these two. Please pray for their recovery.

(2:30) I once climbed up the side of a US military ship using the wiry ladder that Chadd talks about. It was during daylight hours and the sea was calm. I wore full US infantry combat gear. I found the activity exhausting and challenging. And I did the activity during a training exercise. I can't imagine doing that activity in the environment that the two missing Navy SEALS were in.
I can tell by your eyes that this strikes you, As it should any human being with a heart. Im sure you wish you could be there to help yourself, As I do. But when you talk about the humbling part, when the teammate jumped in without thinking. I feel like that selflessness is understood between all true Americans, weather your military or not! As a Navy vet my heart and prayers go out for these seals. The sea is an incredibly humbling environment as Chadd says. At times, it is so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face along with the ocean waves throwing your boat around like a plastic bottle in the ocean, the surf spray and wind hitting you in the face to the point you can't see anything, it takes courage and skill to do what these men were doing. I pray that these men are found and that they had the ability to survive their fall into the waters and are found alive. I pray for these men's families and that their families prayers are answered.

I was at a beach in Pensacola when I was a teenager. They had the yellow, maybe red flag out- I got out too far & the current took me out. A bodyguard spotted me & came & got me & took me back in. He gave me a nasty speech about getting out too far, which I deserved. I was definitely thankful for him that day! Ocean water/currents/waves are no joke!
Talking about this made Chadd’s face and eyes long and sunken. I appreciate his sincerity.
If the news comes back as bad news, I will shed tears for these men. Until then, one has to be hopeful.

In 1981 my father was on The USS NImitz, and made port call in Naples Italy. As he was walking off the ship he had to walk over another drunk Marine who fell in between the ship, and barge guide. He said it was the hardest thing in the world listening to this Marine screaming for his mother, and God, and any other force to save him. After a minute or so the Marine was cut in half, and bled out. Sometimes there's NOTHING you can do, especially at night!

I left the ship Jan 1994. My relief came onboard around the time you arrived. Instead of letting me leave early and the command career counselor was retiring I got nominated to take over that position until the ship got a permanent one. Sit in the office with the RMCM (can't remember his last name) for my last few months onboard. Unfortunately the NC1 who retired passed away 30 days into retirement. I had to put together funeral arrangements. Sadest part was he left behind a 10 year old daughter and that was tough as I had to make arrangements for family such as ensuring they got his Survivor benefits. What division were you in. Trying to remember some of the Chief names. Knew the FCCS and MSC, HMCS very well. BMC was a character.

Your explanation made sense as to how easily it is to slip or be pulled off or smashed on that ship's ladder. I did not know those ladders were so flimsy -- and in a wild sea with a fully loaded down backpack and in between two boats, I get stressed just typing this , cannot even imagine We live in a coastal town with military presence so this hits the heart. .May God care for these 2 brave souls at sea during the operation. The swim buddy who jumped in after his fellow Seal is a hero - they both are, May we all try to immulate these honorable men. . I am praying they will be found alive and ok. God can do this! Yup, grew up surfing and scuba diving, your strength has nothing to do with it. All that matters is your swimming endurance and knowledge of local conditions. Falling off the side of a ship, I don't know if you would tend to be pulled into the prop or not.

Chad, my prayers will go out to your SEAL brothers and their families. Being a retired Chief I was in a couple of the C-2 Greyhound (COD) squadrons that used to haul SEALs around. I have to say they always had their shit together and when they came to load up the aircraft they always had their “game faces” on. I always had the upmost respect for the SEALs.

I had a buddy fall from the ladder during a VBSS op back in the early 90's. He landed back in the RHIB and broke his back. He had surgery but it was never the same. That injury got him removed from the teams. Luckily, he was able to stay in the Navy and got disability when he retired.

Open water and hard surf is such a humbling element . I’ve been a surfer and swimmer my whole life and have been towed out to sea in a rip. I was out on my own making my way back to land as the sun was setting.. being out there , when no one else knows you are in trouble , is truly terrifying. When I heard these guys were out there I just prayed for them and have since .
You're so right. Unless you've played in the waves, you just have no idea how powerful the water is. Humbling is the right word.

I was on swim team in high school. I consider myself a good swimmer. The ocean just hits different. I started to swim out to a sandbar and chickened out almost right away. Hats off to the seals.
@@eclark9965 Humans are weak in water, you only need a very mild current and even the best swimmer is screwed. Always respect the sea.
