  • The Kerala government on Sunday formed a team of high-ranking police officers to look into allegations of sexual misconduct raised against prominent figures in the Malayalam film industry in the aftermath of the release of the Justice Hema Committee report on issues faced by women working in the field.
    On Sunday, actor Siddique resigned as the general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) and director Ranjith quit as the chairperson of Kerala Chalachitra Academy in the wake of allegations raised against them.
    The Chief Minister’s Office said CM Pinarayi Vijayan convened a high-level meeting of police officers to discuss the situation in the wake of the allegations.
    A seven-member team of police officers, led by IG Sparjan Kumar, was formed to look into the complaints and revelations. ADGP H Venkatesh will oversee the probe. Four of the seven-member team will be women IPS officers.
    The Hema Committee report, which had been with the state government for the last four-and-a-half years, was released last week after several rounds of legal battles in court as well as at the State Information Commission.

    Selja has complained that all party campaigns are focused on the Hoodas. There have been a series of ads by the Congress featuring the Hoodas prominently. Selja has accused the Hoodas of monopolizing the campaign. The Hoodas are pushing for a lion's share in ticket distribution. Congress' top leadership has reached out, emphasizing that everyone will have to fight together. Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are expected to meet with them soon. The screening committee meeting for ticket distribution is scheduled for the today at 10am.
    Amit Malviya has highlighted the growing turmoil within Haryana Congress following the election announcement. He pointed out the rivalry between the Hoodas and Kumari Selja, with both camps vying for leadership. Malviya noted that Selja's supporters have put up posters across the state, causing significant displeasure in the Hooda camp. He questioned why Haryana's public should suffer from Congress's internal strife, contrasting it with BJP's decisive governance over the past decade.
