- This video about my Sportsman’s Warehouse tiny Mega Haul. I was able to purchase over $275 in Fishing equipment for less than $150. Now that $275 includes items I purchased that were on sale and the $50 coupon that I can redeem and spend as cash in early November 2022. Yes it is possible that I can purchase an item or a series of items that are less than $50 but their full retail price is more than $50, which will allow me to realize an even greater savings. That Phenix Feather Rod will become my flipping, pitching, and punching rod. This rod is only 3.1 ounces but is rated to handle up to 1 3/4 ounce weight. I am going to test it 🤣. I am confident say that the Feather series is as light and sensitive as my $625 NRX+. Love the Feather series, if they put cork in the handle, it'll be a game changer. I'm surprised it took you this long to own one. I also own the phenix M1, I'll take the feather with my anyday of the the week over my M1. Can't wait to watch you full review on the rod!
Knowing what I know now, I can confidently say, "I agree with you" regarding the NRX+ and the Feather series. Oh yeah, I should have purchased one at least a year ago. In the upcoming review I will go into some detail as to why it took so long. Thanks for watching the video. 🤣 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

Reeeaaalllyyy appreciate the extra time you hold them up, it always gets on my nerves when people flash it super fast(if at all) and I have to sit and try to pause it in the 1/10th of a second they show it.
You are very welcome. It was a conscious decision of mine to hold items up for a few extra seconds, for the same reasons that you identify as a problem in other videos. For some reason other producers, don’t realize that we’re constantly looking at the item that we’re wanting to display and forget that when your eyes see it, you see the item for the first time and you need time for your eyes to settle on the details. Thank You Very Much! Our weather will be in the 70's - 90's through mid December. right now my son is throwing the rig in open water. Hopefully that will lengthen the time that he will be throwing the rig before it ultimately does snag. He is already found out the throwing chandeliers is tiring, lol! 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

I just ordered the same rod from Tackle Warehouse. Intending to use it for the same things you mentioned, plus 6 inch Megabass Magdrafts. I don't have the skills/confidence in baitcasting rigs, so I'm hoping this spinning rod is the ticket for heavier baits.
I suspect you will be very successful with rod. Baits heavier than 1.5oz get into specialty techniques. So unless you were getting into heavy, swim, baits, or punching with 2+ ounces of weight, there’s no need to even consider a baitcast combo. With what reel will you pair it? 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
@familybudgetfisherman considering that I'll be doing some pitchin, flippin and punching, I'm going with the Abu Garcia Revo RKT... It's the fastest spinning reel on the market to my knowledge. It's got a 7.6:1 gear ratio and it takes up something like 42" of line per turn on the 30 size. I had the previous version, the Revo Rocket, which was almost as fast and it was a great reel until I decided to disassemble it beyond my own abilities like an 8 year old! LOL
Now that is funny!!!😂. I didn't know about the Revo RKT. I just looked it up. I may purchase one as well. My only resistance is that loud color. LOL! 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

The reel seat is the same as the megabass P5 series ! I thought it was a Windbuster at first !
(Corrected First Sentence) You have a great eye for detail! I had to look it up once you mentioned it though. I definitely agree. I have noticed that these rods in the two $125-$300 category are trying to compete against the $500+ rods. So it is possible that the reel seat is purposely designed to be so similar, that it would be hard to tell them the difference without design differences, or labeling. LOL! 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
@@familybudgetfisherman even the weight is very close between the Feather and the megabass P5 windbuster . The windbuster has the titanium guides and I guess the feather has the same , maybe the difference is in the rod blank as I know that the megabass P5 have 5 different carbon layers in woven on the blank to make them have a different reaction to the load , the more load fighting the fish the more power the rod gives
Excellent followup! Yes they both have the same guides. Phenix modified them just to call them "custom", lol. Although they have different rod blanks, the sensitivity and strength of both of them are near parity. Again, I am impressed with your insight on these rods. Why would I pay $475 for a P5 if I could essentially get that same experience with a Feather. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
@@familybudgetfisherman hehe If I have seen your review a few months earlier , I wouldn't have bought the windbuster. But I got it from Japan a bit cheaper and still is an amazing heavy drop shot rod, especially fighting 4-5 lbs smallmouths, they fight hard but the more they fight the more the rod seems to have power. First time I feel that.. thank you for your reviews and your honesty on youtube. Salutations from Canada.
I own a bunch of them. Thought about getting the heavy action. I found that my other feathers are light for there action. How stiff is that blank?
I most definitely agree. It is still a little light for the action. However, I have been successful at throwing baits up to 1 1/2oz with no problem. I have not gone up to the rated 13/4oz. Of course I don’t snap cast, lol, I load very slowly😂😂 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
I pair my feather rod with my aldebaran 51hg. Literally a 7oz as a combo. Light as a feather for real 😁

Can the heavy through meduim side spoons and rapalas and is it good ? Or should I get meduim for 20 pound trout 🎉
You should be able to through heave spoons, (such as jigging spoons) for trout and catch them. I would get at least a Medium Heavy because you will need a stiffer tip. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

That’s how you learned that I am a preacher.
