  • Kelmti Horra, meaning "my WORD is free," is a song in favor of freedom, a song that was taken up by Tunisian revolutionaries and young people everywhere searching for hope, dignity and self-determination in an increasingly difficult world.
Inspired by the anthem, the Nobel Peace Prize Committee invited Emel Mathlouthi to perform it live at Oslo City Hall, during the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. First-ever performance of a young musician at this solemn and historic ceremony; first-ever performance of an Arabic-language piece at the same.
    KELMTI HORRA
    Emel Mathlouthi
    performed with Guitarist Karim Attoumane
Oslo City Hall, Dec 10th 2015
    Lyrics: Amin El Gozzi
    Music: Emel Mathlouthi

Emel Mathluthi - My Word is Free
I am those who are free and never fear
I am the secrets that will never die
I am the voice of those who would not give in
I am the meaning amid the chaos
I am the right of the oppressed
That is sold by these dogs (people who are dogs)
Who rob the people of their daily bread
And slam the door in the face of ideas
I am those who are free and never fear
I am the secrets that will never die
I am the voice those who would not give in
I am free and my word is free
I am free and my word is free
Don't forget the price of bread
And don't forget the cause of our misery
And don't forget who betrayed us in our time of need
I am those who are free and never fear
I am the secrets that will never die
I am the voice those who would not give in
I am the secret of the red rose
    Whose color the years loved
    Whose scent the rivers buried
    And who sprouted as fire
    Calling those who are free
I am a star shining in the darkness
I am a thorn in the throat of the oppressor
I am a wind touched by fire
I am the soul of those who are not forgotten
I am the voice of those who have not died
Let's make clay out of steel
And build with it a new love
    That becomes birds
    That becomes a country/home
    That becomes wind and rain
I am all the free people of the world put together
    I am like a bullet
I am all the free people of the world put together
    I am like a bullet

This song would bring tears of pride onto my eyes every time I come cross it.
I remember listening to your song Emel during the overwhelmingly strong moments of our revolution against dictatorship.. I was still living back then in my beautiful city Gafsa. Your song was playing in our small family home every day while bullets were going on outside. I remember how we had to keep our windows closed and our house dark so the snipers wouldn’t figure the shadows of who’s staying inside.
My father and brother were spending the night out with other neighbors to make sure that our area is protected, our small house hosted few neighbors and children so that we would stick together in case anything bad happens. This song was so empowering and inspirational at the moment we needed it the most ❤️❤️ Now that I live overseas, I still listen to your song every single time and let my mind travel back to these days and feel proud with what we Tunisian people have realized. We as a nation still have a lot to do, but at least we made it clear to the whole universe That our word is finally free.
And the best is yet to come Inshallah 🇹🇳🇹🇳♥️

I first listened to you on a Kurdish TV channel (Roj TV) in March 8, Women's Day event in 2010. Two years later, you came to my city (Batman) to give a concert, we visited Hasankeyf together, we sang songs together, then you sent your first album from Paris to Batman, for me. Then you invited to the Istanbul Babylon concert and we had a good time both at the concert and after the concert. During the revolution in your country, you went to your country and at the forefront, you sang songs with the revolutionaries for your people. Then you performed those songs with a great performance at the Nobel Prize Ceremony. You came to the points you deserve even if it is slow and I am very happy for you and I am proud of you. But I have bad news for you, the world is still full of evil and they have destroyed Hasankeyf by flooding it. Despite everything, I love you 'Angel Voice' ...
I hope you remember me :)
