I hope future games will involve the great houses like House Davion or the Capellan Confederation.This is set before the fourth succession war in 3028.
Such a good ending for a MW/BT game. Most of the earlier games had pretty "meh" anti-climatic games other than being really good in their own right.
"A 'hero', huh? Gotta say, that's a new one, though it rolls off the tongue nicely enough I guess. But really, at the end of the day I'm just a merc out for money. Maybe I'm a better one than most; doing my best to look out for my own and keep to a contract to the end, and maybe that makes be better than some out there. Maybe in some other time, in another life, I would've been something different, something better. But as it stands, I can't say I'm unhappy with what I've got now.
As for helping you.....well, you came at me when me and my crew were in a tight spot and needed the money. Though I'll admit this one was a bit more personal than most. Maybe that's why I was so willing to jump in and stay, even when things looked bleaker than ever. Even when Sammy dropped down on us in that huge ship of his to blow us up.
Just to repay a favor to an old man who saw something in me nobody else did and gave me a chance.

I loved the story in this game. and Kamea really radiates with me because I believe those with power must be held to a Much MUCH higher standard then those without. and clearly she learns that in the end.

This game was BA and Kamea was an excellent protagonist!
The consequences of her action is that any faction at any given time is allowed to declare war and use weapons of mass destruction. This was to prevent factions to use them since the Terra alliance was very liberal on using mass destruction weapons during the civil war in attempt to scare factions from leaving the star league.
@@robertagren9360what? This is battletech 90% of the inner sphere is constantly at war. Taurian Concordat renounced their rogue commander, Cannopus supports Aurigan independence, and Merik is too busy fighting itself to care. Only concern might be House Liao, but it’s (at this point in time) getting wrecked by both Merik and Davion.
Edit: also that isn’t how BT lore is. The orbital defense cannon isn’t mass destruction. Warships are and the only reason they aren’t used is because there may be like 4 left and that blowing up planets during the first secession war started this mess. Note the mass destruction weapons were used by the houses not Star League.

Did I die when they forsake their ties to the Hegemony and it's worlds to leave for a region unknown? Did I die when misfortune took my family and I was cast out to the uncaring void of space alone? Did I die when the man who gave me a second chance told me to eject to near certain doom? Did I die when I fled the Reach, leaving it's people behind while I was left to choke and die by the system?
No, I chose death serving under the Restoration because I saw the Reach as the place that gave me so many chances to die yet never allowed me to die until it was an opportunity to prove that I chose a death worthy of a place I once called home. I fought alongside what many thought would be another Richard Cameron who was slain by Amaris but proven to be stronger than the man who caused the Star League to fall. Perhaps this would be the place I will die, either watching the Restoration fall or the Directorate share the fate of Amaris.
But yet I still live, perhaps for good reason, to inspire stories in those who will walk my footsteps one day that they can die for something they believe in.

I still think about this game
I remember almost feeling offended when the game questioned if I did it for money. As much as I realized it's just a game, I strongly aligned with the goals of the Aurigan Restoration, and the Directorate were so clearly monsters to be put down.
Maybe I'm a big softie, but my favorite stories from this franchise were always the small names of history-the forgotten who sacrificed themselves, minds, bodies, and souls, to save the little people of the Inner Sphere. It's hard to put yourself in the shoes of a legend or a monarch, but it's easier, and perhaps wiser, to put yourself into the shoes of someone who is just another bulwark among thousands for the people they care about. Sure, the fighting's fun, but it's fighting for the people that makes the work worth it.
Yeah, I've not played the game myself but I'm aware of enough of the story to understand that the Uncle is completely unredeemable in the story. Honestly I kind of wish they'd made them less evil because at least on the surface they're right. The other houses of the Sphere are always hungry for fresh conquest and a small border fiefdom preaching peace, love and friendship is easy pickings for such voracious giants. Plus, what does the new Queen think the Canopies helped her for? Goodwill? Honor between women? No, they saw a broken and desperate princess who still yet had a chance to reclaim her throne and if their gamble to sponsor her reclamation paid off, they'd have quite a few strings to pull in Kamea's court to get what they want in the future.
So after you beat the game you get that sweet atlas as a gift and can do anything you want..... But is there anything interesting to do? Is there new tech or mechs you can get or new missions?

I've just finished it today.
I salvaged two medium pulse lasers on the wrecks of Victoria's lance, after the final battle. Way too easy, tho'. 4 v 4 mechs and Cousin Victoria didn't engage all her mechs at once... I just took them apart. She was piloting a King Crab, and her lance consisted of 1 Jagermech, 1 Awesome and 1 Banshee. I had 2 Highlanders, 1 Grasshopper and Kamea's Atlas II.
When the game ended on Coromodir, I went to the shop and found a different type of heatsink, a Thermal Exchanger. It sheds 10% of total heat from your mech. I guess it'll come in hand on my energy-heavy mechs.
I saved the game setting repairs for my mechs, and then visited all the high-level planets in Davion, Liao and Taurian space. None of them offered particularly interesting tech, so I'm gonna reload (no point in wasting money just for the sake of exploring local markets). I did try a mission in the Taurian Concordat capital, against Davion forces, but Davion fielded 8 assault mechs, including a Stalker. So there's a little bit of content to be had, still.
I haven't visited any of the "Former Star-League presence" planets looking for exotic components yet... I guess that's what'll I'll be doing soon.

I have about 4 Annihilators (sp?) and 5 or 6 Atlas's, along with about 47 million C-Bills. Including myself, I have 8 pilots with maxed out skills. Still have the Atlas II. Some of the missions have gotten a bit old, but there are still others that can be a bit of a challenge. I think I've been 'in game' for about 1100 days.
Kamea is too hard on herself.
I'm getting Game of Thrones and The Expanse vibes from this ending.
How? Battletech's ending isn't hot garbage.

The Battletech universe is DYING to be remade into a large franchise like Game of Thrones. I've been a decade long fan and wonder why it has not been done.
@@rock3793 , the political intrigue and maneuvering to take back the throne even with the use of some war-based technology even though Battletech uses giant robots and the expanse just use capital ships. Yes, game of thrones last season is garbage due to D&D (David and Dan aka dumb and dumber).
I have always said that Battletech is like Game of Thrones but in space, and everybody's got dragons (Mechs). Thing is not everyone is willing to unleash them willy nilly, until they do and all hell breaks loose. Also it hasnt ended yet, and it has plenty of mini-stories within with great "endings", which is a win overall over GoT.
