Ducati Scrambler Heated Grips Hack: OEM functionality with aftermarket heated grips

I wanted to be able to use Ducati's built in heated grip functions, but didn't want to pay $500 for the grips, install, and activation! I found a way to have the best of both worlds, OEM Ducati functionality with much more affordable aftermarket heated handgrips.
I also had a bit of fun with my first "click bait" style CZcams video. What a joke. I couldn't care less about likes and subscribers, I just wish there was more content out there for how to do things yourself on the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled.

I had the OEM grip warmers installed by Ducati shortly after purchasing my 2018 Desert Sled. Used them for my winter rides to work. After talking to other riders with other brands of heated grips, I have concluded the OEM Ducati heated grips don't put out the heat like other brands. In fact, my hands are still cold during winter rides. Almost a waste for me to have the Ducati OEM heated grips installed. Wish I would've went with another brand.

Excellent, you answeres my question if I can connect aftermarket heating grips and controll them with the handlebar button. I have the new Ducati heated grips now, but they have a very slow acceleration, I searched the old version like you but cant find them.

And since you already have the heated grips activated on your bike, you won’t have to pay the $80 activation fee again!

Good job! I’m looking for Oem warmers for my DS and had no idea the additional cost to get them activated after installation.

Thanks! Yeah I was surprised as well to learn about the activation cost, but it is very convenient to have the OEM controls, so hopefully this video can help save some people money with their Scramblers.

I believe so, but an easy way to check is to take off the cover on the right side underneath the gas tank and the wires should run right under the cover. They will have the “heated grips” stickers right on the wires. If you see that, you should be golden!
