DIY Fascia and Soffit Install for a 10x12 Shed

- Installing soffit and fascia on the 10x12 shed is an important step in getting this building done. The fascia that we are using here is called Miratec. It is pre primered to make painting easy and has good weather resistance. These boards go along the vertical ends of the roof. The soffit is an OSB product with slits cut into it that allow air flow from the space between rafters.

For sure! Anything that I build will have imperfections. Sometimes finding a way to hide them is the skill or art.
I find all these details to be the hardest part of construction. The shed is looking good!
The basic framing goes up nice and fast. These smaller details start to slow things way down.

I was talking to my friend Sam at green acre homestead and he had just gotten a hat. I thought they were really nice so I got one too! I like it. Although the black is going to get construction dust on it real fast.

A masonry blade on a skil saw will cut fiberboard just fine,and compared to specialized blades just for Hardie, are about 1/3 the cost. Regardless....it is cheaper than an ER bill after you slice your hand open!
Please tell me there is some screen on the back side of those slits? Otherwise won't this become prime real estate for all types of bug nests?
There is no screen on this. The slits are small enough to keep out wasp And bees. It is possible some small insects could get in there.
Very useful video. Thanks! It looks like your rafter ends were not plumb. Am I correct? -- I am considering doing the same for my wip cabin. EDIT: I think I found my answer (plumb cut) at 3:17, at least for the bottom edge. :)
Thank you. Yes the ends of the rafters could have used a little trim. One of the down sides to making diy rafters is that they might have some inconsistencies in length.
Why didn't you use F channel to hold the soffitt and then nail it to the facia with brad nails?
Where did you find the soffit?
Several local hardware stores carry this. Not sure about lowes. Sometimes they have a similar product.
