Actually he never really "shot up". In fact, he knew that Burr was planning on killing him genuinely in the duel. He didn't intend any harm so he decided to purposely miss.

@@zoehartless3521 haha yea the actual founding fathers were VERY complicating. Washington was lowkey awesome but he still owned slaves :/ and gave them the *bare minimum* :( Burr was kinda decent but he did have a long affair with a married women and never had views on ANYTHING. I mean he also killed hamilton, bragged about it, was a wanted felon for that and for something else many years later, lost his daughter to the sea, and never actually regretted killing Hamilton until he was very old. Hamilton was... well.. a smart guy. Like very very smart. He wrote a ton of words and was a master manipulator. He loved Eliza but he also cheated on her for 2 straight years. I mean at least he helped create our country. Jefferson was a very smart and decent guy, or at least we thought he was until historians found out about his affair with his slave Sally Hemings. She was 14 and he was 44 when he made her pregnant. I don't count it as consent since she was "his property" at the time(which is really horrible). So yea he was against slavery but was very hypocritical about it. I do think that Jefferson and Hamilton are really complex people and I would absolutely love to just get to have a discussion with them. Unfortunately, they died very *VERY* long ago. I still love Washington. Even though he made mistakes, he owned up to them and changed his views. though nobody should have his original view when it comes to slavery if they're a decent human being. omg I'm so sorry I ended up just writing a history of each of them XD. If you can't tell, i went past the play and researched them individually lmao.

LilacInk sure it would be nice if she still had her father but she's married and back then you needed your father until you were married, then your husband took over. And having an a twenty year old grown woman be an orphan is not as bad as having seven underage children not have a father either. And Burr wouldn't have died because Ham wasn't going to shoot. So it's either 1. kill someone you've disagreed with in the past but was still your good friend or 2. both survive and live long happy lives. Your decision.

IRL Burr did turn out to be vice president and that wasn't when he dueled Alex. He dueled him after he wanted to become governor of NYC and Alex was like "Nope he sucks, doesn't deserve it, Burr isn't trustworthy." Burr wasn't elected to be governor (Even though he was vice at the time), challenged him to a duel, killed Alex, gloated about it, ended his political career, by some bullshit law back in the day didn't serve time for committing murder. Went to Europe for a while only to return to America... Fuck this shit I ain't doing the life of Burr, He killed my boy Alex ;-;

This isn't mentioned but Hamilton and Elizabeth almost never got married. The Schylers lost there family home to a fire and didn't have the money to rebuild it. To rebuild the families money Catherine Schyler (Mummy Schyler) tried to marry Eliza to a rich man. The man screwed up and basically tried to sexually assault Eliza when he was drunk the night before the wedding. Eliza got scared and Hamilton stopped him from hurting Eliza. Hamilton rode to the Schyler house (Eliza was staying with her auntie at this time) to convince them to stop the wedding. They agreed. Elizabeth and Alexander were married pretty quickly after it.

However these lines didn't make it into the play (im talking about 'ten things you need to know' not 'the world was wide enough' btw) Hamilton mentions that a sense of calmness fills him because of this. I dont think he expected to die, I wouldn't consider it suicide.
