Damn, that v16 screams like an electric motor on steroids.
electric motors dont make that much sound. little to none. pretty much f1 electric cars make some sound but that is very very little
Ameraldas and that is why they suck
Uh you high bro?? Some of those racing electric motors are extremely loud, and sound amazing.
"electric motors dont make that much sound. little to none. " Do you have ever been on an electric bus? They are pretty loud.
ansaree97 lol does it
That V16 makes me want to hear more tiny-displacement-but-high-cylinder-count engines...
Someone pleasy hurry up with that 1.6L V24!
Just search for 'V16 BRM' from 1952, Supercharged 1.5L V16. Evil.
im workin on it ok
Theres that one 6-cyl Honda motorcycle
1l v32
S denton .5L V64
The peugeot 205's sounds reminds me of an electric RC car with a tight gearing.
That was my first thought too
I actually have an RC Car with a 4 tight gear ratio and it sounds just like this. It's a tripple brushless motorized 1/4 RC vehicle thats meant for touring tho I am forced to run 2 6000mAh Lipo batteries but the inside is so cramped and crammed together for how much work I put into it.
Occasionally I have to replace the 1st gear since it strips the teeth because if I go full throttle, it eats the 2nd as well but it's a open gearbox with straight cut gears..
It reminds me Gran Turismo 4
I suspect that most of that noise was the gearbox. Many rally cars have straight cut gears in their transmission rather than helical cut as straight cut offer a lot more strength compared.
This is offset by the large amount of whining noise that they produce. Not a problem for rally, but for production cars they are too noisey, hence helical cut in a standard cars transmission.
Like Formula e gen 2
That v16 sounds so terrifying yet so good
It’s actually a rotary..
@@scoobysisco9079 Except that it's not a rotary...
This car has a rotary in it now, but the engine you see in this video is a v16.
Not terrifying at all it sounds l7ke a rc car

Imagine being chased by that Peugeot: A fucking nightmare. Scary af.
Yeah, it sounds like a banshee!

You're in the woods, in a misty morning. walking alone and you hear the scream of an RC car coming behing you. You question yourself, who would that be playing a toy car in the woods? Then the sound gets louder and louder. It's roaring in your ears, your hair on your skin starts to rise itself and you can feel gush in your head. The Peugeot 205 V-16 is behind you. Racing against its time. You had no choice but to run fast and find cover before it hits you.
@@sonyviva308 Thats what I was talking about 😰
that Peugeot sounds like every maxed out car in Gran Turismo 3
Nah, GT6.
And gt1 and gt2 and gt3 and gt4 and gt5 and gt6 and gt sport let's be honest
@@baileyclarke1338 over exaggeration
Maybe a little bit

It's not just the engine that makes the nice noices. Don't forget the straight cut gears that makes it sound so... racing...
Exactly, I think that was most of the sound
This ^ ^ ^
That’s precisely where the noise is coming from. If you ever fancy a spell in the sanatorium, fit a dog box to your daily driver! Laughing all the way to the madhouse 🤪🤪🤪
Or undercut and coated!
NovaLand fuck it. take my money on that fucking hollinger 6spd seq.
@@mactheknife4786 You can always drive in reverse on your daily to hear the straight gears
I will say that the v16’s echoing screams approaching out the forest is quite terrifyingly cool.
1:24 sounds like an RC car :P
Haha my thoughts exactly 😆
Absolutely! 1/1th scale;-)
Made by Traxxas, probably brushless
yep, i tought the same thing!
It has straight cut gears in the transmission

Man that 205 really does 437 BHP NA ? That is absolutely insane, more than 200 BHP per liter NA is never heard of except in F1 ...
Or every 600cc supersport production streetlegal 4-banger...
TheThunderwars it’s actually fairly common in modified cars.
@@CuteEvie 200hp/liter is not common in N/A engines (cars not bikes).
top of the line 2L N/A builds tend to peak at 360-380hp, and those are LMP tier V8 and V6s. 4 cylinders would top out around 240-290.
purely because they cant rev as high due to stroke length.
were are talking CAR engines @david hill
The v-16 Peugeot sounds like an electric engine with an insane supercharger
Don’t ask me how that works
By some kind of electric capacitor turbo booster, of course!
Alternator lol
Part of the sound is the straight cut gears
Issa sound like a RC car
Did u just describe a vacuum cleaner
That 205 screams like a Banshee. Such a cool sound. Never heard an engine sound that way before. Has an almost electric sound to it.
That rally car sounded like a RC car XD

OMG thanks for using my Fabia video, literally jumped out of my chair when i saw my video. That Fabia is a 6v 53 HP driven by my grandparents. Soon to be my first car. And yes, it sound horrible.
Thanks a lot for using my video! :)
My first car was a VW polo that had that exact same engine. Had 0-60 of 17.5s and that's out the factory. As a petrol head i nearly went insane.
Now i have 1.6FSI 0-60 of 10secs, still slow :P
I have a Renault Clio first gen model. It's not fast but gets from A to B, sort of... It doesn't go straight, pulls to the right and idles too high :') But I love her even with her faults. Had 59 kW of power as new. Propably has lost a lot of those. xD
Car_Guy you better get it turbocharged or swap a Honda engine in it.
i got one too, atleast it works, but mine kinda looks cool cause i lowered it :)
Are numere de Ro ba=))
I love that your videos are getting more and more technical. Please keep on going in that direction, your channel has become something truly special.
The Peugeot sounds like a power-wheels from hell.
5:36 lol that guy is having a good time!
Imagine cutting the lawn
Cutting the lawn with that? Would take 1 minute
That 205 is the best thing I've ever seen
That Renault EF V6 when revved up, sounds absolutely glorious.
So you finally featured that sweet, sweet V16 205 !
Keep up the good work, your channel is great.
Cheers man
I know this is an older video, but this is one channel I’ve kept coming back to for probably 6-7 years. Such a simple, clear, no B.S. format of videos.
I’m surprised you’re only at half a million subs. I’d expect you to have more than that. I guess the channel is still a bit of a hidden gem.
My dad heard your intro at 0:29 and said “that sounds like porn music”
o_o
Lol yeah 80s porno
Wait how tha f does he know that
I've noticed that your english has improved quite a bit! Congrats and keep up the awesome vids :DD
This channel keeps suprising me with things i never knew before, keep up the great creativity in your videos!👍
The peugeot actually sounds quite amazing very unique
That v16 is so freaking beautiful I want to cry...
Really interesting video, just a tip: don't credit the original clips under your logo, put them on the other side, they aren't very visible
DDT or at the annotations
Very interesting video. Fantastic
I love your videos! I’m obsessed with exhaust sounds and you keep putting out great car content. Good job!
The buick 3800 is a very popular motor in Australia, put in the base model GM owned Holden commodores. At eny time of day you can hear what we discribe as "MANG" (One of those v6s heading toward or on the limiter). Always makes me smile.
1:25 the sound you hear when someone is about to hit your shins with an rc car
6:27 sounds really good in my opinion
Right I was like damnn regular f1 sounds weirder lol
In our family we've had two cars with that amazing 3 cylinder Skoda fabia engine. Tbh I love them to bits
You put out some quality videos. I always learn something. Thanks a bunch.
I love the 3800 v6, such an underrated engine
Agreed
MachineFreaks sadly it’s out shined buy GM’s V8’s. I love them though. Very tough and reliable engines.
I love the growl they have, I know the Chevy 4.3 was the most successful of the GM 90 Degree V6 (GMC Safari Owner here) but after the discontinuation of the S10 platform you only ever saw them in base model Silverados and Sierras and lets face it, when do you ever see a poverty spec full size pickup these days, hell even most fleet pickups end up with the 5.3 Vortec. The new Ecotec 4.3 seems like a decent engine but it will never see much use due to it being relegated to poverty spec trucks and the odd fleet truck, I'd love to see GM take a page out of history and make a modern version of the GMC Cyclone and Typhoon with a Turbo 4.3 but that'll never happen, the closest thing we have now is the reintroduction of the ZR2 package in the Colorado, but that only has a non turbo 3.6 or a 2.8 Duramax. Even if Buick brought back the GNX and the Regal T Type it would probably get one of the 50 flavors of LS (admittedly that would be pretty badass), and would be just another Camaro with a funny badge. 90 degree V6s are bad ass in my books but due to the public perception of them being "derivative", "low tech", and less compact, they were pushed to the side and replaced by turbo I4s and 60 degree V6s
Doug Payne Syclone
Not agreed
The ‘screaming’ from the 16-cylinder Pug 205 is more the dog box than the engine really. Love your vids brother, keep up the good work.
Mac The Knife It's not a 16 cylinder engine, it's a four cylinder 16 VALVE engine. 2 litre R4 turbo 16 valve. You can google peugeot 205 T16. It wasn't actually even a true 2 litre but a 1775 cc engine.
205 also didn't use dog cut gears. It had a citroen sm transmission which was a full synchromesh design.
This channel is great. You get so much obscure, esoteric stuff!
The Citroën C2 VTR/VTS with the TU5, the intake sounds like a jet engine. Very fun.
Why do I hear five cylinder-ish sounds from single cylinder 10hp motorcycles?
RS 390 because those are 125cc bikes which rev from 8 to sometimes 12k (4 strokes)
I heard an old Daelim Daystar pass by and it sounded like a straight piped B16 although it was only a single cylinder 125
@@ChoboUnjeon old bikes are LOUD. Check out some of Hondas race bikes they made in the 60's.
Four stroke engines
Big single cylinder bikes sound incredible, so much grunt. Check out the Husqvarna Nuda 900, it's insane sounding!
Early nineties Indy Kart Turbo V-8 engines used to fire two cylinders at the same time, making them sound like a big four. Maybe you could do a video on that and other weird firing orders? Thank you for sharing.
Ha wow! I just came here from a video of that same 205 when it had the B20 (triple rotor) engine. Wild. That 205 has been around!
I like most of these videos. This is the best one I've seen maybe ever. Great work!
Somehow I've expected the Audi S1 Quattro from the group b^^ Sound was unique!
That's cause it's only run on 5 cylinders. Gives it that unique note.
6:22 I remember it from Project Cars. Got some boost lmfao
MineLine26 oh hell yea
98T TURRRRBOOOOOO
I cant go two minutes without spinning out in AC lol
That's a 98T. The one on the video is the 97T
Close though, not too different! Only slightly modded aero
That lotus 97t has the most beautiful sound ever 😍
Thanks, I learned something very interesting today.
Fiat TwinAir is pretty funky-sounding too. And I believe it's currently the only 2-cylinder engine in a production car?
yes and its terrible.
Really? What's so bad about it?
@@Maxx2k8 efficiency
@@ControversialOpinion why do you think its garbage?
Super quiet, especially when being pushed, the default mode for a fait
When Chevy first developed their 90 degree V6 it was also a 3.8L like Buick's and used a semi even fire crank with an 18 degree offset pin which was a compromise between smoothness and strength. Later this became the 4.3L even fire V6 which was and still is a very popular powerplant.
And eventually that shitty Buick v6 made its way to the other side of the Pacific and powered two generations of Holden Commodore. Horrible nasty unreliable motor.
@@aussieausdeutschland4245 Yea it sucked until the 3800 revision when they put the pistions centered on the journals and used a crank driven oil pump. But the 3.8L Turbo was pretty sweet too.
I remember seeing footage of that 205 when it had it's 20B, absolutely mental.
Dude I have to admit I really enjoy your vids.
You share a lot of interesting stuff. Thanks
That Suzuki RE5 sounds like a two stroke bike :D
Wankels are pretty similar sounding to 2 strokes as they fire 3 times for 1 revolution of the excentric shaft, and a 2 stroke piston engine fires 1 time for 1 revolution of the crankshaft.
That's because they have exhaust ports that are opened the same way as a 2-stroke engine, no valves
I would love to have an airplane engine in a lawnmower or go-cart.
That Peugeot sounds INSANE !!!!!!
That Renault EF-Type does have a 3 cylinder sound to it, that’s cool.
I saw this go around brands hatch quite a few years ago when I was younger, don’t remember it sounding like that though.
the most funky sound is..pug 205....its like RC car...
4:10 It looks like the 1.2 engine of my Grandmother's Polo. Is it the same engine?
Yes :) VW putted the same engine into Polo and Fabia
It is... The fabia had the same chassis... The latest fabia has the same chassis as the latest Polo too
@@MaurettoCZ *Put not "pUtTeD"
that tiny v16 sounds hilarious. like the car's tires are always screeching.
the F1 cars where my favorite part. I had no idea certain ones sounded like rally cars. im so used to seeing the high pitched ones on T.V. growing up.
4:27, that sounds just like my BMW E46 325i :o how the hell?
3cyl and 6 cyl sound pretty similar
R6 is just doubled R6 so you know, same as some R5 souds similar to V10 and R4 sound like V8
Your BMW what now? These names are more confusing than my thinking process, which even i cannot comprehend
@@mateuszodrzywoek8658 Google man. E46 is a chassis code for a certain generation of BMW 3-series, and fans like to use those because it's a cool shorthand

"LET'S GET FUNKAE!!"
Interesting quite in depth video, I wasn't expecting that and was pleased! :)
That V16 is sick 👌
Doesn’t the Giulia QV have a similar engine like the buick? Have heard that it is a California T engine with two cylinders removed,
PicP Yeah sort of, but it doesn't have the same quirk because the firing order is different and i'm pretty sure the buick has a pushrod engine where as the alfa does not. So the alfa engine is only similar in that it's a v6 based on an already existing v8.
Please more Soviet/Russian car videos. Also, nice English.
That V-16 is my new favorite car sound I think 🤤
Hey Viso, some American 3800 information here.
The 3800 Dominated the first wave of american "Tuner cars" I remember seeing guys at the strip with laptops hooked up in the 90s.
There was one locally famous one, that pulled a wheelie so hard one night, it crashed back down an cracked the frame.
These cars were the first real wave of modern turbo cars. They tuned, raced, tuned, an always gained time/speed. Those old turbo 3800 guys helped pioneer a daily driving turbo car, build it, drive it, break it, fix it. Eventually it was figured out.
The 3.8L V6 engine in the GNX(Grand National) was conservatively rated for 276 horsepower at 4,400 RPM and 360 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 RPM and backed by a prepared Turbo-HydraMatic 2004R transmission. The GNX could launch from 0-60 MPH in under five seconds and run a low 13-second quarter-mile.
A BMW 6 cylinder diesel, when tuned sounds like a Scania V8
XD wow
the 740d can sound like scania V8, because it has a V8, but i never heard an I6 that sounded like a scania
It happens
do you have any link for a video? i would love to hear it, scania v8 sounds like a beast
Link please! I'd love to hear that
That V16 sounds like it has a plug problem on number 14 cylinder..
Sounds like a fuel issue😉....cbr engines probably have carbs then.
In this case, 1 per cylinder.
Gonna be weird having a firing issue on cylinder number 14 when you have a 4 cylinder engine... v16 refers to 16 valves, but still only 4 cyl.
One of the best videos!
I truly love the sound of the Formula cars!
Walken engine, but no quad B26 ? Honda motorcycle, but no 1970s V6?
That 205 should still be a Rotary, it was also seen in Goodwood FOS 2018.
That is a rotary it started out as a 13b 2 wheel drive then a 20b 4 wheel drive
The 205 has been equiped even with a Rotary engine. That version is such the best one
That lawnmower is fn awesome!

are you out of your head? e46 M3 sounds more metallic-like, with a stronger note. I really don't find any resemblance
No its sounds like 2 liter mercedes v6 engine
Sled_NeckX99 typically 3 cylinders sound awesome
We've had and still have 3 Dauntless V6 powered Kaiser Jeep Cj-5's, one of those being bored 60 over, with a Carter 4bbl carb, fat cam, Headman headers, electronic ignition, and at Pismo Beach, that Jeep beats up on small block chevy's all day long :) the Dauntless V6 is a fantastic motor....

The peugeot 205 does not use a v16, it has a 20B three-rotor engine
It used multiple engines
as it was stated on the video
No, it uses four de-stroked CBR600 engines put together
The only engine it didn't use is a fucking 16 cylinder. It had an inline 4 cylinder 16 valve turbo when it was raced in group b.
That 205 is brutal! Sounds like something from Star Wars
