We Stood On The HIGHEST Peak In Germany! (Zugspitze) | Garmisch-Partenkirchen, German Alps

- We had one goal for the day and that was to stand on the highest peak in Germany! This peak is called Zugspitze in the German Alps and is 9,718 feet or 2,962 meters above sea level. Knowing about this peak before coming to Germany, we knew we had to reach the very top. Fortunately for us, this peak is very accessible for those wanting to climb the mountain as well. Our first stop was to head to the cogwheel train station where we would climb fast to reach the first checkpoint of the journey. We were so surprised a 90 year old train could make it all the way up the mountain.
Once we reached the end of the train tracks, we were met with a beautiful view of the German Alps all around us. From here, we could see Zugspitze, but we weren't at the top yet. We were in this spot for such a long time admiring the snow covered mountain range. Knowing our day wouldn't be complete without it, we departed on the cable car to the top of Germany. It's possible on clear days to see Austria, Switzerland, and Italy from the viewing platform. After visiting the top, we made our way back down to Eibsee Lake. This was one of our favorite parts of the entire journey because we saw how amazing the lake looked within the German Alps. We can't wait for our next adventures at Eibsee Lake. And of course German beer tastes better than in the USA, for example. We have over 1500 breweries and many thousands of beer varieties. The first finds indicating beer production in Germany date back to 800 BC and we have the oldest brewery in the world still in existence. As early as 1040, the then Benedictine monastery of Weihenstephan was granted the right to brew and serve beer.
