Solo Hiking to the Top of Germany | Zugspitze

- Hiked the highest peak in Germany, the Zugspitze (2962 m asl), in later half of July 2023. The route starts from Garmisch-Partenkirchen in southern Germany, and goes through the Rein Valley (Reintal). This route is generally considered to be the least technical of all the possible routes (apart from the cable car ride to the very top of course).
One can start the trail from the Olympic Ski Stadium in Partenkirchen, which goes through the gorgeous Partnachklamm and through the Reintal. You have options to take refuge in two mountain huts via this route, the Reintalangerhütte and the Knorrhütte. Knorrhütte, however, distributes the altitude almost in two halves. For the hike up from the Zugspitze plateau to the summit, you need to be a bit surefooted, if you don't take the via ferrata set that is. On top you can see the German and the Austrian Alps as far as the eye can see.
My initial plan was to hike up and down in two days, via different routes, ascent via Reintal, and descent via Gatterl and to Ehrwald, Austria. However a halt of two hours on day two made me take the cable car down to Eibsee, where I finished with a refreshing dip in the lake.
Peace.

Hi, can you share where did you have a camp?
maps.app.goo.gl/Ai4AowoS9cuPAL759
Did this have a via fetaratta part?
no this route has no via ferrata.
Have you finished it within 1 day or stay in a hut in the middle of hiking?
I stayed at Knorrhütte for the night, since I was planning to hike sown via a different route. However, I got stuck in the rain on day 2 for a couple of hours and so had to take the cable car down.
If you plan to take the cable car down, yo can do this in a day, remember to start early and check when the last ride of the cable car is.
@@teepusultan99 I have some other questions. Could you please answer? 1. In mattress camp should I take a tent by myself or they will give the tent? 2. Should I take sleeping bag by myself staying in mattress camp? 3. Is it wise decision to have dinner and breakfast providing by them or should I take food? 4. If I want to go in the middle of September would It be very cold? 5. Last question, as a solo beginner hiker is it safe to climb the top of the mountain without any partners?
@@explorewithrakib26 1. they will provide you a sleeping space (including a mattress) in a room, so no need of a tent.
2. No, there will be blankets, however you do need to take a sleeping bag liner.
3. I would recommend to not take the dinner and breakfast option because you can take your own food which is significantly cheaper, or if you feel like it, you can still order there.
4. It could drop down to 0° C, but the days should be okay. And you should be prepared for weather changes which is not uncommon in the mountains.
5. I don't know how to answer this one. The last part is the only tricky part for a beginner I would say. If the weather is good and you don't fear heights, you should be good to go. However, I would not recommend the last part to a beginner if the weather is bad. There is also an option to take the cable car up from where the last 'steep' part starts.
Would you answer few questions?
Ask away!
@@teepusultan99 which shoes jacket and backpack would you recommend?
@@ridahaider3967 This a broad question. Do you specifically mean for this hike?
