It's not new or a world's first. I got a very similar one for 2 bucks in an amazon returns bin. It's also metal. I can't even imagine what they want for them on a kick starter.
Need fidget cubes that don't make noise as you fidget with them. All the ones I have seen so far would be impossible to use during a business meeting or quiet spaces, or around others without irritating them. Many fidgeters also do not LIKE noises. They want to fidget but the sounds bug even themselves. We need QUIET fidgets.

the spinny circle side seems so unsatisfying compared to the plastic one i have. it makes a clicky noise when it spins and it's my favorite side apart from the die pips that push and click and the metal roller ball that i can also click.

Personally, I don't like the fidget's design for my sensory needs plus the possibility of losing parts as they're held by magnets. But for other people, this is an amazing design!

I had a fidget cube about a decade ago that was made out of metal. So this is definitely not the first, and I can also assure you it’s not the best either.

Toys like this only make me think a theory I recently heard is true. Don't remember it exactly but it was lamenting the Touch screen world we now live in and the fact that old tech that used buttons, switches, knobs and leavers were far more satisfying to interact with. The person who came up with it said it way better than I did but I have to agree with them. I can't help but think toys like this would have never existed if we still had more things to press pull on flip or move around in our day to day lives.
I think you're right. The only ones I've seen with fidget toys are my brother, that never really does much and my nieces that are always on their phones. The rest of my family and myself, we enjoy gardening, woodwork, welding.

Well u see when some of us are nervous or emotional but can't show it we fidget with our nails skin fingers I even accidentally ripped out a finger nail out of nervous ness during an exam so this might be useful for that
