In Australia I've always grown up with those flaps that keep a pillow in place. I think ones without might be a USA thing? But what I like is the neat use of feature fabric to highlight the top flap. Great ways to decorate and stay tidy.

in South Africa these pillowcases for bed pillows are also normal. for throw cusions there's usually a zip instead but I've also seen it this way
