❤💛💜💙🧡NOTE⬇
If not using PRE washed fabric
then add another inch
on length and width of main fabric✅
(this will allow for any shrinkage)❤
LOL! Maybe this is why mine didn’t fit; bc it was flannel and that shrinks even more! I didn’t prewash. Ooooops! 😮😂
Pioneer woman fabric
I pick up sheets from estate and garage sales. They work beautifully as backs for pillow cases, table runners and curtains. And they're usually less than a dollar a set! Used tablecloths work good too.
Finally. Someone who can give instructions I can understand.
You are a GREAT instructor!! Thanks
I had no idea hotel pillowcases had this feature. My husband is always complaining that his pillow is coming out of the pillowcase. Now I have the fix. Thank you Tracy for another fantastic video.
I don't think all hotels use them but that is where I have seen them here in the US✅ Have fun making them💛
This is the only way I am going to make pillowcases from now on. Thank you so much for showing this to us. I always do French seams and this is just a little extra over the top. I love it!!! thank you so much. You’re one of my favorites to watch. Thanks.
Awe...thank you for the kind words Debbie.....You will love making these for sure!!!!💛
Great directions! I have an extra long pillow that I use on the couch. Never had a pillow case that fit it. Now I do. Thank you!
This is the best and easiest tutorial I’ve come across. Thanks for sharing.
You learn something every day. Even the cheapest pillow cases in the UK come with this inner flap. I thought they were the standard for pillow cases all over the world. I like the burrito method of adding the contrasting fabric, and the French seams give a really neat finish.
Here in the US...the standard is no flap....But I like it....especially with the pretty fabric💛
In Australia they’re standard too, I made this burrito style before without the inner flap and don’t like pillow cases like that. These ones look great
How wide is the flap on the pillowcases? Not sure the flap she suggested would hold my pillows from coming out. Any advice you give will be appreciated.
@@lindapucillo3493make the flap longer, so add more length to your fabric. Also don’t do a tight fitting case as the pillow will want to ‘pop’ out.
@@m0ther0ne thanks. Like I said, all advice will help me. Plan on making some of these next year.
You are an excellent instructor!! Thank you!
I am just now getting to making these! I see many pillow cases being made for Christmas presents. Thanks!
And I must add, I love everything about your sweater. The ribbing, color and even the buttons. Looks great on you! ❤
I found this tutorial a few weeks ago. I haven't made one yet but I hope to try it soon. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE!!! your tutorials. Every time I watch one I want to make the project! Thanks for all you do😊
Omgoodness, where has this one been! Love it, thank you for sharing the formula! Christmas presents!
I normally make mine exactly the same but zigzag the inside but will certainly do a frenchseam next time round. Many thanks for yr tutorial. I watch this chanel from Zimbabwe in Africa
In New Zealand, these are just called pillowcases lol I still remember when I discovered American pillowcases didn't have this internal flap and my very first thought was "that's not going to stay on 😂" and it amused me why they didn't just tuck it in, one side wrapping around the pillow with all that excess fabric flopping about on one end 😂
I love your method of teaching ♥️♥️♥️. Thank you
I came across you channel and was excited to see how you made the pillow case. I love sewing pillows cases but I have not sewed one like yours. I will be making them like your from now on. Thank you for sharing. 👍🏽👍🏽
Your such a great teacher, ❤
Finally, I can stop pinning my pillowcases closed🤣🤣🤣. This is the best tutorial I’ve seen yet. Thank you.
LOL😂 It's a wonder you didn't hurt yourself while sleeping haha
I’m actually working on making 16 to give as Christmas gifts. I considered doing a video on preparing the fabric off the bolts. 😂😂. It was actually quite fun.
Beautifully done. Yes I will make some
BEAUTIFUL! DEFINITELY GOING TO MAKE THESE .
Love your method. Love your machine. I too have a brother sewing machine and love it
Hi. Thanks Tracey.
Little tip... when you turn the pillowcase inside out, to do the last of the French seam, flip the flap over, so that the opening is in the top memory fold. Sew the side seams. When you turn it out again, the French seams are hidden inside the flap.
Thanks, Karen, this was the piece I couldn't figure out! Its always bugged me when I see the seam, even though its a pretty French seam.
Thanks for the tip 👍 😊
Can someone explain that again I don’t like seeing that French seam either it’s bulky
That’s brilliant!!
@@adoral.libertucci2647 I know can’t wait to try this method. I have made the other method before and I did not like that thick French seam showing.
In South Africa, we have always had pillowcases with an inner flap. I didn’t know there were pillowcases, made any other way. It is not a new concept, at all, and is definitely not just hotels that have these types of pillowcases.
WEll done Thank you for sharing🧡💛💚❤🧡💛💚❤
I know what everyone is getting for Christmas!
These are definitely on my gift giving list too!🎄
Yes, I’ll make several not just one 🥰
Love this pillow case! ❤
Oh yes. I'm going to make several. Thank you for sharing 💖
Found this tutorial just in time! My hubby can't stand to have to stuff his pillow back in the case every night. I made us matching pillowcases within an hours time! So simple and easy to follow instructions. Thank you 🥰
I love these type of pillow cases. One of my sheet sets has them and they are great! I should just make a bunch of my own since I have 14 pillows on my bed... yup I use them all 😄 🤣 😂
Wow Tiff!!! LOL 😂 14 pillows....WOW!! (my husband is the same way lol....he uses all his too)! I use one....the one in the video LOL
@@TheSewingChannel ya I need a pillow for each part of my body 😄 😄
Haha!
We do have that flap here in the UK 👍 I would even consider making the ‘flap’ slightly longer so that pillow definitely can’t pop out 😃 Love the pretty fabric detail 👏👏🇬🇧
Yes...making the inner flap longer would work nicely✅
Love your pillowcase pattern
Love this!
I rarely make pillowcases because I can’t find fabric that I want to have my face next to, but I love the pattern. One quick tip. If you press the seams flat before turning it over to make a French seam, you don’t have to fiddle with trying to roll it into place. It will fold smoothly and crisply. You can then sew a straight 1/4” seam without fuss.
Thank you for the tip Beth....I usually do that ....I skipped that step this time🤷🏻♀️
@@TheSewingChannel 🥰
Hello 👋🏻 Beth Allen 😊 how are you?
Use another sheet to make your pillowcases.
Pressing the first seams does make stitching the French seams much easier.
In Australia, back in 1960, when I was nine years old my Aunty taught me to sew. This type of pillowcase is the first thing I made. Our pillowcases are all made like this. When the burrito pillowcases came out I was surprised there was no part to keep the pillow from falling out. I really enjoyed this video. I was thinking of all the pillowcases I made like this when I was young. Thank you.
Yes same here. I had no idea there were any other kind of pillow cases for bed pillows. I always make my own because my pillows are so big the standard shop bought pillowcases are too small.
A lot are saying that Australia uses this style pillowcase....✅ Thank you for watching Sue💛 Enjoy making these pillowcases🎉
@@TheSewingChannel well if Britain and Australia have done this for decades you can bet Canada has as well. I just don’t remember my pillowcases looking like that
But my family members enjoyed them as gifts
@@dcwatashi : we in Canada follow the USA on pillowcases …. We don’t have the inner flap to secure the pillow inside the case. Sometimes we do like the US and other times we do like the Brits….don’t know why 🤷♀️ .
I never paid attention to my hotel pillow to notice this inner flap. This video was excellent!
I will consider making this for kids’ pillow especially the ones they travel with on road trips.
Great tutorial, Tracey !
@@berniecelee5062 It’s definitely a more sophisticated pillowcase
WOW I gotta make some of these! Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge 💞💞💞
I have never seen a pillow case without this flap!!!
I’m loving this way of making pillowcases!!!!
Love this pillowcase. I typically sew pillowcases from the leftover fabrics of a quilt and gift them with the quilt. Looks fantastic on a bed. And the recipient doesn’t have to go search for matching pillowcases
Great idea!✅
Hello Margeret Lewis 😊 how are you?
I love it. Thank you!
What a creative idea to make pillowcases, I love the fact you have a longer inside fold to hold the pillow inside! ❤
I love your video, you explain it well,I will start making all my pillow cases like yours, thank you so much.looking forward for more of your videos.
Thank you !
I like this!
Love this
I love this.
Just beautiful!
Absolutely brilliant and unique. Thanks
Just made a pair of colour coordinated pillow cases that came out beautifully. Thank you for this tutorial .. i proceeded confidently and with no need to rip out any seams as happens when I "guess" my way through a project. The delightful addition of a hidden, decorative seam "not because the user will see it, but YOU" will when you change the pillow." How disarming, charming and eye opening. Not for the "likes" and ,👍 but because you yourself will like it. Big warm hug from India for that
Wonderful!
In Australia and UK, that’s the only pillow cases one can buy. I was given US made ones and really hated them! I like pillow to be totally enclosed. Looks so much tidier. In my opinion!
I love this idea!! I even have many of the Pioneer Woman Prints!! Can't wait to try it out!! ♡♡♡♡♡
Hi Tracy! You know I'm gonna make these for our pillows! Thanks!
Love this thanks so much
Your instructions were very clear. I just might attempt it!
You can do it Carol❣️
Great video, our pillowcases here in Australia all come with the flap. I love to make them but this is the first that shows how easy it is for a flap. Thank you. Off to make some today!
Its funny how different countries have such different "ways"...slight differences...but still✅
I don't know how many times I have watched this, and have made a number of pillows for family. Thank you for the great tutorial.
You are so welcome!🩷 I love this design too❣️
What a great way to make a pillow case. If I make one I will have to stop and start video to make it. Thank you ❤
Great directions- clear and easy! Thank you for this clever idea!
Beautifully done
Thanks 🙏
very nice. hope to try soon.
Really nice ❤
I love it! I will definitely be making a few of these! ❤️
Yay! They are fun and easy to make!!✅

You are so welcome Lois!!! These were so much fun to make (and easy too)👍🏻
I just recently learned about the burrito method but now want to do it this way with the flap instead. Great video, Tracy!
Just beautiful. I would love to make several. It looks easy enough for me, a beginner.
I love this pattern. I have made 2 pillow cases. Thanks so much for sharing
Thanks for sharing mam
Love it. It’s like a pillow sham envelope…but way prettier ❤
Yep. I’ll be making these for Christmas gifts this year! Thank you for sharing this awesome pillowcase pattern🥰
You're welcome💛
What a good idea for gifts. Everyone on my list is getting a pillow case. 👍
Now I got it! Thanks for sending us here from your “short”. I can’t wait to make this!
Now I wish I would have made these for our travel trailer instead of the jelly roll type. They stay so neat! Thanks for sharing!
Wow.
Wow this amazing & I can’t believe I have both of those fabrics. I am definitely going to make these pillow cases instead of spending so much money for pillow cases.
I love it ❤
Thanks Brenda💛
Love the PILLOWCASE!
