Thanks for the video, it's clarified a few bits for me. Looking to purchase a similar unit for my father in his SQ5 8R and was leaning toward the Linux unit over the Android ones just due to simplicity as he is only interested in adding Carplay .
This is great, really a nice update to keep the car more useful. Let us know how it holds up!
That's awesome!!! I always wanted to install something more advanced than what's in my B8.5 allroad. I wholeheartedly enjoy the Virtual Cockpit/MMI system in my B9 S4. But again, the B8/B8.5 for the time was okay but nowadays? it screams for an update. Very happy, you got yours done.
The wireless CarPlay is something I never knew I needed! It is really convenient. Thanks for watching!
I watched your video and wanted to do the same on my audi a4. I couldn't find the same navigation that you posted the link to, but I found almost the same one. I have a problem with the connection of the concert and the screen. I am missing the connector that you include in the factory cable. I wonder if you can give me the name of the cable so I can find it, because it didn't arrive in the package. i think the output is called lvsd. thank you
Any ideea why new interface is not showing when car is in reverse ? Old oem does
and is the airbag button is optional or i need to get it?
Is the best option you found for the concert no-nav mmi? I’ve wanted to find a way to have CarPlay with the original screen, but the forum posts I’ve read suggested it’s a pita
The annoying part of installing it was getting everything put away behind the mmi. The kit I got i didn't need to take much apart and was pretty easy
How are you liking this system now? Why did you pick this one over say RSnav or others?
It is still working great! I bought it because it was one of the cheapest ones on AliExpress, around $200. I have heard good things about RSNav, so you can’t go wrong with that one which is around $600. Overall these are not as good as double DIN Sony or even off brands, but we can’t use standard double DIN radios in our cars due to the crazy MMI wiring. If you want apple car play, anything like this is a great option. I chose the Linux version because it can’t be upgraded. Android version is much more configurable which leads to bugs in my opinion. That’s why OEM locks everything down and you can’t modify it. It was a roll of the dice and this one works pretty good. It is not perfect but like I said in the video, I have never found even a factory OEM unit in any car to be bug free. So far this one has never rebooted or lost connection while driving which is awesome. It’s always a roll of the dice because only so many are made in a batch and then next batch gets bug fixes which can introduce new features and new bugs! Just have to order one and hope for the best. RSNav at least has support, someone to troubleshoot.
Does this come with a rear camera?
No, you can buy the trunk handle rear camera separately
after update where is the airbag button?
It’s on the left side of the screen afterwards, viewable from drivers seat looking towards the screen
