The ESC is the culprit, check out the link in the description for the forum discussion, I've increased the cooling in the cowl and adjusted the throttle curve back to 100% as well as fitting an 80amp esc, all this should sort the problem nicely 🙂👍
Ah the nostalgia. That bird reminds me of the Black Magic design of the late 50s. Rudder/elevator with lots of dihedral and a lifting section is a different flying experience to modern zero-zero rigged models with ailerons and symetrical wings. You can't beat these old-timers on a calm summer's evening when all you need is a click of trim between beers to keep them in the air.
You're spot on there Bruce, the Black Magic was another classic vintage design ... not sure about flying little sozzed though 😁👍

glad you have got it sorted Cliff, we had a similar problem cured by opening up the exit hole in the cowl...nice model tho enjoy.
I knew the exit should be bigger than the inlet but figured that being the esc was virtually right in front of the inlet it would be ok. When you think about it though the air doesn't actually enter the cowl if it can't get out 🤔👍

It's got two main spars/wing joiners Mark, I reckon two of you could sit on a wing tip each! What we actually saw was the wing leaving the body, I'll add a couple more bands in future 😁😁
That is one beautiful aeroplane Cliff, though if it was me I'd be putting an IC engine in it. I'd be tempted to design and make an on-board starter so one could shut the engine down, glide away in a thermal then restart the engine if you needed to bring it home say. Wonder if anyone has already done an on-board starter for a glow engine?

Hi cliff just watched to see if I can figure out what’s going on .. pull the motor and remove the rear circlip and separate the bell from the stator .. check the rare earth magnets in the bell to check there not coming unglued wiggle a small flat head between them and just shimmy to see if any move .. sometimes one of the magnets will come Un bonded and slide back making contact with the stator windings and shorting causing a safe cut .. I have had a few motors go that way with strange resetting and cutting power

Something's a bit wrong with the colours in this video, it looks like a camera with no IR filter. I suspect you've taken the ISO mode of the camera out of auto, and set it to something that doesn't make it look right on this particular day. I like slow fliers like this though.
Hi Fraggsta, it was a dull day and I played with the colours in post, it looked ok on my monitor but not so good on the tv ... lesson learned 🤔👍
It might be better not to land towards yourself ! nad don't do aros with a vintage model
