Let's take a moment to appreciate the sheer estatistical miracle of having a kid you went to school with to be the first person to ask you before winning your first Oscar. Mind-blowing
"Trotsky" Turnbull. Very funny.
it's like the lord himself intervened to make it so.
@@LichenAndMoss I was a student of "Trotsky" Turnbull, too. Super lovely to see this moment on screen, massive congrats to Nolan.
Very cool! You mustve been tickled to see this. @@groundeffect236
Never seen him this happy
The day i became fan until now I have waited for this moment, Nolan for life!
My first Nolan film was Insomnia but I didn't really get it until The Dark Knight. It's hard to see a man who continually works with 9 figure budgets as a pure auteur, but as filmmakers go, I don't believe there is anyone in the industry as dedicated to scripting and shaping the narrative as he is. An apex filmmaker at his creative apex. My favorite director of all time.
@@danw1951 well, his films are so emotionless for long stretches that i sometimes thought he had autistic traits.
get a life bro
Kinda weird but alr.
@@sgmatohi1559 Trying to show off as clever....are we?🙄 Ironically, it just makes you come across as, the Lobotomized Shitlark, that you are!! 🤷♀
He usually seems very reserved in public, but it's so nice to see him express this moment with some outward happiness. Such a well deserved list of awards.
It just looks right, isn't it ?? Him holding two Oscars. It's about goddamn time.
And he looks SO HAPPY...
I mean, I don't know him in person but You can see the joy... And comparing to other videos and interviews where he is a serious person.
It's like a child with a candy.
Glad to see him so spontaneous and charismatic.
Oppenheimer is the most overrated movie of the year.
@@Revolver1981 It made 950 million and won 7 oscars. Something like this happened last time when Return of the King was released. I wouldn't call such rare films overrated. May be overrated to those who have the patience of a 5 year old who doesn't quite understand what's going on. No worries though, Fast and Furious is coming next year for you.
@@subhashismandal9871 Explain why the best movie of the year Killers of the Flower Moon won nothing? Nominated for 10 awards. De Niro should've won for best Supporting Actor, Scorsese should've won for Best Director, Lily Gladstone should've won Best Actress although I think Emma Stone deserved it as well, and the film should've won Best Picture.
@@Revolver1981 would you have liked Killers Of The Flower Moon more if it had won any awards?
Finally, so satisfying to see Christopher Nolan get recognised... Interstellar was a snub still
And for good reasons
@@likearollingstone007Please list those reasons since you have inside information I guess.
Yeah and also, I still can’t get over the fact Hans Zimmer didn’t win the Oscar for Best Original Score, he was robbed! 😢
@@foglias he might for dune 2
@@rajwindersingh6087 State of the art sci-fi landscape are deployed in service of Hallmark homelies about how people should live and what’s really important. A daddy issue ridden story who uses booming music to jack up the excitement level of scenes that might not otherwise excite. It is featuring characters shoveling exposition at each others for almost 3h, and a few characters have no character to speak of, they are mouthpieces for thecno-babble and pseudo philosophical debate.
It borrows from John Ford, Kubrick’s 2001, To kill a mockingbird even Spielberg…
We recognize Nolan obsession about time he tackles on other movies before and after. In all transparency, Dunkerque is my favorite Nolan movie, not Tenet, not Batman and certainly not Interstellar. Was it enough for you my friend ?
Absolutely well deserved Oscar wins for Oppenheimer, the movie was incredible, one of the best I have seen in a long time. Happy to see Christopher Nolan get his long deserved Oscar win for best director, truly one of the greatest directors today. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. gave the performances of a lifetime in the movie, happy to see them win too.
That little cheek kiss was so cute lol 11:40
Christopher Nolan is and has been for awhile the greatest Director alive. Intelligent, creative, researched, talented, imaginative, and a risk taker. No one is enters his lane.
omg how cute are they at 11:40 😊
It's about time.
But backwards😢
Congratulations Nolan! Well deserved 😊👍🏻
My favorite director of all time
been waiting to see this moment since 2006! long overdue and so well deserved!
11:35 omg Chris, Emma, PTA, I love it.
Well deserved! This man is so brilliant! Finally!
Long time coming, thoroughly deserved.
I've NEVER seen him this "happy" and he's being rather "calm". lol
Wow. Big win for Oppenheimer and Christopher Nolan.
Nolanites , Have we started the fire?
Yes. The fire rises
lmao dudes been the most prominent director for the past decade the fire has been light a time ago
Mans was paid $70M and made Universal Pictures $1Billion and 7 Oscars 😂😂😂 GOAT
Warner Bros are kicking themselves
He gets revenue from box office sales and now it’s going to streaming he’s making way more than 70$ mill
I watched his filmography for Oppenheimer’s release and it was such a fun journey and seeing him FINALLY win his long overdue Oscar made me cry tears of joy
Long over due. Finally Mr. Nolan. Finally! 👏🏽
This seems like a good place to note this: They literally needed to develop the workflow for shooting black and white IMAX 65 mm film. Did not exist before this film. There is a very interesting interview with the cinematographer that is worth searching out. I admire the work of Nolan, Emma Thomas and Hoyte van Hoytema so much.
Cannot wait to see what he does next
Congratulations to him and his team!
The best and most humble.

For Winning 7 Awards At The 96th Academy Award
We Love You Christopher Nolan ❤
Thank god he switched over to universal and taking a stand for theaters during the pandemic when everyone wanted to send it to stream. ie Dune 1. Everything he’s ever done are absolute master pieces. Interstellar, inception and taking on the ip Batman. Holding it up as the best Batman films ever made. This man deserved the Oscar decades ago.
With great hard work comes great Success... Well done Chris
Well deserved!!! ❤
0:17 - Please don't tell anyone how hungover I was during that class. Thanks!
I can’t wait for his next movie
I truly hope Chris knows that people want to his films. They will seek out the best format’s available, multiple viewings etc. Emma said it tonight. This is all because of Chris. Best director of all time.
Killed it, love this movie!
An independent film maker 🌹
Hollywood should focus on creatures like this ❤️
Creatures?
Deserved. Would have loved to see it go to Zone or Poor Things, but very deserved x
He did it.
0:11 Rare instance Nolan makes a joke and everyone in the room missed it
I am happy that Christopher Nolan finally got oscar ❤🎉
Strangely, me and Chuck have the same b-day and Christopher Nolan's b-day was when this phenomenon happened to me as a kid?😮
JES-
While Oppenheimer wasn't my favorite film of the year, it is still a masterpiece, and that best picture win is going to age like fine wine
When Nolan was talking about not young people not even knowledgeable with nuclear weapons, after seeing Oppenheimer not like right away, bc when I watched all I thought about was dayum such a awesome movie but like hours after I’ve started to keeping up with *at the time* with Ukraine Russia war like I was looking up anything involves or new with nuclear weapons. I liked that part of the interview when Nolan was saying his youngest Magnus was saying younger people not even concerned about nuclear weapons, Chris was like he never technically talked about anything messages in his films. I agree with that part bc it made me knowledgeable about Nuclear Weapons shows how dangerous are they.
But congrats to Chris, Emma, Roven and Oppenhomies
Should have won with Memento years ago.
Well deserved! Nolan's movies are so life altering. I'm not even exagerrating. This man, I followed since Memento, really changed my perspective on movies and life. That's adament to a real genius!
Nolan movies have their flaws though
@@middleman9183all geniuses are flawed but the moments in theater I’ll always remember are from Nolan movies.
Inception action sequence, Interstellar “mountains”, trinity test in Oppenheimer, and the list is endless.
@@shahzadirani I found Dunkirk unwatchable. The seats on the trains were from the 1970's! 😂
He's very nice to people, love his mannerism, congrats Mr.Nolan!! I've been rooting for this moment since Dark knight 😭 next give it to Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino, three masterclass film bro directors thats have been robbed for their number one films
Congratulations to you Christopher Nolan for a wonderful bio movie. I just found my genetic connection to Julius 'J' Oppenheimer via his father Seligmann Julius Oppenheimer : Oppenheimer, Friedman, Stern, Julich lineage from Germany. I feel honored they are my family
Wonder what direction he plans to go for his next project- his recent career has consistently alternated between "High Concept Sci-fi" and historical drama for the past decade. I'd want to guess we'll see a classic Nolan oddball film next.
I don't know what you do next but work with Christian bale
03:25 spot on
The guy who started the mormon religion was someone like him. He was this sort of figure.
Long overdue, for the greatest director of All-Time.
Calm down
the 50/50 thing always seems like a odd thing to hang on, I think it's great in concept but at the end of the day, it should be about who is most qualified. if that happens to be 70/30 or 30/70. You should be hired because of skill, not gender or race.
It should have been Poor Things in my opinion.
somewhere in the corner Warner borhters is crying.
Why should they? Villeneuve is already established as the new blockbuster legend working with them. Some key figures which worked with Nolan on movies like Dark Knight or Interstellar are now working with Villeneuve. Maybe the release date of Dune Part 2 reduced the chances for winning many Oscars next year, but I think this year it would've beaten Oppenheimer and Nolan for best film and best director at least. Win-win situation for both studios I guess.
@@frool76 Denis Villenueve isn’t as popular director and not as versatile as Chris Nolan Denis is not even a billion dollars director even now Nolan movies always make 600 to 900 dollars at the box office and those are original films like Inception,Interstellar,Dunkirk and Oppenheimer and his 2 Batman movies made billions those number Denis could have never reach so comparing Nolan to Denis is dumb. When Nolan movies was made WB never lose any money While Bladerunner 2049 atlist loses 100 million dollars.I please i dont believe if Dune 2 came this year that it will beat Oppenheimer.Sci fi genre is not popular thing in oscar Oppenheimer is a much more important subject matter. We have our own bias when it comes to someone but your take is dumb.WB knows that Nolan will always be a big lose for WB

JES-CHRIS & EMMA
Some dumb questions asked by reporters here...
"How important is it to support women"
"How can young people have less hate"
The text itself speaks to female strength, namely in the form of Emily Blunt’s performance which is incredibly tough and headstrong.
@@PurushaDesa not denying that but what's the point of the question? Of course they will say it's important, so the reporter can write "Emma Thomas supports women in the industry"?
It's like asking how important is it to eat? Of course it is, what's the point of asking
@@jasonlam8588 Sounded like the guy asking about "hateful young people" tried to bait Nolan into commenting on Gaza too. Kudos to Nolan for swerving that bait.
I know... It was tiny CRINGE moment
It's actually disgusting that the first question is not recognizing her work but her gender. That is not dumb, that's disrespecting everything she did to stand there. Reduced from being an exceptional artist to just being a woman.
Well deserved Oscars 👏👏👏💪🏻💪🏾💪🏽
Interstellar an absolute masterpiece of a film that was 1000000% snubbed. Nolan was too advance for the brains at the academy. Interstellar has influenced so much of film and tv writing in the last 13 yrs without its proper recognition. And I’m glad this man is getting the flowers he so rightfully deserved now. Every actor in Hollywood would drop everything to work with this man with or without pay. To be apart of his catalog of film would be a dream. Bravo
Warner Brothers ran him off. Truly the dumbest studio in Hollywood.
4:00 this question seems to aim at the omission of native american suffering due to uranium mining. It's a bit odd that even when receiving a question that practically invites him to mention the native american struggle, he still refuses to do so or at least doesn't seem to think of this aspect.
The subject of the film creates weapons that ultimately kill hundreds of thousands of people in Japan, where the subject is rightfully sensitive and it took months to determine whether it would even be distributed, and you see this question pointed to the struggle of the native Americans in the 1940s?
Yes I do sir. Yes I do.@@danw1951
Honestly, if we were to stop to talk about the victims of nuclear weapons the movie will not have ended ever...
No, this question doesn’t aim at specific omissions. It sounds like you’re projecting onto the question issues you personally had with the movie. Oppenheimer wasn’t about The Manhattan Project, Los Alamos, or the bombing of Japan. It was about J Robert Oppenheimer. Was the title too subtle?
You're wrong though. I love the movie. Other than that stretched out epilogue with the RDJ character I have zero gripes with it.
The woman who asked the question is black and I know that the fact that they left out how native americans were directly negatively impacted by the Manhattan project, is certainly something that didn't go unnoticed by many minority groups.
However, I ,personally, think the movie is a masterpiece@@BigNoseDog
Christopher Nolan redeem himself after a 2020 debacle.
What was the debacle?
Oppenheimer was terrible. It was a great marketing gimmick with the 70mm IMAX film that most people never saw. There were only a handful of 70mm projectors in theaters. I watched a digital version in the theater. I don’t like any of his film except his first film Memento which he made when he was hungry. Now he went Hollywood and all his film fall flat.
That is the stupidest opinion I have ever heard. You don't have to like his previous work, but to say it falls flat because "he went Hollywood" is ridiculous considering he's known to be a complex director and became a well known person for the movies he filmed. Also, Memento wasn't his first movie, it was Following.
@@themarvelousjoe1501 The following wasn’t distributed due to its $6000 budget. No one saw it. Memento found distribution and grossed 40 million. That film put him on the map to Hollywood. I just don’t dig his new directing style. A lot of hype with no style.
@@rancosteel His style has always been focusing on characters in his perplexed storytelling and visual arts. Just cause his style is different, it doesn't mean it's bad. So maybe you don't find it appealing or watchable, but seeing how he has been doing it for decades now and made tons of successful films (besides Tenet), maybe you're missing something out of it.
This movie turned out to be a profound disappointment, costing me $20 that now feels wasted. My anticipation was fueled by glowing reviews and the intriguing historical connection between Oppenheimer and the recovery of crashed UFOs-termed 'Wheels' by the Nation of Islam. It was the advanced technology from these artifacts that supposedly played a significant role in the development of the atomic bomb. Unfortunately, the film shied away from delving into these compelling aspects, likely to avoid unveiling sensitive government secrets.
Oh, no how dare they do;'t pander to conspiracy theorists such as yourself! What a shame!…
@@Summon256 It’s not conspiracy, it’s the truth.
@@oneofgodsangels True is something, that is a well documented and proven fact...nothing about the BS you are spewing is a doccumented and historically established fact...
Actually, the A-Bomb was actually built thanks to the discoveries of this Italian doctor who found the tomb of a Russian ancient priest. Apparently the nuclear bomb runs on tears of unicorn and the ghosts of goblins. It's actually sad that this movie went on talking about nuclear fusion and that government lies. The CIA is plotting against us!!

still cant believe that gave the Oscar to a movie that the cast is 99% white males ... lol ..
It's a historical movie, why would that matter?
Isn´t this as well a sort of kinda rasistic coment? The movie obviously deserevs this award. Even though I would love to see a mention for freePalestine by artist having such a voice publicly.
So historical figures should be changed to appeal to the community who can't handle that they were white? Your comment is ridiculous, it's a historical movie, unfortunately Einstein and Oppenheimer were white, that can't be changed to appeal to the woke mob.
@@l.m.a.9861 Didn't Oscars say unless there's some kind of pandering happening in your movie, you don't get no award. I don't know if they actually enacted that yet.
@@M_k-zi3tn Not really, those were just guidelines not rules. They made them up to push for more diversity, but it obviously doesn’t affect who wins it.
So many bad movies nowadays that’s why Oppenheimer won. It’s an average movie.
Look at his smug face for his undeserved win. Oppenheimer is so overrated.
old, rich and white, how many times have we seen this in america?
Does that mean you can’t be deserving of an Oscar?
Most everything he does is fantastic, I especially loved Memento, but it took me 3 tries to get through Oppenheimer. I found it to be plodding. For my money, Poor Things was best picture. That movie has it all, incredible set design, cinematography, costumes, wild story, sex, humor, top notch acting. Poor Things will forever be etched into my mind. Can't say the same about Oppenheimer.
not made a billion, just because you like it, it doesn't mean everyone wants that, i saw it, and at best thought it was a over stylised Frankenstein, if you dont get Oppenheimer you do not get what true art it. Oppenheimer is a masterpiece in cinema
Long time coming, thoroughly deserved.
