Currently at a 95% for Direct. I am a one man crew that is also running a very small LGS. Between buying, sorting, running events, customer service, and ordering correct to not sink the operation, I could be doing much, much worse. Thank you for the inside information, Mason! It's nice to know that we are all working towards bettering our business!
I was at 9% for my June 4th email. I have added 5489 to my inventory since your last video. I am going to try to get my bulk sorted and listed. I need to get it out the door.
Love all the transparency! I am just a private little card slinger overseas, but I know what it is like to keep your inventory somewhat accurate when breaking into the six figure amount of cards. I am always losing my mind when cards for an order seemingly have just vanished and are nowhere to be found xD
When in doubt drop the condition. Then if you're worried about an MP card not selling because of condition you may want to set a different price standard for MP cards. Your Tundras and Scrublands will still sell but standard product probably won't. I'd also recommend investing in a lumen meter to make sure the light in your space is bright enough and consistent (shoot for 800-1000 lumens for visual inspection). There's a good chance that your condition issues come from not giving yourself the proper setup so your employees may not be seeing the imperfections caught by tcg's conditioners. There's of course always subjectivity but generally if you're harsh you'll be fine for everything but the smallest bit of water damage you missed or something. (I've missed the blue plenty of times when it didn't come with ripples)
Really, Mason, it is 8775 😀 Counting numbers is one thing but assigning the correct state of a card as per TCG standards is the more important one -- no help adding 2000 extra cards when half of them would return with comments from TCG player!
Im maintaining over 99% accuracy with direct. I used to feel like I was wasting so much time making sure everything listed is 100% accurate, and it appears to finally be paying off. 🥳
Seems pretty rough to get everyone coming up with the same thing tcgplayer is saying on condition. Heck I wonder if tcg player staff is on the same page. Glad to see you guys are getting better on it but it seems like an absurd ask
That very first one that says "Misrecorded as damaged, card is HP" is absolutely ridiculous. They're saying that heavily played is somehow in worse condition than "damaged." Also, WTF is LPF? I just looked up their conditioning guide on their website and it doesn't have anything between "lightly played" and "moderately played."
My discrepancy rate on direct started at around 10% and I've been able to get it down to about 7%. I feel like 2% is a little too strict considering how inherently subjective card condition is. I've also been having a hard time figuring out which specific characteristics will warrant a lightly played condition rather than near mint even after combing through the condition standards they've set. Honestly it's a huge headache similar to having someone asking for a refund on ebay because of a white spec on a card they received. Half the time the cards they send me back I'd still consider Near Mint.
The Alpha Investments shirt is such a respectful power move haha
Not even PSA can get their employees to be consistent when it comes to grading cards.
I was thinking the same thing.
Having a card listed as NM, and it comes with worn edges and gouges out of the sides and surface issues, probably MP condition, is not fun. 😅

Good luck on your sales!
Awesome video and series 👍

They actually knock you for the card being in better condition than you listed?
No

Can you just mark HP on everything if they are checking all the cards on arrival? Credits on them all!
Sorry. Turns out they were all damaged.
1.11% error rate! i don't really do bulk though so naturally cards i get are in better condition/sleeved etc
Are scratches/scuffs considered damage on holo foils?

581 total direct orders with only 2 discrepancies. Good for 0.35%. Much easier for me as a 1 man show working out of my basement.
98% and dinging you for over conditioning is wild

Where can we get those templates?
TCG Player sent them out to Direct sellers.

LPF = Light Play Foil
