    For the single terminal sensor, what will be the voltage when the wire is not connected to the sensor?

    In my case.. In captiva 2010 obd was showing coolant temperature issue( p0118).there was black smoke, ac was not working, no present temperature was shown in dashboard, engine was getting rise on starting for 2-3seconds, and engine fault sign was shown on cluster. And every time engine cooling fan was ON.
    Fault was wire was unplugged of temperature sensor after plugging problem was solved.
    So the position of that sensor was top of engine side near some big hosepipe. Hope this will help for others.

    Its a thermistor ? variable resistor with temp, how do you measure voltage from an open cct thermistor ? You sure its not a thermocouple ? that would explain an open circuit voltage. I bought a new one and no open cct voltage. That means u need to measure resistance on open circuit thermistor
    and not voltage.

  • @lennyh500
    @lennyh500 Před 5 lety +7

    Safer bet to stick the clips into the socket & measure the voltage OFF load. Ought to be around 5 Volts. Then check resistance of the sensor itself. Around 2500 Ohms at room temperature.
