It's not super quick or easy to pull any portion of the rack to use the softrop, no. Our design with this was to give softop owners who don't remove their top a way to have a roof rack.
Did the design change after this video was made? My rear crossbar only has 2 holes in it. The rear pillars also only have 2 holes at the top. When you get to 7:35 in the video, there are 3 bolt holes in the pieces in the video.
Could this be modified so that the platform portion is easily removable and the fairing and Towers stay on? I open my roof more often than I need a rack.
Can the back of the soft top be propped up with this roof rack installed? That’s my main concern with adding a roof rack to my soft top bronco, not so much being able to put the top back

If you have such a dire need for roofrack, why on earth would you buy the softtop...it's like putting a permanant hard top cover over your convertible. ditch the softop and just buy a hard top system for your bronco. What a waste of a softtop feature.
I finally got around to putting this rack on and I really wanted it to be good.... but it is not. Terrible welds, holes not lining up, very poor instructions, rear side panel windows don't fit around the support braces well, etc. The video was good, but there were no paper instructions that came in the box and all the hardware was literally shoved in one bag that was taped up because it had holes in the bag. I really only need it for ski racks, but if you are wanting gear racks or a roof tent I would just look elswhere or fork out the money for a hardtop.
I got mine today. Just finished installing the side panels and rear cross bar (almost 3 hours solo with a couple mess ups) . It takes some finessing, but I kept the bolts loose until i had everything lined up and i was okay. So far the video instructions have been good and I haven’t needed anything additional. Paper instructions would be nice just for part orientation purposes. Seems very sturdy so far and i’m satisfied. Will update again tomorrow.
Oh and yes, side panels were a little difficult to fit back on after installing the rack side panels, but i was able to get it with some muscle. I think i’m going to get some 3M velcro and attach it to the panel sliding under the soft top, that way i can seal it better.
@@scoopdiddyhoop if you find a decent fix for the windows let me know! I was thinking Velcro as well, but I ended up removing those supports entirely. I am only using a ski rack during the winter and it is plenty sturdy for that without the supports. How do your welds look? I maybe got a bad batch.
how would you take the soft top off? If you still can.
How are you taking the soft top off or folding it back? In the easiest method possible?

so... this is for someone in the dry south-west that has a soft top but never plans to use it? Or, maybe never plans to have the soft top on?

Yes, slight design change.

Not easily.

Dylan,
Yes you can prop the back of the top up to have access to the rear cargo area.
What kind of light bars can i mount to this rack if any?
The lightbar fairing is designed for a 41.25" max lens housing width single-row LED light bar. So many standard 40" single-row bars fit well.
Why didn't you make this thing just a little bit wider? So it could fit on a hard top as well.
Any plans for a Jeep JL (4xe) soft top roof rack?
No plans at this time.
What is I want to use the soft top, is the top rack easy to uninstall and will I be able to fold the soft top back at least half way position ?

Will this work with the bestop trektop 4d softop?
It will not work with the Trektop, no.
are there any roof rack tents available for this?
Id also like to know, im currently torn between 3 different racks for my soft top

Definitely did not provide enough hardware to install this…. Missing 4 button heads and 14 nylon nuts…
Can’t install the final top strut, or the diagonal braces. Gotta take a trip to the local hardware store…

Why can anyone other than gobi design a rack to be able to utilize the soft top? This rack is pointless.
With the whole hard top issue on launch, not everyone with a soft top actually has any interest in lowering it.

Ronald,
The issue is many bronco customers didn’t get a choice, as Ford has/had constraints on hard top availability.
Your rack shouldn't have anything to do with your top. You should be able to run it in a soft top, a hard top or no top. Bikini top.
