You're such a bad ass artist. The way you get ti the final product with so little manipulation is impressive. I've been sculpting for 3 years or so. It still take a ton if manipulation the get there. Often times I'll have to place a skull on the inside to be sure to get the shape and bony landmarks right. You though? You just straight go for it and it looks awesome. Bravo brother. Imo you're the difference between a real artist and someone like me who just wants to be one.
Thanks a lot for the kind words John! What helped me a lot to be more deliberate with my sculpting was and still is to practice drawing. I frequently practice the basics like drawing the primitive shapes, especially the box and construction methods for drawing the body/face (Proko, Loomis, Riley, Bridgman, etc.) The goal is not to get a pretty drawing out of it but to train my eye to see where I need to put the stroke. And when it comes to being an artist I think the quality of the craftmanship comes secondary to what you want to convey :) All the best with your journey!
@@adam551982 it will be worth it! I see it as a kind of video game where every drawing gives me some experience points in the field I'm trying to improve haha
That's awesome!! Thanks for sharing that! I would say stay curious and approach the practice and work you're doing like trying to answer questions that you have. What do I want to sculpt-> what does a head look like-> how does the eye sit in the eyesocket and further down the rabbit hole. I found that approaching whatever I want to learn in a way that makes me less dependend on the quality of the result and instead focus more on genuinely trying to learn something or being able to articulate better questions that I would like to answer through the practice, made my learning experience much more enjoyable and sustainable
yes there is a video of his son recording their ride trying to get their dogs out of a war zone in Ukraine. They were shot at heavily and he got struck multiple times and passed away. It was/is a heartbreaking video and I did the sculpt to express my condolence for whatever thats worth
@@FynnGB are you in Ukraine now??? Sorry for the open question, it's just that I recently discovered that some of the artists I follow happen to be from Ukraine/Russia.
@@janosbovem2146 No worries! No fortunately I'm not, I'm from Germany. I was following the conflict and saw the video which was quite hard to watch that's why I did that sculpt Yeah there are many talented artists from Ukraine who also did a lot of art around the war
It's been almost two years. Such a kind tribute to the man.
You do it so smoothly.
I wish I could do like this.
