Hi l have 2 motor bafang, but it is stopping to work, please how can l get you for fix me that please
Why not use metal and not have this problem at all?
@@markdove5930 I think the nylon gear makes it quieter.
@@franksabo1751 and it acts as a mechanical fuse for when the motor gets too hot
@@markdove5930 A metal one will give you a lot more trouble it if goes wrong.
6:50 Tip: You have 5x M4 screws on hand for removing that plate. No need to buy more. Same screws that hold your Chain Ring on. Also it's a good idea to place your hand over the Snap Ring when removing it... unless you like chasing around the room looking for it when it fly's off the Snap Ring pliers.
Bonus Tip: Use LUCAS "Red-n-Tacky" on all the gears before reassembly. It'll resist flinging off and is PFTE Nylon(or PEEK if you upgrade to it) Safe.
Best grease of it's type totally agree.
I have a tub of lucas extra heavy duty grease. What about that?
Wow. Nice video man. I wish more technical videos were like that. Straight to the point, good explanation and no BS. Good work man. Two thumbs up!!!
Thank you for this video! I was able to replicate this procedure on my BBS01 thanks to your help. (The nylon gear was fine after 25ooo km, though. The motor does make noise. It got better but not good just by cleaning/greasing, apparently that's all that can be done right now.)
Great stuff, just fitted my bbshd motor but will do this if the motor fails to turn the drive shaft. Already greased the large drive gear and pinion as standard from new, and I must say its very quiet and smooth! ..thanks for the tutorial!
It's good to see how easy these are to work on. I took mine apart a few hundred miles ago to add some grease around the main gear and was lucky enough to not need to replace the cardboard gadget which people seem to have issues with. At least I know that I have a spare if my nylon gear goes at some point. Thanks for showing us the procedure. I doubt there's much difference in between the three main mid-drive units.
As we can "see".
Ok ok. I kid.
Thank you for making this video.
I've got a motor coming and I just wanted to see that I can fix it myself.
Thank you for walking us through all these fixes. (I've seen your other fixes as well).
Snap RING...very nice informationel video. Those moors are easier to maintain then I expected. Nice job!
Really helpful. Great video. You took great care in explaining everything. Much appreciated.
Get a $30 motor tester. You can test throttle, phase wires and Hall effect sensors with out disassembly. And get an electric nut driver to save time. And snap rings have a top and bottom. It also helps to put your hand on top of snap ring pliers so when the snap ring flies off your not on your hands and knees looking for it. Also be careful not to over stretch the ring. It will not fit tight into groove.
Where can a tester be purchased from please?
I think they can be purchased at Amazon. I know *I* bought a tester there a few months back, mostly to test *brake* sensors…
Thank you for this video, you really saved me
A very good video, Golden Motor!
A brilliant very calmly explained video, great stuff 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
Perfect..if I ever have to, I'll we watching this as I do it...thanks.
Excellent. Thanks for sharing!
Very nice video not like others who don't know what they are doing, thanks for your time.
I love it! Nice and well explained no BS thank you Boss.
Yes interesting video thank you, been fitting these motors for 20 years with little problems or any coming back with issues or for repair. Just working on a brand new 350 watt model fitted it and connected the battery and error OH8
Thank you for the video! Will be getting a BBSHD from Golden Motor maybe today! :)
good job bro, reminds me of my work days before retirement, Elevator Technician
Good video in troubleshooting. Can you do a maintenance tear down and recommended grease for all parts of a Bafang BBS02, including bearings, gears ect, recommended maintenance intervals? Thank you Scott
Very helpful, thanks very much.
Thank you great work
Thanks a lot Abbas & Golden motor
Excellent video, thanks.
Hi Golden, yo yo, Great video and really useful. Hop you are well. No idea if you will pick this up but just wondering if you have ever regressed the main gear without removing from the motor from the bike. I have wired my BBSHD in nicely and took a long time so would rather not remove the motor from the bike and so was wondering - is it possible to 'safely and effectively' try degreasing and degreasing her still on the bike? I have the in/out play and so looking to replace the thrust bearing so i'll be in there anyways.
did you need to put loctite on the nylon gear cover screws on reassemble ?
SUPER VIDEO BRAVO!!!!
Glad it helped!
Great Video Showing the Motor's Guts! Do you recommend taking apart the motor to clean re-grease it every say 3000K?
Have you got a vid on the BBS02 Pawl Clutch/pedal freewheel/ratchet?
How do you pass the phase wire thru the grommet hole once you want to put everything back together ? Thanks !!
I have a rad rover with a bafang 750. Not only do I need the gears, but a little bit of moisture(rusted pawls, riveted in) ended up taking out my one way, behind the gears..... my question to you, is it possible to buy this one way drive?
Nice one, thank you
Thank you for this great video. Will you tell me where you get your parts?
Exelent video thanks.
Not a wise idea running the motor with the rotor grinding on the windings. Should be run in both bearings.
Super video 🙂
Is it possible to mount the nylon gear in the opposite/wrong direction? I think it cant because the washer or clip won't fit in the groove of the shaft. I ask this because after regreasing everything with mobilith shc 100, i get an usual screaming noise when the motor turns without the chain.
Great Video interesting and a big thank you. The motor must have had a rough life, I have lost count of how many mid- drives i have fitted in 20 years, not one returned this nylon gear worn.
Im about to replace my controller after error 21 how do you think he tore it up i may have a similar problem. Ive been running the torque hard and the battery starting giving up more and more until the error appeared. Is this where i should start with troubleshooting if the controller doesnt fix it?
@roncooke2188 have mid drive motors been around that long?
Getting ready to take my bafang apart. When I try to pedal without the assist on the chainring doesn’t move. If I turn the assist on the motor kicks on but I still don’t have any engagement of the crank. Have you seen this happen with the bafang?
Hey how do you remove the larger thrust Bearing for the BBSHD ? I'm having problems removing the larger bearing where the rubber seal is located :(
Any tips for the getting the motor shaft back into that bearing I cannot for the life of me get it back together
Good video. It sucks that all motors have nylon gear. I have changed to brass on my TDSZ but my Bafang are stock. Hope it last for some miles. :)
Love what you've done with Golden Motors. Just wanted to say if you start carrying the BBSHD PEEK Gear I'm sure you would sell out in NO time! They've been out for a couple years now and it's still hard to find them not on backorder. P.S If you ever decide to open an East Toronto location like Scarborough I would work for you in a heartbeat!
sehr gut
Thank you
Can you tell me the name of the white wire sealant to waterproof the internal gears and electric s
very good
Thanks bro
i've always wondered why people buy the bafangs, because that nylon gear is a problem waiting to happen, quite silly to use a plastic gear, and the controllers have a high rate of failure too, that's why i prefer the rear hub motor, i've had my 48v 1000w bike since 2014, it has almost 5000 miles on the clock.
By the way How did you damage the motor?
I accidently touched my black and red wire together and it went bank massive spark what could be the problem won't turn on or nothing now please help my battery is all good tho
I just replaced my motor on bbshd, now that it's back together it seems tight somehow. It wants to push the pedals for me also. Does anyone have any idea what tf I did? Thanks for any help
How many miles are on the motor?
Great video thank you, where can the new Nylon Gear, Paper Gasket and Grommets be purchased from please?
The links are in the description
@@goldenmotorNA Thank you.
Hi ,l have 2 bafang isn't working, how can l get you to fix me that please
Is it advisable to use white lithium grease for nylon, plastic & rubber materials?
@kumunoy He should not be using that type of grease, after some research I found out that you should use synthetic grease on plastic/nylon gears, not oil based as he is using, also it needs to be silicon free because of the aluminium casing. I am just about to replace my gear in my bbs02, I'm going to use molykote EM-3L which has the properties I mentioned above, Mobile 28 or Mobile shc 100 also works. Hope this helps someone.
the car pedal support is cut off, it comes back, why does this problem occur?

It is a snap ring, and snap ring pliers. Try using the other holes in the pliers to squeeze open the snap ring.
Hay always willing to help. I have been a mechanic for more than 50 years. Fixed wing air craft mechanic. Cobra helicopter and armament mechanic and technician for 20 years in the army, and now I’m learning ebike. Life is surely fascinating,so much to know.
Yes, could not understand why he was using snap ring (circlip) pliers all wrong, change the pivot point hole!
Tore mine all apart and everything looks perfect. I don't get what's causing the grinding noise. Stumped actually.
More than likely not enough grease on the main steel gear
My bike his display turns off after 1 second. What can it be?
Where to buy the new nylon gear in case we need to replace the damaged one.
Check the description :)
Do you perform rebuilds on BBSHDs?
Yes we do reach out at admin@goldenmotor.ca
@@goldenmotorNA You have a pretty significant price mark-up on everything... but it would be nice to be able to send my HD to someone for an entire rebuild. Stay safe.

It's just one fault after another with the bafang bbshd motor, their cheap, powerful, reliable, easy to use, waterproof, easy to work on, rebuildable,
Did all this and no internal damage found that the chain on recubant was bad, fooled me cause the growling was constant under load, thought it had to be a bearing
Why did they use a nylon gear? Why not a steel gear?
Is the motor supposed to run that loud (after repair) ?
You can actually fix this repair with one single little washer, and it makes the motor whisper quiet. That's all it is
@@fuhkoffandie Where does the washer go, my motor is quite loud so I'd like to make it quieter
I have same problem
snap ring.
How did you know you didn't have a battery issue? I think my issue is battery related but I'm not sure. I'd like to rule that out before I tear the motor apart.
It's real simple. You can literally hear the motor spinning inside the Hub and crunching without the bike moving. Makes a high pitch noise too. Also, mine would grab a little bit and then release for about 20 miles, before it completely let go
@@fuhkoffandie me too can you elaborate on what you did to troubleshoot please
Should of put a metalgear instead of another nylon gear
But thats much much louder
Can't hear it because you have MUSIC playing.
Snap ring not snap pin.
Nice video, thanks. But PLEASE...lose that annoying ridiculous music track. It adds nothing to the video and is painfully distracting.
Why the f do they use nylon gears
Noise and its sacrificial. Nylon gear wears and mating steel screw year doesn't. Nylon is good and not bad if running less than 2000 watts.
I have two bikes with BBS02 motors and 52 tooth chainwheels. Keeping the nylon gear intact means either supplying a considerable amount of the energy applied to starts from high gear with human power or shifting down before you get to an intersection I opened my motor thinking that the nylon gear would be destroyed only to find out that my noise is coming from somewhere else. What I did find is that the cover the mine only has two screws to lift it off did not bring out the bearing which I had to cut off with the Dremel tool. That was a major pain in the ass and it required destroying the nylon gear to get the bearing out so I had to buy one anyway in addition to a new cover plate
At that price I excepted metal full metal gear why using nylon it will fail for sure over time at that power it's stupid. At least use Delrin if you want to use plastic sh|t. What a shame to waste a good product with such stupid thing.
Completely agreed , we have tried suggesting this upgrade to bafang for years, I know many other dealers have done the same , I know there is a new version coming soon hopefully they did implement a full metal gear there
Luna Cycle sells a Metal version of that gear. Warning however. The Metal CNC machined gear is MUCH louder. Luna also has a more silent version Nylon replacement that uses PEEK instead of PFTE Nylon. Search BBSHD Silent PEEK Gear.
Here's an Article on PEEK: electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/peek-gear-for-the-ultra-needed.41723/
