    Claudia!! im getting a very late start into Ballet at 18.. its always been a dream of mine i just never thought i could do it my self! Trying to find schools that teach male adult dancers with no experience, you could imagin how hard it is..but your videos help me practice what i can until i can get into Ballet classes!

      That's so exciting! I started ballet at 18 as well and now I am 24! What I did was start in a studio that offered Teen/Adult Ballet classes. Those are usually very introductory and has a large group of people who have never danced before. After a year the director of the studio asked if I wanted to start improving within the studio and evaluated me and put me in a trail ballet class with some younger kids (like 10-12 years old) I took that class for a few months and then they moved me up to intermediate. After two years I was able to move on up to pointe and with the advanced classes! It all started with the Teen Adult classes! Also don't be afraid to take classes with kids! I had to transfer studios because of moving and I am now the oldest person in the entire studio XD but I don't mind!

    Would love a video about flexibility for adults. I feel like some of us who barely had splits at a younger age are questioning how much more flexible we can get and how to do so safely. I'm only 26 but already feel like I'm hitting a wall with flexibility.

    • @bdq131

    • @whocares7093
      @whocares7093 Před 3 lety

      I think the best answer is "listen to your body". You can get flexible at any age, but your body will take longer than a child's. Stretching should never hurt (it may feel uncomfortable though). But if anything hurts take a rest and if a joint (knee or hip) keeps hurting you should visit a doctor to check if there are any anatomical issues. But as long as you keep these in mind and are patient, you can reach high flexibility at any age. Good luck!

  • @whiskeyinthejarful
    @whiskeyinthejarful Před 4 lety +6

    Hi I hope this info helps anyone old (i.e., over 16 lol) trying to increase flexibility: for background I thought I'd work really hard (starting in my late 20s) and get my splits in a matter of months or even weeks - never had them in my life but when I started beginner ballet as an adult I really wanted them. LOL. I was so naive... sadly, it actually took me FIVE BLOODY YEARS - but I did finally get my side splits on both sides at 34 years old! I love Claudia's channel and she has also helped my flexibility immensely because she was the first person I heard say (and I don't know why this isn't more widely known/talked about) that flexibility actually depends on strength. That blew my mind! You NEED to strengthen in order to lengthen, there is no such thing as weak but stretchy muscles... just an injury waiting to happen, as I found out again and again before I understood how to strengthen and lengthen all the underused muscles (like adductors) that go into the splits. I would also highly recommend checking out/googling a lady named Stacey Neymour. She is a flexibility guru and even if you don't pay for her programs or sessions (I didn't), she has incredibly helpful free tips and videos. I credit her advice with eventually helping me get my splits, and I know if I had followed her advice all along I would have gotten them way faster (without knowing her methods, I actually injured myself a few times and set myself back months -__-). TL;DR-to get the most flexible you've ever been, strengthen as much as you can with Claudia's exercises and check out STacey Neymour to lengthen.

    Claudia you made wonderful points but also if you’re not properly, placing your body like people with hypermobility like me, I know have a grade one muscle strain, and how to be careful for the next couple of weeks to not progress it, but if I had been properly placing and properly warming up before class. I wouldn’t have gone that muscle strain, very important to be warm before class

    I would so love if you could (somehow!) do a collab with Kathryn Morgan! A reaction/commentary vid looking at some of your performances would be lovely,too, if you've got any videos you don't mind showing us.

    Dear God Claudia! Thank you so much gor ex. n2!!! Finally i got an exeptional answer on how and with which exact muscles lift that leg! You have no idea how some of us suffer because we use wrong muscles. As you said, we use hip stretcher to lift and absolutely forget about inner. It's much easier with exercise n2!!!❤❤❤ Thank you thank youuu!!

    Hi Claudia! I've been tracking with your videos for awhile now and find the tips really helpful. I especially appreciate your pirrouette tips, and was wondering if you could do a video on landing/finishing a turn?
    I appreciate your videos, thanks so much!

    This video helped me soo much! So I’m pretty sure I have flat turn out and in the video you said to not(?) work the muscle in the front. So I was wondering when I do develope which muscle should I be focusing on?
