Had a good computer, camera, tripod, SD-cards etc already when decided to start a YT channel. So that was convenient 😅 All we really needed to buy was some light, so we bought two cheap softboxes on Amazon and they worked out really well. And it does make a huge difference! The most difficult part of starting my channel was def to just hit that record button 🙈 But once you've done your first video, 95% of the worries and anxiety goes away. Just do it! I’m only shooting from an iPhone using a small Tripod stand and using window lighting. I edit on my iPhone and post from my phone.

When I record on my phone my time always run out.

That's the best way to start I've seen some amazing videos that were produced this way. Oh and by the way you have just gained a new subscriber.
There's no hurry. I only upgrade my gear when I know exactly what the issue with my current gear is and I know exactly what feature is required to address it. I improve the weakest links one at a time.
The gear rabbit hole runs deep and I’m loving it more than I’d like to admit.
I am making youTube videos just with my iPhone, nothing else. You just need to believe on yourself that you can create good content. Best of luck 🤞
Nobody mentions this but - some of the most important things are a dummy battery for your camera and a capture card, so that you can connect the camera to your computer/laptop when recording long session videos (even short videos, if you are in front of a computer) - it's a lot easier not having to worry about battery life and SD card space, and just have your video on the computer instantly. Also allows you some additional control when shooting videos and recording through OBS

I started my channel with a Go Pro 7 and now I just got the Sony ZV-1 and I love it. Down side is my computer just died so now I have to get a new one. I'll be back up and posting soon hopefully. :)

If you're looking for a really affordable option under 27 dollars then you should get the Boya BYM1 lav mic its really good quality sound, has a long cable, and can be used on a smartphone, camera, laptop, and any recorder with a TRS or TRRS cable or headphone jack. Just to let you know it is directly connected to your camera or phone and has to be directly connected to you, so I would not really recommend this for vlogging or if you are going to be moving around a lot or want audio from multiple sources.

One essential I forgot when I got my Canon M50 - wireless remote. Ordered mine just now so that I can have a remote for each camera and my Zoom H2n. That way I can start and stop them all without leaving my spot and I don't forget to roll or cut any of them.

I don’t use a camera. I use iPhone for upload and edit. And I have a light pole it is 3 in 1 it comes with the light and slot where I can put my phone on it and a microphone.😊

I have a very specific question about filming set up I'm hoping someone could help me with.
Is it possible to have a set-up where I have a camera that I can use for videos where I am out of home in combination with a portable microphone like a Rode Wireless Me, but then I can plug the same camera into my Desktop PC to record videos directly onto my PC such as reactions and streaming and use it in combination with a standing desk microphone. Ideally, I'd like to not have to buy two different cameras for each of these, and webcams don't seem to cut it for what I want to do.

I just started uploading on my channel last week Sunday ; 2 videos up thus far. I was ecstatic when I learned how to do a cut away 😂😂😂, as I am NOT tech savvy ... but I must say, that I kinda actually DO enjoy editing and learning. And this is coming from someone who has no idea when it comes to tech ! I’m using my I- phone to film , and I- movie to edit. I had to however, free up tons of space on my phone to save the video 😱
