Thanks man! Doing the work on my own made it that much more surreal. This is still the first engine I put together in 2021 and it is still running strong. We will see how it holds up next year haha

these cars can be insanely fast due to their 2600-2700lbs weight
He said in the video it's 3200 with a full tank and him in it. A 2 door non-turbo base model impreza is 2600 lbs but built GC's always pass the 3000lbs mark unless you gut it. Version 6 sti's were almost 2800lbs without the driver.
@@RandomlnternetGuy yep. 3220lbs with me in it. I am sure swapping in the 6 speed, extra piping, bigger turbo, intercooler, etc adds a lot of weight. I also have a steel hood. Trying to shave off some weight going CF hood, trunk and doors but we will see. Regardless, 600+ in anything under 3200lbs is super quick!
@@ItsLoupsfrom what I've heard, the roof only shaves off 3 or 4 lbs due to having to add reinforcing. Might wanna skip it for the price of a CB roof lol

Gc3 impreza is the lightest at just under 2700 lbs, thats the base model i believe so sti running gear would nudge it closer to 2900-3200lbs roughly
My one bugaboo here is the four points...there's a reason why SCCA requires 5 point minimum for harnesses...if you ever crash in this thing at speed you're gonna slip right underneath that lap belt...the 5th point on your groin will most likely keep you in the seat. This segways into a whole other barrel of fish, but for the most part this is an amazing 2.5 rs build. I hope the owner sees this comment and does some research regarding harnesses and why a 5 point is a hands down, no brainer route to go with.
You are not wrong. These harnesses have “ASM” technology. It should help the submarining effect, but I am well aware forsure. I am going to be looking more into the safety stuff next year. I am going to put the car down til next year. Been spending too much on this thing. I need a break haha

I was thinking about that after the shoot. I made it on here, that means more to me than anything else! I love all cars man. I am a fan of everything. I almost bought an Evo 9 a few years back. I still want another. I have owned GTis, Golf Rs, STis, and a CTSV. All cars are awesome!

Not just that, I wanted to really push my GM6 and see what the boundaries are. I have discovered many flaws along the way. I literally blew a hole in my previous 6 speed- It is on my youtube and instagram lol

While forced induction changes things quite a lot, there's basic altitude formulas to use for power loss by altitude. Example: 500 horsepower at sea level is 420.8 horsepower at one mile altitude.

My 07 wrx 5 speed jdm 4:44 holds 400 wheel hp and 425 ftlbs of torque for awhile now. It’s in a 85rx turbo sedan. 2369 weight with me and passenger. 06 sti motor harness and ecm.
So your 07 WRX weighs like 2000lbs? Did you cut half of it off? Stock weight 3192...

@@HondAcura111 it’s subarus first wrx but before the w. It’s almost just like a Honda Accord 90-92 gen 1 just subaru style. Same concept as Travis pastrana a wagon but mines a sedan I started 11 years ago.
@@HondAcura111 and yes i feel like IV thrown away at least 500 lbs of bolts alone that were not used for anything but holding the goods in place. It’s been pretty gutted but I still need to add a cage, my goal was 2800 lbs finished weight maybe less if, we will see but the scale said 2335 with 2 passengers and myself.

@@builtvisions Exactly, it was the EJ25 N/A that was mostly common for head gaskets issues in the earlier model Subarus. I own a 2006 STi for 9 years. Never had a single engine problem with it.
@daturbo4life711 during the shift from na ej22's to na ej25's subaru decided to use a composite headmaster instead of a MLS gasket. Replace the composite with MLS and the problem is solved. People have made way to big a deal about that issue.

That is what I always say. I always give out the lower numbers because that is what the dyno technically read. HP is just a number to measure for tuners on the dyno. That is how I see it. My 736whp can be quicker than someone’s 850whp or vice versa. It is just a number 😆

i thought it was a friendly race at first- The owner is cool though. I was on my ~620whp setting and his car makes 820whp. The second race was when he did not throw the peace sign. I like test hitting on people just to see how I keep up! I had another 13psi on tap haha

Stock front axles and my history of breaking my drivetrain is what really holds me back from attempting more launches. My RPF1s have a hard time catching traction so I do not mind on those. The drivetrain takes less stress. It will break all 4s loose on 255s @ around 600whp haha

Its really nice build, i miss my bugeye, blew up two stock and a built engine with it, i can only imagine the time and sacrifce to get this one so good. I had grpN 5spd, longer first gear was OK for dragracing, the 6spd seems like your always shifting

had a buddy in hs that had a rhd gc8 and it was mainly stock with a few bolt ons. Thing was so light and was quick. IMO best looking subaru they made. Id own one just to bad the engines are so damn unreliable. His blew up a couple weeks after buying. Had a buddy with a frs and it blew up. Had another buddy that blew his subaru up 3 times and sold it after the 3rd time lol. My brothers legacy gtb waagon and it blew up. All these engines were dead stock btw expect for the gc8 and were babied. They finally seemed to fix the subaru engine with the va engine. FINALLY after 20 years of subarus blowing up they finally made a reliable engine(somewhat)

Cool GC8, skipped though the vid didnt see anything about the evo it raced. Assuming the evo was one of the giveaways? It wasnt an evo123 with a 6bolt 4g63 and modded as much as the GC8, right? Itd be cool to see a race similar mods and similar generation.
