THANKS!
My wife and I went to Amsterdam and weren’t expecting to be blown away by the street food but we were. I am actually kinda shocked you guys only gave herring a 6/10, that is hands down so far possibly the best street food I’ve had in any country I’ve visited. Something about it.
Sweden can serve herring.
@@urbanprojectz thanks mate, will remember that and definitely give it a shot when I visit someday!
@@urbanprojectz Rotten herring in tomato sauce. No scandinavian herring for me!!
@@AlbertZonneveld no way, we went to Bullen - Två Krögare in Malmo and it was amazing. Their two types of herring was insane, I’ve tried in multiple times in the Netherlands and it hasn’t come close.
0:55 poffertjes and pancakes are made with batter, not dough. And the batter is different, they add yeast to the poffertjes batter, which makes them fluffy. Yummmmmm
Two tips from a Dutchie: you can buy a small bag stroopwafel crumbs for next to nothing and they are the nicest thing to eat. They also slather some caramel on top. When you eat kibbeling you have to eat it with the traditional accompanying sauce. It's called ravigotesaus (sometimes remouladesaus) and it's a bit fresher than mayonaise and really lifts the flavour of the fish 😊
bro hes alr dutch
@@Realreverseboino he is Romanian and living in the Netherlands
that sauce is unbeatable
@@GuusBronkhorst 💀
Nahh garlic sauce all the way! 😄
dutch cuisine as a whole is nothing special (or at least not the utrecht-gelderland region foods that i grew up eating), but they really know how to do street food right
Frl
Yeah like their stuff looks really appetizing. I can't wait try it when I go there.
onzin😡
That was my thoughts when I went. Didn’t care for the food except they had good street food
Same for Belgium, street food + beer
As a true Dutchman I recommend trying “appelflappen” it is a Dutch sugary triangle with apple inside it. I hope you’ll try it!
Appleflappen are very good true true
Well kwook is dutch i think dat hij dat wel kent auwe
@@pheidole8730he lives here in the Netherlands but he isn't Dutch
They’re called apple turnovers in English! Love me an appelflap
Ja en bolussen
as a dutch myself i was anxious af before clicking on this video, but surprisingly enough you weren't too cantankerous this time :D glad you enjoyed the poffertjes, they are deff 10/10
The seagull who stole the stroopwaffle is the most evil villain there is 😢
We all knew that seagulls are pure evil, this was just another reminder.
Ive never seen your channel begore but this video feels like hanging out with the boys and it cheered me up thank you
Very fun and educational video! 😍 We could eat poffertjes all day, every day as well. 🤤
We can't wait to see more of your adventures!
Netherlands redemption arc went hard! I am actually interested in their cusine now!
Perfectly timed for my upcoming Amsterdam trip ❤️
Love your videos!
Loved this video. Very entertaining. Subbed because of it.
Very fun and educational, and I love you guys together -- you make a terrific entertainment team :)
I’m kind of disappointed y’all didn’t have a kapsalon! They were invented in Rotterdam and are absolutely my go-to late night food after going out on a Saturday night
Frl
He lives in the Netherlands so maybe he will do another video like this in the future
Kapsalon can be very hit-and-miss though, needs some exploration to find a great one.
@@Rykballhe doesnt lol
Theres nothing inherently dutch about this dish. From the ingredients to the creator lol
I went to New Zealand on time and they had some stroopwafels over there as well, was really amazed because they were made in the netherlands. Good stuff brov
Some people eat those smaller "stroopwafels" which you buy in any grocery store with their coffee/tea.
If you do so, you should leave the "stroopwafel" on top of your coffee/tea-mug for a while so it gets soft, it's the best.
My Indian friend loves stroopwafels and when I told her about putting it on a cup of tea it absolutely blew her mind :D she cooked for me though, and Dutch food is shit compared to Indian food haha
@@jonnnnniej Indian cuisine is the absolute best.
Dutch food is basically food for people that can't cook.
@@schnaderHachee, Stoofvlees, Appeltaart, Stampot/Hutspot/Stimpstamp/Boerenkool, Wild Stoof, Kapsalon, Bitterballen be like: allow us to introduce ourselves.
6:27 Frikandellen are made of 'turkey separator meat'. A separator is a machine that squeezes the last fibers of meat off a carcass.
i love the netherlands can’t wait to go back and see groningen. I’ve practiced some dutch thankfully
I don’t know if you are going to see this, but I really hope you’ll do another series of Christmas dishes around the world this year too!🙏🙏.
Good idea
Love the vibe! A similar vid in Istanbul with you guys would be great to watch, too, I am sure 👨❤️💋👨
That little car at 1:42 looks like it came straight out of a Disney movie 😂
It’s designed for the elderly but gotte popular among richer youths here in Amsterdam. Reason why is because it’s classified as a scooter, so they do not require an automobile licence (gotta be 18) but only scooter licence (can get it at 16). The top speed is45km/h but sometimes they boost it to go a bit quicker 😂
The carousel pancake place is my Wife and I’s favourite place. We go every time we visit Amsterdam. Great choice!
i love how straightforward these two are
I won't say straight
Ah Kwoowk vs Dutch foods, the legendary feud
I love your videos! Please make more of these videos! Maybe about indonesian food?
Love your videos...I am from Amsterdam 🤘🏽
You got all the essential foods in there, real nice 😃
Had a McKroket at McDonalds near Amsterdam. It's exactly what you expect but i loved it
You guys are a legendary trio❤
Day 11 of asking to try the Mongolian Breakfast
I also studied in Eindhoven (like you) and I already could tell you many better places for Dutch food just in Eindhoven! :)
So this was great, Thank you. More.
I have not forget what you said about sandwich with hagelslag..
Kapsalon, poffertjes, dutch pancakes, herring, dutch apple pie, appleflap, potatopuree (aardappelpuree), hutspot (mashed potato with carrot), hete bliksem (mashed potato with apple), kroket, frikandel, viandel (crispy frikandel), bitterballen (ball form of kroket), mashed potato of anything (like broccoli with minced meat and spices, my own idea), dutch fries like bram ladage or a local store in the south of the netherlands, bamischijf, shaslick, berenkluif, limburgs stoofvlees, oliebollen, appelbeignets, fries suikerbrood, braadworst, ..... Maybe check a few other stuff next time...
I wasnt even talking about dutch candy or sauces..
You should try bloedworst en vleesworst en fladder in de Bijlmer from the guy at C&A 😉
Respect to you for trying Dutch street food despite your prejudice against Dutch food. I think that Dutch street food is also better than the traditional stew dishes (stamppot) that are very heavy on the stomach and contains too little flavor if they are not prepared properly. You should definitely try the Kroketten. Much better than Frikandellen imho
What prejudice?
Kibbeling and poffertjes are one of my fav foods tbh😭😭 i always crave some kibbeling while cycling past the fish shop😂
Looks Very Good That Fried Fish!!! Nice Report From You. 💙🙏🗺
😂 honestly I love all the stamppotten
Thic carmel waflle you must put above a cup of hot tea. Steam wich will come out of tea will make it softer and more flavourful
I thought you needed to do that with store bought ones. Aren't the fresh waffles already soft?
@@Iam_Qachalyes you're right, the fresh ones are warm already
Hello! Can you make a video or a short on pastitsio, the truly most popular dish in Greek cuisine which is really underappreciated?
Heel lekker hoor. Fijne dag😂❤
A friend from Netherlands brought Stroop Waffles with him. I am not a fan of sweet food but stroop waffles are an exception.
That food looks so good
I was ready to make the "they stole the spices from us for hundreds of years and this is what they come up with?" Joke, but these look pretty good..
You know them dutchies be smoking some flowers when they invented these sugary foods 😆 ik will hakkeeeh! 🇳🇱
Looking good man! Love your content 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
The poffertjes are how i eat french toast. Lots of 🧈 with powdered sugar 0:59
Pannenkoeken aren’t savoury by necessity! They can be eaten with any range of things, the most popular options are actually sirup and powdered sugar!
You're kidding right?? The pancake itself is already savoury. Doesn't matter what toppings you choose, you're definitely eating a savoury food (possibly topped with sweet things)
@@SonOfJ pannekoeken aren’t savoury by nature, i’d say they’re rather sweet! That might be a difference in taste or preparation! I’ve been eating them my whole life and have never experienced them as savoury.
@@viserion1682They're just flour, eggs, water and salt. A kind of puffy tortilla. Or flattened white bread that was fried. Definitely a kind of savoury taste by itself. Especially if they were fried slightly crispy. That's why it goes so well with sweet toppings, the slightly salty pancake complements the sweet topping very well.
@@erwintimmerman6466 i’d trade water for milk, but they’re not at all like a tortilla of bread, they’re very different in my opinion. Sure, you can have them savoury but to me they’re inherently a very sweet food, and the pannenkoeken themselves taste rather sweet too, which is why the most common options are to eat them with sweet toppings! They’re also not fried in oil, but made in a pan with plenty of butter!
@@viserion1682 Frying in butter is still called frying ;-) It's probably a matter of opinon. Without any toppings I find the taste of pancakes slightly savoury, which the ingredients also suggest.(and I probably made thousands by now 🙂)
I would first try the basic frikandel then the special one .!
Lets see which one u like better!
The frikandel speciaal should have Hela Curry ketchup and not tomato ketchup. Then its way better. With ketchup I would rate it even lower then a 4,5.
I love this channel but the Dutch must gain the Pacific Northwest understanding; embrace the rain, wear some sturdy shoes, and wear some jackets that are sturdy and wind resistant. Guys, rain isn’t bad, actually, rain is good overall. Just embrace it and live within it. Umbrellas ☂️ are for the weak
I’m sorry - are you implying the Dutch don’t understand how to dress for rain because 😂😂😂 I wanna try what you’re smoking
@@LikeTheProphetI can understand that it looks like that. Most of us don't care enough to dress for the rain because of how much we are used to it.
I don't think you understand. before we have our rain gear on the rain has stopped and the sun is out again. We have to be prepared for anything. Sometimes that means some t-shirt a short and a umbrella
McDonalds in the Netherlands used to have a McFlurry stroopwafel. I’m still not over the fact they dropped it from the menu.
It's a seasonal thing usually only available in the winter
@@010Jordi really? I havent seen it in years. Then again I dont go to McDonalds often.
It's backkkk
@@BurningBrightly whattttttt
Yesss since last week it's back temporarily (since 9 Jan)
Lekker smikkelen boys, geniet ervan!
My man when will you make feijoada???? It will blow your mind it's the ultimate bean stew
Good vibes 👍
KWOOK please review the Mexican national dish, Mole😋
Ik heb nog nooit verse stroopwafels op.
Dude gave a frikandel a 4. As a kid when we visited my family in Italy during the summer holidays. We had had this cigarette lighter powered fridge on the backseat between me and my sister filled with frikandellen to hand out to my Italian relatives. They loved those things.
You need to hit the coffee shop before the poffertjes though 😂
Oehh stroopwafel😍😍😍
En broodje haring!🐟🧅
❤🤍💙
You should have bought a "rookworst" from the Hema store.
the fries you ate are called patat(je) oorlog, and you should try them again!!
4:42 "stole from Indonesia"...
Dutch East Indies would like to enter the chat
As a Belgian you ducth people have some good pancakes
as a dutch your mayonaise sucks
and dutch one too
and every mayonaise
Yoo im coming to amsterdam tomorrow!!
The first bird is not a pigeon its a jackdaw haha. Anyhow good video!
I have family in the Netherlands and my sister in law said their cuisine is not a big deal but from my point of view there is some interesting dishes.
Both correct, overall it's not special but we do have some gems.
Kroketten are great, as are pancakes and poffertjes. Other than that though the only good parts of Dutch cuisine are the stuff that we stole from the people we colonized 😂
I wish this video was longer
I miss their fries and stroopwafel (poffertjes are my favorites but i can find them where I live)
hi can you please try a danish hotdog? thanks
BUT 1 en the only thing you need tho eat in the dutch is stampot plis try it ( i love your vids )
Nobody's gonna talk about how the two of them were acting like a couple the entire vid😂
When Rain, the Korean singer watches this, he gonna be upset
You should try come to Denmark sometime! Cophenhagen Got simular street food to Dutchland but looks like its done Better imo.
Dutchland
Your long form content is very good (:
As a Dutch food historian ( yes that is my occupation) I am always baffled that people bash Dutch food for being bad and uninspired while these days we are a big melting pot of all kinds of cuisines like New York is too. But in New York that’s innovative, and here it’s suddenly because Dutch food is supposedly bad and boring.
Dutch people don't know their food heritage well, and let themselves down by bashing it further. It’s a shame. Most Dutch people cannot name more than herrings, kroketten and poffertjes/ stroopwafels but there truly is much more. I am writing a book for internationals about Dutch food, so in due time I will explain more. For now I just recommend looking beyond the surface.
So I am glad you did @kwook . But this is just snacks, I invite you to learn more ❤
Try to explain the idea behind 'gourmetten' to foreigners👍
that pigeon at 3:35 was a sparrow ;)
6:03 ayo 😂
The fresh haring at a fish handle in Dordrecht tastes like shashimi. But most haring stands are mid
Where are from?
Please try Aalu ke paraathe it is traditional dish of India but not national but yummy dish and one of the my favourite dish
Haha geweldig 😂😂😂😂
Can you try Ecuadorian food plssss
Tip from a Dutchie: roll the pancake and eat it
Congratulations on the content! May God always bless and enlighten you! May God always bless and enlighten whoever is reading this comment too!
Poffertjes are made with buckwheat. Very important!
I’m travelling in the Netherlands currently so I’ll try some of these foods
Huh, I’m here too
I just knew you were going to rate the frikandel a 5 😁. It's a sausage that's so un-meat-like, I almost consider it vegetarian 😆. Of all my friends I'm the only one who doesn't like them. They're not horrible (I will eat them if I'm hungry and that's all there is), just the superlative of meh. So yeah, 4 to 5 is absolutely correct IMO.
Now go to a "broodjeszaak" (diner with all kinds if breads and buns) and order a bun with filet americain (raw ground beef with spices), topped with salt, pepper, egg and raw onion. Heaven.
I can relate to the weather 😭
short video but it felt long :) should side hustle some asmr of the cities and rain
i like how he's pretending he's not dutch and acts as if it's the first time eating all of this lmao
Yea I was thinking don't you live in the Netherlands?
@@rhizopus683 I live in the Netherlands and I have never had a fresh stroopwafel because I don't think i will like it. I ve only had haring once, and kibbeling i dont like because that batter they coat the fish with when fried produces a taste i dont like
He's Romanian, living in the Netherlands
Lmao their personalities are very similar, interesting vibes. Not annoying
can you come to atlanta please?
For the best pancakes in Amsterdam, head to Boerderij Meerzicht in the Amsterdamse Bos. Totally different game from what you get at De Carrousel. And if you want something completely out of the ordinary, go for the Van Stapele cookie, it's absolutely worth it.
Hey, if you try some pancakes you should also try the sweet version :)
Nice hat, Kwoowk 😆
4:47 patatje oorlog?! 😊
3:35 lol, that’s not a pigeon, it’s a starling. The 2nd one is a pigeon.
i want to go to Amsterdam!!! I need this food.
Stroopwaffel looks like a 10/10
Next time, put some rum on them poffertjes!
Your poncho is hilarious
