    Dude... So Awesome that you did this. I'll be using PAS 1 most of the time, especially when I want to go on long rides. This is such great information. Someone else (so you don't have to) ought to do the same test using all the PAS settings. And I just LOVE your videos. And LOVE your sense of humor. Keep up the good work, man... You've definitely got a "knack" for this type of content.

    You’d probably go a lot farther on pavement. You should also try c14 at 1 to lower the wattages in the pedal assist, makes the bike much nicer to ride. Ultimately it’s all about the watt hours and physics. If you lay off the throttle, your butt will give out before the bike. I hope you can try out the full suspension freedom, you would go nuts.

  • @FreakyT333
    @FreakyT333 Před 8 měsíci +3

    That was about spot on with my guess considering your heavier than me and was riding on dirt the whole time. I guessed 55-57 miles. I did 48 miles on my Cruiser in mixed terrain using pas 1-3 pedaling 90% of the time with a few throttle bumps to cross streets throughout the bike trail. I had maybe 2-3 miles left (at about 52v resting) when my ass called the game. Maybe I had more left than I thought but the battery bar was flashing for a few miles at that point. Thanks for suffering bro!

    Nice Job! Tuning in from MN. Came accross you and subscribed over the last couple months shopping for my wifes 1st E-bike. Settled on the Wired Cruiser (Orange). It arrived yesterday and I put it all together and we got a few test rides in. We have had a CRAZY winter and Zero snow. Temps in the 40's/50's until our first "major" snow tonight - may get a few inches. 😂
    I took the bike on a ride today before the storm and effortlessly rode 20 miles. (1bar) I "unlocked" the settings half way through the ride as I was annoyed by continuously hitting the 20mph limit. Found my top speed in PAS 5 to be 41 mph on the blacktop. If there were bugs out, I would be a Happy Rider with bugs in my teeth as I was grinning ear to ear the whole time!
    I ordered the Freedom! Now we wait and watch the snow melt! Good Luck on your ventures and keep it Unrestricted! God Bless the USA!!

  • @emaguigad
    @emaguigad Před 8 měsíci +3

    I did 70 miles on PAS1 only on the Wired Freedom (setting at #1 with the least assist to PAS1), flat concrete, no wind at 160lbs and still had juice left at 55v...so realistically, 80 miles isn't exaggerated ...

    • @shootthechit
      @shootthechit  Před 8 měsíci

      Yea, I think its possible but its not exactly realistic to say 80 mile range. Their site seems to emphasize more on 60 miles now which I think is a much more realistic number to achieve. Its not just Wired but all the e-bike companies do this and I assume same with EVs. I bet at some point there will be a standardized test

    when I was growing up in a Milwaukee suburb I used to cut the neighbors lawn for $10.00. He was a penny pinching psychiatrist and it took hours going back and forth, back and forth and the only consolation I had was that I could not be crazy because I was cutting a psychiatrists lawn, latter on in life when I was seeing a psychiatrist I never shared this because I thought he might think I am crazy. If I would have been living the unrestricted life style I probably never would have had to see him in the first place.

    A quick shout out because you did make me laugh. In my younger years I was an endurance athelete and mountain bike racer. I did 60 and 100 mile races...in the dirt and hills. I am contemplating a return to cycling with an ebike. My curiosity is centered on your experiment: how long can a heavier rider actually go on one of these bikes? My research as found most manufacturers use a 150ln rider to determing their "max" mileage. 150 pounds????? WTF? I raced at 203. Who weighs 150lbs? Anyway, thanks for your reviews on the Wired and doing the endurance test. Like others have stated a pavement only test might find different results.

    • @shootthechit
      @shootthechit  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I know seriously, not many adults are 150lbs. Thats why every time we go to Costco all the L and XL shirt sizes are gone but the tables are filled with S and M. Not that theres anything wrong with that!
      You wont regret getting an e-bike especially if you enjoyed cycling and not just the competition portion of it. Really helps take away the "suck" in a lot of rides since you can still do hills or up the assist if you need to. They really are a game changer
      Thanks for watching!

    Great video! I have the first edition version of this bike it is called wicked . I have my settings set up for Max performance. When I'm in pedal assist one on level ground my speed will go up to 20 mph . I ride on Strictly asphalt. I have street tires on my bike , they are called origin 8 Supercell. I have had two trips that I have Road 60 Mi both trips . But that was on a very warm 90-degree day with very little if no wind at all. And that was staying in pedal assist one most of the time sometimes pedal assist 2.. I run my air pressure in my tires at 17.5 PSI I think the tires in the weather makes a huge difference in the range that you get.

    • @shootthechit
      @shootthechit  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Nice, I bet I could get 60 miles as well on asphalt. Also have Tannus tire inserts on the bike so I think those probably took a few miles off the range as well. How do you like those tires? Did you need to replace the stock tires, or did you want to go with a street tire?

    • @shootthechit
      @shootthechit  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I'm not familiar with that brand but I have noticed with a lot of brands you really have to ride the battery all the way down to know where it will stop. I feel like the end of the gauge goes significantly faster than the rest. Either way 43 miles is good enough range for 95% of all situations right?

    • @IMBruceECLECTIC
      @IMBruceECLECTIC Před 8 měsíci

      @@shootthechit I was not either until this year....Citizen Cycle did reviews and then I researched. Excellent bike so far---about 300 miles. Great build quality and powerful. I have done a lot of different riding styles to get a gauge of the battery life. The longest run with about 5 volts left---also was doing an average speed of 15 mph. When I have done both motors and and 30+ mph for most of the riding---nearly exhausted at 30 miles.....trial and error. Keep up the great videos!

    my first youtube video was the ariel rider kepler range test on PAS 1 at 15mph. Got to 65 miles! then had to pedal back to the car with no power for the last few miles, after pedaling for 4 hours beforehand. My butt has never been the same after that painful ride. I wonder how many more miles you would have gotten if you were on pavement with less rolling resistance.

    • @shootthechit
      @shootthechit  Před 8 měsíci +1

      How many watts does the Kepler draw in PAS 1? I bet if I took out the tannus inserts and rode on pavement surface, 65 miles would be doable. Not in a hurry to attempt that one again though. It really does take a toll on your butt lol

    Tests are done in a lab with a rolling road and a wimp of a person who weighs 165lbs and no wind resistance, they don't do the full range only a few miles and then calculate what it's potential could be.

      I'm sure it hurt a bit but I wasn't really trying to squeak out every last drop. The track is fairly hard packed but you're right, I'm sure on pavement it would have gotten a few extra miles and my bike also has Tannus tire inserts which adds extra weight so that probably took a bit away as well. My goal wasn't to squeak out every last drop, but to see how far it would go in PAS 1 only in a set environment with no hills. The track is fairly hard packed so it wasn't too soft but you're right, pavement would have helped a bit
