Not sure if ya know but you should make a humidity hide :) they’re easy to google and make.
Just a tip, make sure the terrarium is fully complete before getting your gecko.
“Lay-oh-pard” gecko
lol
Lol
What’s with the chain of l.o.l lol
Hey give him a break, he’s probably “ray-oh-tarded.”
@@JPtheGamer650 AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
Makes me want one. Oh wait...
LOL!!
Exploring Alabama get one! Then you can have twins. ~ Texas
Lmao! I sometimes I feel like I don’t have one either because he’s quite shy during the day so... but I love him nonetheless! I think as a 12 year old he’s the best thing that happened to me.
Sorry for ranting... I end accidentally ranting sometimes.. 😑🙄
Fyi the moss is to put in a moist hide, moise hides are for when they are shedding, you cna make one with a plastic container or one of the hides i already have, just be sure to mist the hide with water so it can stay moist, basicly it help them get thier shed off easier
So excited for you! Will enjoy the updates! 🦎
It was hilarious how you said leopard gecko
LeO pArrD gecko 🦎
Thank you all for watching my video, please remember to like, subscribe, and leave a comment of what you think.
Exploring Alabama Jr first sorry if this makes you mad but you need balls than a special mat thing
you also need a thermostat for your heat mat
I can’t wait to get my gecko
Same here
I just got my baby leopard gecko yesterday! Shes a lavender Mack gem morph and so pretty:D I went straight to bio active because I wanted her to have a natural environment I think it likes it lol loved the video
What a cool little pet. I learned several things about geckos 🦎 interesting they need calcium. He has a nice home now. 👍🏻. ~ Texas
Don’t take tips from petsmart or petco.
Yup
Basically
or people you don't know...like all of us lol . Do your own research and avoid vaping teens who think they know everything, oh and old men
Me realizing that I spent $150 for the cage, lamp, food, waterbowl and another $10 for the hide.but 1 month later I see that enclousure that has every thing I needed for just$100 .omg am so dumb
dont use moss in any place other than the humid hide
This is awesome! I’ve loved lizards since I was a kid. Wish I’d had one of these then!
Go buy one
@@ME-qo2yjbro chill
I am so glad that you guys tossed that horrible Reptisand, good choice.
Also, you guys seemed really educated, Great video!
Thanks for watching
It’s a 4 month old video and you guys probably already fixed it, but with heat mats, don’t forget to leave some airflow under the tank to make sure the heater doesn’t get too hot and break or hurt your gecko
We did go check out my new video to see an update.
@@Herpingalabama I really hope you have it on a thermostat to control the temperature (:
I’m getting one in less than a week hopefully getting everything finished tomorrow (EXCITED!)
Good thing y'all knew not to use sand though, just a pointer try to avoid the "thrive" company
Also eco earth is better than sand since it’s easier to pass through the digestive system. Your gecko will have a great life in your tank from what I see!
I got to many running around here on my porch and in my yard. But my mother loves them.
Thats awesome, your living my dream!😄
Makes me miss the gecko's in Hawaii, but not enough to go back there. What a charming handsome gecko he was. Will you name him? Thanks for sharing, this was fun and informative. Have a great day!
Yes I will name him once I figure out its gender. Thank you
Nice, thanks EA jr
Nice! Give us an update on your Leopard Gecko 🦎
im glad u put him on the heat pad whilee he was in the box he came in, my brother got one and while setting up the cage it got too cold and died :(
Great job researching before you go out and buy it.
Thanks EAJr.
I got a leopard gecko for Christmas and when I was doing research I watched this video lol and I got mine from petsmart too
Awesome, you should consider watching my 2021 update. Gives lots of info on care and supplies. Thanks for watching
Dude!.. that's awesome! What will be next?.. maybe a snake? When I was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia I had a red tailed boa named Doug haha. I love how smart you are about reptiles and amphibians. Almost forgot.... GREAT VIDEO!!
Thank you so much😄. Maybe I will catch a snake so far.
I mean maybe I will catch a snake sometime.
@@Herpingalabama That would be cool. Like a bright green one!
I needed this. thank you!
subbed with notis! thanks for the help
Did you get your gecko yet I’m getting mines ssturday
The way he said leopard gecko 😂😂
What did you name him? Thats so cool!!! We had geckos in our house in Hawaii on the Helemano Military reservation. They would make a barking or chirping sound at night. I always got surprised when I opened a cabinet and there was a gecko hiding inside! Thanks for sharing !
I will probably name him Rocky or Roxy
Nice I have a 1 month old baby leopard gecko
😍😍😍
Awesome! Just to let u know in case the guy at petsmart didnt... ur gonna have to get a bigger tank for sure.U may need to right away because i have a feeling its too small and u wont be able to get ur cold side of the tank cool enough. And leopard geckos come from deserts they want low humidity.
Cool
the gecko probably won’t just take a lick of calcium. you should toss whatever insect you’re giving him in the powder then give it to him
No they absolutely will go lick it they lick everything
Thanks fellas!!
little dude did his research !!
Eco earth mixed with sand will do well together
Cool. I used to have two lizards that my brother gave me but they would bite me when i would do anything with them. So i got rid of them lol. Thanks for the new video
Sand is not good. And Eco Earth is the best. Great job👍
Eco earth is not the best but it is okay I give it 3 out of 5 Stars and sand it not bad it could be if you calci sand but regular sand is not bad I don't recommend it to be in the safe side but sand is actually not bad.
Any sand can impact the immune system of a leopard gecko, reptile carpet is better then eco earth and sand. It is safe and has very low impaction probability.
@@logantesta1938 Yep I agree I use reptile carpet but the thing is You have to clean it EVERY WEEK that's one thing I don't like
Lol I'm tryna play minecraft here 🤣
But yeah sand could give impaction but only if they you know have improper husbandry cause when they aren't fed the correct vitamins and more they start to find other stuff to eat like sand DONT EVER USE CALCI
SAND but yeah 😁
@@MrRod317 sand can be good if you use it right for your gecko 👍. and are you in hardcore or normal 😂
@@logantesta1938 I'm in between I'm kinda basic really but I have researched endlessly not sleeping cause I want the best for my geckos 😁
Well I can say that the kid knows his stuff he was right about all the stuff it needs and doesn’t 👍🏽
Thanks. You should check my new video out about my leopard gecko.
EA Jr, he looks like he's wearing sun glasses?? What will you name him? I really enjoyed this video. Will you keep us up to date?
I will probably name him Rocky and yes I will try to keep yall up to date!
Exploring Alabama Jr what if it’s actually a girl?
Awesome video! We have a few geckos here in Florida. They make some crazy noises. Does the leopard gecko? Or is he a quiet guy.
He is quiet and hasn't made one noise.
These wild Florida porch geckos almost make a bark'n noise.
i would suggest blacking out the sides so the stress is reduced
ITS SO TINY SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE 🥺🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
For the moss under the hide, you will need to get it damp not soaking wet, and put it on the warm side of the tank. I wouldn't recommend using the light bulbs they provided because the colored lights will, later on, affect their eyesight. Just some tips, but other than that you guy did an awesome job!!! :)
Thanks for watching!
@@Herpingalabama No problem! :)👀✔
oh shoot i didn’t know light bulbs weren’t good for them that’s currently what i have on my tank but i have a heat matt coming in on saturday he should be ok for another day i hope
Guys, the kid is right he said it would damage their skin it really would. It would make it dry up
Bro they didn’t give more stuff like the hiding spot and heat pad because they’ll have to make it more pricey 🙄
I have a couple of things to say. That is a baby gecko It needs a 10 gallon tank but when it becomes an adult a 20 gallon or bigger tank . They do not need a lot of humidity they need it for one hid to help with shedding and need at least 3 hides
Thanks for the tips and watching my videos
Makes me laugh how the dad says he's been doing research haha you guys are not one bit ready 🤣😂🤣
You should check out my new video out my leopard gecko.
That’s sick
They DO NOT want a humid a environment
Well they need it when they are shedding
@@tigerzygaming9557 Not a humid environment. They are dessert animals. They need only a moist hide for when shedding.
@@malayanay2768 That’s what I meant sorry
@@malayanay2768 they aren’t desert animals, they are arid animals. They like a drier environment, but they live in grasslands and shrublands
@@lucaso5181 Actually they are. They originated from areas in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and northwest India. In zones that are considered “semi-dessert” areas. But definitely not grasslands.
Once your leopard is grown up put him/her in a 20 gallon tank so leopard gecko can be like my little girl
He is o chill
I really don’t know if you changed the size yet but the tank needs to be 20 gallons and they also need a lot of coverage!
What you can do with that calcium you can pour a little bit with the mill worms or whatever you’re feeding them and then shake it up and that way they’re dusted with calcium
I would suggest switching the hides and I would switch the bowls and use the shallow one
By the way #exploringalabamajr
You need a thermostat for your heat mat in case it overheats
One tip don’t listen to pet smart but love the vid 😊
when I got my leopard geko I got all the same stuff
You also seem to be lacking on your vitamins, as you also need multivitamins to keep a healthy leopard gecko. Also what percentage is your UVB.
You need live bugs for it so they can eat
Please use a thermostat to regulate the temperature of the bulbs so they don’t overheat and burn the gecko
How did you get your leopard gecko on your hand because I can't get mine on my hand
You were making me laugh so hard when you said "It didn't even come with Chinese plastic.." This channel is hilarious!!!
Adorable leopard gecko, just a few recommendations I wouldn’t recommend using a blue and read light because it’s unnecessary and harmful. They really only need the uvb light and heat light (along with the heat mat)
Also the blue/red light throws off the natural day/night cycle 😅
Where do you buy the tiny lizard I’m trying to find it but Can you tell any storage
wow
I recently got me a lot lizard
I advise getting a thermostat to make sure the heat mat is the right temperature
I have one.
@@Herpingalabama ok great I realized anyway after watching your latest video sorry
It’s ok. Thanks for watching
Leopard geckos do need a basking spot
I’m getting a gecko but I did not what they need now I do
Uh wha
i also recomed a 20 gallon tanklater on no hate thank you for listening:)
I wanted to ask if the heat pad is under the tank or under the moss
Under the tank. Thanks for watching
How to order this tank kit for gecko
You should use a reptile carpet for the bottom for when they are babies .
Carpet is not a good substrate. It harbours bacteria and tends to get caught on their teeth and claws. Paper towel is good temporarily and a soil/playsand mix is best as a permanent substrate.
Hey uhh if you are reading this um you should swap out the log hide where the heating pad is because leapord geckos for some reason they like for the heat hides to have to entrances/exits and in the rock hide put moss all in it and dampen it down every day if you are reading this
Why do i see this just a few minutes after one was eating a fly on my window 😖 i like how thay look but when the move i get this feeling 😖
😄
ah yes i love layopard geckos
I Personally Dont Use A Heat Matt But I DO Have The Heat Light And My Tank On The Heated Side Is 86.5 Degrees And If He Wants Warmer He Sits On The Rock That's Really Warm.
What’s the basking spot surface temperature?
I’m thinking of getting one do you have any tips?
There’s a CZcams channel called Leopard Gecko, if you haven’t found them yet. She’s a great channel for leopard geckos and crested geckos
they do come out and bask if they need UVB
This video was from a while ago but don't use sand or eco earth use reptile carpet are paper towels bc they can digest the Coco fiber but like the sand, the Coco fiber will be good for a humid hide you can put that and moss in it
lAyO pArD gecko
I use a ceramic heat emitter for night
What do you use during the day? Ceramic heat emitters aren’t a good primary heat source since they only produce IRC, no IRA or IRB. A temperature drop at night is fine.
This is like 3 years later and I hope you have changed it but they don't need humidity you should just give them a humid hide! Maybe add some fake plants and stuff! They may not need the light but they thrive with it
You don’t necessarily need a heat lamp or any type of lamp it be good for like a lamp that could keep them warm at night but like other than that a heating pad should do just fine
I want to get a leopard gecko should I go with the same setup yo have
Yea sure it’s a great setup. Just make sure to add in a moist hide and a temperature regulator for your heat Matt
You guys should have set up the tank before getting the gecko and u need 3 hides a cool hide, warm hide and humid hide
Checkout Leopard Gecko the channel. Shes Highly knowledgeable and is my go too. Congrats & Good Luck guys.
Idk why but the petco I work at these guys go for like $40? Does anyone know why?
Thanks for the vid also don’t use the stick on thermometer it just reads the air temp not the spot we’re he is staying.
is the heat pad under the encloser? Thx for ur advice to :)
Yes it is. Your welcome!
Heat mats aren’t a good heat source. A halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer/dimming thermostat is the most natural and beneficial option, Arcadia’s deep heat projector is the second best option. They produce IRA and IRB like the sun, heat that penetrates deep into the skin tissue and heats them far more effectively than heat mats. Whereas heat mats only produce IRC, which only heats the surface of their skin.
my gecko is the exact same and i have the same cage
Awesome
What I mean is happy and healthy
Sick set up
I bought one from petsmart, but the carboard on top was covering a crack in the glass i found later ☠️
Try to give him a friend
It might be to late but do not use any sand even eco earth I use reptile carpet it works good with my gecko his name is mango 🥭
Carpet is not a good substrate. It harbours bacteria, tends to get caught on their teeth and claws, and doesn’t offer any digging enrichment. A suitable loose substrate such as a soil/playsand or soil/sand/clay mix is best.
You don’t need lamps, them lights, moss and that thermometer is not good and you can’t have the mat on their own you NEED a thermostat! To keep it at the right termperature! And you need more than calcium it is also bad for them to have too much of it! Never support petco and just mealworms is a very unhealthy diet!!! I’ve almost reached four years of researching I’m proud that you researched first but not enough
Thanks for the advice
Lamps are one of the best really I have a vid to show
You don't need a thermostat you just use it and that you don't need more than calcium only d3 that comes with d3 but it's better separate 😁
Edit: Petco don't only have mealworms so yeah they have calci worms and calci worms are *SOOO* healthy, and crickets are very healthy to
Did you say you don't need moss?
Cause it is one of the best 😁😁
And the thermometer is not good uhh sure let's agree 😁🤣😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
