Put fish tanks on there sides. I had to put screen door repair tape on the top so crickets couldn't get out. It seems with baby leopards, mine at least, get scared when they hear the fake plants move.

Leopard geckos are not for kids to get it if they can be too rough it could cause a leopard gecko to drop their tail

In the future practice patience and educate yourself or those around you BEFORE getting the animals, before you could have easily killed it within the month if all you understand is that it needed water and bugs.
Safe rule of thumb is don't get an animal with a lifespan of more than a mouse if you aren't willing to adapt to it or the commitments because that's cruel.
Please! Do not impulsively buy animals! If you do not know how to properly care for it, and have not done extensive research, you could be missing important parts of their care! Please be careful.

it depends on the general temp, so in the summer id probably put it to come on for abour 7am and go off at 10pm. in winter i do it at about 6am til 11pm :)@anthony

I've had my new leopard gecko for about a week now and my thermostat came in the post last night. As soon as I set it up and the heat mat cooled down to the perfect temp, she went straight to her warm hide and passed out. Your videos have been SO helpful in getting my new gecko settled in. Thanks!

Leopard geckos will sometimes eat sand get paper towels or Eco earth or reptile carpet is the best
BloodyFirstMongoyl Leopard geckos will eat the sand and get something called impaction which requires surgery if caught on time because the geckos can't pass the sand.
For a dig box you should use flaxseed, alfalfa pellets, or dried veggies.

@LeopardGecko I'm pretty sure you can change temp with it because a buddy of mine has a heat mat for his corn snake and he uses lamp dimmers to control the heat. He's no professional though, so he might just be an idiot XD.

That's very true! You can also use aquarium lighting if you must (quite a few come with controllers to change colour of the light etc). Doesn't give off much heat, if any, and so long as you can check the temp of your viv and have a thermostat you can lower the temp of your mat if the light causes it to rise much. Just be sure to turn the lights off when it gets dark outside.
I have a question, my family recently got a 5-7 year old leopard gecko and it has some odd behaviors? He walks around the tank with his eyes closed and hates being held... Our neighbor (the person we got him from) said that he has always been like this.. Should i be worried?

nope. heat mats are perfect since leos take their heat in through their bellies.

I don't get it a breeder on you tube keeps his leopard geckos in a good sized droit with a box and a hole for the gecko to climb out and he said there no need to use the lights to heat the gecko
So do we need a light or heater type thing at all or can I keep the gecko to room tempeture

I use natural stone tiles on the floor, as they are really hygienic and do give off heat they collect during the day at nicght, also no heater but therfore a spotlight that heats the terrarium up to 34°C in one spot. Another tihing I did is building a backside with caves and platforms to climb, out of styrofoam and tile glue, works great! But as long as they have places to hide and are kept warm, they will be fine, the extra effort was more to make it visually pleasing to my eye!

I prefer doing it as close to nature as possible.

Even though I am nit interested in leopard gecko vids I know that they need 2 hides, a heating mat, and crickets and calcium and vitamin powder, correct? Now I know about both of those reptiles! I have two 10 gallon fish tanks next to each other with one Leo in each. I use bulbs for the heat but would like to use mats as well. my tanks are on the same wooden aquarium stand and I'm afraid of the mats burning the stand. Would the mats be a fire hazard?

Do I need heat pad humid/dry hide, I don't have any of that and they seem normal for past 3-4 years
What time period should you set the heat mat to go off if you are using a timer?
@anthony no you dont want it on the whole time, it will be far too hot and they need a natural drop in temp. a timer is really cheap, literally only a few dollars.
so i work nights and my room doesnt get much if any natural light i have two lamps and a heating pad id like his schedule to somewhat match mine i have timers and stuff but i also live in a cold state in the united states till i can buy a timer that keeps temperature im not really sure of what to do
Say LGT, I was wondering about the moist hides.
My female loves her moist hide, shes in there for most of the time.
It is however on the warm side (so the moist can vaporize as a sauna idea), here you put the moist hide on the cold side.
I am a bit confused on where to put it now. I hope you could give me some advice on where to put it.

Hey, just letting you know you may not want to use Eco Earth unless its really dry because if they have to much humidity in their tank it can give them respiratory problems.

Ok my friend just gave me his gecko today because he couldn't move it with him. The aquarium has calisand and I want to change that due to all the videos I've been watching telling me to not use it. The only problem is I don't think it is tamed at all, afraid to pick it up right now, and don't know where to put it whilst I'm changing and cleaning the aquarium. What do I do?
