In this video the SPIKES PROTOCOL has been used to structure breaking of bad news to the husband and family members. The SPIKES PROTOCOL helps the Doctor or Nurse to follow a step by approach to gaining the trust and understanding of the husband and the family for understanding and accepting the tragic news. This is a participatory method of interaction and the Doctor can get cues from the family about where to start the information giving and in which format. Doctors and Nurses should also document the information and the names of the persons with whom the information has been shared.
