      Before or after packing the muffler bearings?

    • @jamesmonahan1819
      @jamesmonahan1819 Před 7 lety +35

      Tom M My uncle said always run the muffler bearings dry. the stuff you pack in there just attracts dirt. He was a real mechanic he could change the engine in his Monte Carlo in 5 minutes with a screwdriver and a pair of vice grips and no hoist.
      He used to have every tool that snap on made but he stamped them all with his name and it caused micro fractures to form and they all broke, and snap on wouldn't give him new ones because he put his name on them.
      Once he got a flat left front tire and he didn't have a jack, so he put on the parking brake, put it in drive, and threw a brick in the gas peddle, and the torque lifted up the left front tire so he could change it, with his screwdriver and Vice Grips. He said if it would have been a back tire he would have used reverse.

      Here's how life works when your in the hood. A branded and stickered work truck comes in for repair, the truck has nothing in the cab so it is left unlocked but has cars parked behind it to block it in. Thieves bust out the window of the unlocked truck, fuck the dash trim up to steal the factory radio that had nothing special going on. The owner used to chase and fire his gun off at people like that when he caught them, but times have changed and #blacklifesmatter

      It's that Citroen doesn't have much value when you buy it. BMW does, and nobody wants to buy a used one, because when you have a BMW (meaning a real car, not SUV), you're a lot more likely to go rough with the car, meaning the second owner might have to pay for all your repairs, and nobody wants to risk it.

      If you are worried about rust, just use some gun blue and then wax on them. Should hold up in small areas and reasonable conditions. You can also etch stainless, but it normally is done with a stronger acid.
