This is interesting and was hoping you could help clear some confusion I had when uploading a recent release and using CZcams Content ID. I'm being asked 'what percentage of the song composition do I own'. This confused me because I was under the impression that the royalties paid out by Distrokid were only from the Master Recording (which I own all of), however I do not own all of the composition for this song.
Would you potentially be able to clarify if the CZcams Content ID royalty that Distrokid pays out is a royalty from the Master Recording or the Composition of the music? Any additional information is appreciated as well.

Great video! I had a question tho. If one of my songs from a few years ago has been featured in many youtube videos but I am barely going to upload it to distrokid and use the CZcams Money Content ID feature now, will I get monetized for all the historical ads/plays of those videos or will it only be the ads/plays going forward?

I was wondering, if you release and album and want to pay $49 extra for the "leave a legacy" option, will you have to pay $4.95 for each song on the album or only $4.95 for the album as a release? Also, the additional payment for content id on youtube has to go every year even if you selected "leave a legacy"? or when you're paying the $49 dollars, they add $4.95 one last time? I really hope you have an answer on how that specific scenario would work :) appreciate your content sm!

I signed up for Content ID & recently had my song uploaded by a lyrics channel with 12mill views,
and while others who used my song in their youtube video got hit by my copyright almost instantly,
this specific lyrics channel has not been. How do i solve this & will i get paid for the views it has accumulated once its hit by a copyright?
You can specifically request for some videos to be flagged I believe. And unfortunately you don't get any money for plays retroactively - it's only moving forward

Distrokid never answers me, so I hope you do, 1- I uploaded my song to distro kid, but it's never shown in CZcams content ID in the description section on my youtube channel. 2- there are no ads shows on my video that I already paid the 5$ for CZcams content ID on distro kid. Please help me.
The DistroKid CZcams option is 100% not worth it - it could be that your channel is automatically whitelisted, tough to say though. It might also take some time. Also - have you used ANY samples, loops, etc from royalty free libraries like Splice Sounds?

wonder what happens if you pay for that add-on and then leave Distrokid (with a legacy fee)? would you lost the content ID on youtube? I guess it is per year, right? unless you get it back with another distributor. Having said that, does it mean that if you don't use that extra when releasing with Distrokid, then you cannot even monetize your own music video? (whether it is a real music clip or a compilation of slides / video footage like nature etc. or a lyrics video for songs with lyrics. or just putting an image + audio.

if you chose to have the Content ID in every songs, you have to pay by force.
If I have distrokid musican plus plan and For my first release it’s a collab between me and my friend how would we both get our separate artist accounts for CZcams ? I know you get it for the other platforms but what if you already have a CZcams account made ? How would me and my friend use our own accounts and not have distrokid make us one ?
do you need to actually have your song copyrighted officially or anything before uploading to DistroKid and having it put in the content ID system? Or can I simply record my song, and straight away upload it to the website and I'm good to go with all royalties (minus the 20% they take) given to me whenever someone uses my song in their videos? thanks!
You don't need it copyrighted - you can just upload it right after recording
you automatically own the copyright as soon as you create something original, but having it officially registered is very handy or even necessary if you need to sue anyone
How do I cancel that after uploading the song.

It's when other people use your music in their videos - which is why it's not worth it (just being honest)

They get 20% from the videos that are determined to have your song in them. In my opinion it isn't worth it, unless you're a big artist or your songs are used everywhere on CZcams

Will you get paid if your song gets used on CZcams channels that aren't monetized? Like they don't have the subscriber count so their channel isn't monetized, so technically they're not getting revenue.

@@gordy12gg no I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. There’s no revenue generated on a CZcams channel that hasn’t been monetized. If they get partnered with CZcams, there will be ads that generate revenue and you will get a share of the ad revenue if your song is used and in the CZcams content ID database.
Yes you will. They dont have to be a CZcams partner (be monetized) If content ID detects it, you will have the option to place ads on the video that is using your music.

yes, but they make it really hard for ordinary people / small channels....the system is very biased towards big companies and record labels.
I have a new song I made and spent a loooot of time on it. I want to upload it, but I don't know if I should check the content id box. I'm very unpopular so I think it would be easy for anyone to steal my music, so I think I should consider if. Protect the little guy. I need someone to tell me what to do :(

If I do not exclusively own the beat, but have a license agreement to use the beat, i recorded my own lyrics, can I still get paid for the song under CZcams’s Content ID???

you need to read the license agreement, it may state that you can't register for content ID

You can whitelist your channels so that way you retain your revenue
I just recently released a song and I paid for the content I'd... multiple channels including mine uploaded the song on CZcams...and I haven't seen none of them being claimed as yet...is there's a solution for this?

This is so stupid man. They should be matching nearly 100% of a song. Not samples. Have they ever heard of a legal derivative? A song with a splice sample is 100% legit. And so can a song remixed from an entire stem, tracklib. If you owe tracklib artists 80%, you want the other 20. Urge Google to make their own copyright for this, and to protect all works, including all derivatives, and to charge a flat rate per song, say $3. Even if it was just Adsense protection, and nowhere else.
