I have a TRK 502 and would like to reduce the rpm's. I mainly drive urban. Someone suggested changing to 14/44 on the non X version as with the 15/42 on the non X version, you will really struggle to get under away. The 15/42 is only suitable on the X version IF you don't load your bike up with a fully set of panniers, top box and a pillion. Which sprockets would you recommend? Thanks

Hi, thanks for the video, what are the torque settings for the rear wheel ?

Thanks for checking out the channel. To be honest I don't bother tourqing the rear wheel, I just make sure it's tight by previous experience. I'm sure if you look on line, you will be able to find the correct setting if it is something which bothers you. Ride safe 👍

mark is that your first chain change, also the front sprocket tab washer , were can i get one . may i ask for all the part numbers you used , ie 15t sprocket , rear sprocker and chain , great video mate , bang on , cheers

Hi thanks for checking out the review. Yes it's the first chain change for the bike.
      Part numbers are
Chain D.I.D manufacturers part number 797.02.84
PBR 44T Rear sprocket part number 4730_44_C45BENELLITRK502X5002018
I'm not sure of the part number for the 15t front sprocket but there is a guy on the trk uk Facebook page who sells them or you can get them from a company on line called cosmos. You will be fine reusing the original tab washer. No need to buy a new one for the first couple of changes.

Is the TRK 502 reliable and are parts easily available? Would you recommend the X version? And which sprocket would you recommend on the 502 and 502X for urban riding and occasionally highway riding? Thanks

Thanks for checking out the review. My bike has been very reliable. Parts are not as easily available as the big name brands where you can just walk into a dealership and get them off the shelf, however a quick search on ebay or the Internet will usually get you what you need. As I have only ever owned an x version I can only comment with accuracy for that model regarding the sprocket. I would definitely upgrade the front sprocket to 15T. I have test ridden the none x version, and it is geared differently to the x as standard, so I can't really comment on what would be best for that bike. If you take a look on my channel, I have an in-depth review titled TRK the truth where I cover all questions in detail. I also have a video where I change out the front sprocket to 15T and show the real world difference in the revs and performance. Ride safe 👍

Replacing my set now...what torque did you use for the rear sprocket?

  • @JimmyCall

That smaller sprocket taken off seems to be eaten away pretty badly. Maybe that was caused by not having the the washers behind?

    • @BikeRiderReviews

Hi thanks for checking out the review. The smaller sprocket in this video was the original 14t sprocket fitted by the factory which had the washers behind. This was the original factory sprocket which you can see me remove in a previous video where I swap it out for a 15t sprocket upgrade. I saved it and had it sitting on the shelf as i recieved a request asking me if I could make the comparison between the factory fitted 14t and the replacement 15t. I hope that makes sense. The sprocket I removed from the bike in this video is the one without the washers behind had 0 wear, so I'm not really concerned about the missing washers. Ride safe 👍
