As a new player this was incredible to watch. So much amazing information, the play-by-play commentary was so useful! I really appreciate both the in-game commentary to know what you're thinking moment-to-moment and also the after-game webcam footage to analyze mistakes. Please, please do more of these, for new players this was absolutely amazing!
You can't stop everything... but it doesn't stop me from getting frustrated when I get burned on my own mistake.
I'm d and every time someone pass me or we loose goal when I'm on shift I'm getting really upset with myself which is bad for my mental attitude.
As a D I love it when forwards decide to play D 😑 D don't pull rank and say I'll play up front. Forwards playing D then play D like a forward playing D. Try to go end to end, get caught too deep in the offensive end and mess it up in their own end. Nice passes out of the zone but the D let the other team get behind you a few times. Head on a swivel playing D means you can see everybody, count them and look behind. Watch the gate for cheeky player changes. Too many 2 on 1s.Good D to D passes 👍 Stay up front and do what you do best and leave the D to the specialists. 😉
I like the post game commentary. Defense looked good. Would love to see a future video where you maybe talk about what you do on offense off the puck? Like where you move and where you are looking to get open? I feel like I always bunch up and don't end up in good space
Hey, I'm not a pro by any means but to avoid bunching up try to just look around and find open space and find open passing lanes it will work miracles
Nice game! I liked the transition from one person's camera to the other when passing the puck. Might be nice to have a picture of the person who's camera is being viewed like some of the old videos though!
You guys did great. You guys did well keeping the puck in the offensive zone!!
I like when you talk while watching the gameplay. It shows us how you think while you play. Can we see more of that?
Hayden has one hell of a vision for real haha
good play overall boys
Love this format! The commentary makes it really entertaining
Played defense all but one year of 4 years when I was younger, y'all did better than I 😂
Next game Hayden has to use your righty stick and you have to use his lefty stick. Love these videos.
I'm realizing I need to stop watching videos online. The rink I play at here in Kentucky doesn't use the blade or hot water...because of wanting to "Save money". The ice is so damn rough, and every time I watch a video online I'm just incredibly jealous of everyone playing on smooth ice.
Great video, Jeremy! I finally got back to playing after years off from Covid, and I've been mostly getting slotted at C and LW, but I'm looking to hopefully move back to D soon. I figure if I'm not going to score any goals as a forward, I may as well play back where I like to be and hopefully keep others from enjoying scoring goals too.
I am glad to see I'm not the only person who goes "Sorry!" after blasting someone because I can't aim for the net...
That was funny and was that Phil Kessel who got that first jersey? LOL A good perspective of how hard playing D really is and how different it is to playing forward. Good sticks and lots of hustle on the ice kept you guys from letting too many pucks in.
Thank you so much, Jeremy! I’ve learned so much about hockey from your videos. Keep putting them out man!
We love you coach Jermey
Yo let's go can't wait to watch this one!
Ay you did great out there good luck!
As a very strong d man against drop passes if you can see it before it happens you just skate back fast enough to block the pass going to high slot or the guy who picked up the drop.
I love your videos I started my season and already got 7 goals
Good job 😀 What position do you play?
@@TentacleSoak left wing
@@burb3559 nice 👍🏼
I love this
I love your vids I just want that to be more consistent and upload more.
Me too!!
I’m have a heart condition so it’s can’t play hockey I can skate but can’t play hockey as of right know I like watching your videos what hockey pov is like
Welcome to the brotherhood boys! Gotta block those passes tho :) Fun video, thanks for posting.
I play defense for travel hockey and to play a drop pass if you have your partner rush because you got backup if not then close them to the boards.
What site did you get your custom jerseys on. They are so sick
Love the jerseys and really good on defence
Dylan already knows
Not bad on how you did. In regards to drop pass, if you can caught it, that's great, but you should stick to your player, because next thing that will go is pass back to that player you left behind alone in front of the net.
And in regards to 2on1 play you take away pass, but never by standing between those 2 players but actually taking out the other player so that you'll make it 1 against the goalie and all you try is to not allow the player and puck to go from one side to the other side so that goalie needs to cover only one side and don't need to cover cross play. And then you just wait for help and try to poke the puck and prevent the goal.
9:08 once the guy hits just below the bottom of the circle you should talk the open man so the goalie can take make the save the on the player with the puck.
Hi
9:08 you played it pretty well. It is hard to defend that. The only thing I can recommend is to maybe crouch down a little, that will help prevent the saucer pass.
Oh I should have mentioned. I had my knee down, leg back as well to take away as much of the lane as possible. But he just went and sauced it over my stick.
@@CoachJeremy Yeah that is just tough to defend. It was a great pass on his part.
Should you put like a tarp over your Rink so that you got glass like ice
Defense look good. Had the right idea about getting the sticks in there. As to not get “burnt” like Jeremy said keep the speed. Lol. Nice job, I like d better cause I can see the game and I like making the sweet pass!! Going end to end is fun too.
hey bro what kind of gopro you using on your helmet?
What level men's league would this be? High C or low B type??
Coach Jeremy you should go to Moosonee Ontario it’s near Cochran Take a train 🚆
Hey I’m Ty from Minnesota. I want to travel the world, where are some places I can join pickup hockey?
Jakarta
Thailand
Europe
Australia
I’m that two on one….usually the goalie wants you to play the person without the puck rather than shooter but just have to communicate with goalie
If on a 2 on 1 and you take away pass like @9:09 then as a defenseman you've done your job. a 2ft sauce pass going over you if you lay down.
Do you still play in Huntsville I live like 25 minutes away
You guys seem generally like better skaters than the rest, but better on offence then defence.
Try to have a better gap so you can poke a little easier and stay with him and him not burn by you
Best youtuber please reply I love your drip
❤ you are the best jermey
Good
I have a good one, only passes you can do are drop passes and only shots are one timers
ive been playing defence my whole life and you played for your first time and you were better than me🤣
its probably because your a lot older than me and a lot better than me
I’m aiming for the hockey academy where I live and from what I heard they’re looking for defensemen but this at least helps me know what I should be doing just in case I do get in
Next game can you use each other's sticks?
That will be so painful
D is tough. you do a good job and it's quiet and expected. You make a mistake and there's a red light that goes on to let everyone know.
Hey coach Jeremy If you read this I would be so happy, you are my idol and I listen to all your tips. You helped me not shoot muffins and You are super good at hockey. This will be my second year playing hockey if you make another video I will hopefully be the first person to watch and add a comment. My name is Rowan.Gilmore and I am number 29. Go watermelons!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁👍👍👍👍👍👍
I am on my dads icon that is why it says sean.
If you could do videos with subscribers playing hockey with you that would be awesome.
Thanks Rowan, keep on training and having fun!
Also go back immediately!!?😊
What's up with the no snapshot rule?
is this ice in Edmonton?
I love your videos 🏒🏆
my keys to D....hold the blue line...... don't reach with your body only your hands..... force the guy to the outside...... if you screen the goalie-you better make the save....... don't wait for trouble and use your help on passes....talk to your guys......when in doubt, dump it out......final thought, all forwards should learn how to play defense then they would learn to see the whole ice and be better players and they might learn how to skate backwards...LOL
On the two on one take the guy that doesn’t have the puck to make it a one on one with your goalie and the guy with the puck
What curve dus haden use
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lemme play on your team, speedy left winger from Long Island
I play defense so this is easy against drop passes on de you step up instantly than if you get burnt skate to the front of the net as fast as you can
Not to insult you but you seem better at defence. Haden got the magic hands that you need for forward and he puts up numbers. ;)
Can Mason play goalie with goalie equipment
once you guys learned the other teams go-to moves, you had them down pretty well....goalies are always the last line of defense so you can only do so much (that's what my goalie told me a long time ago)...A ref more games together and you will be tough....long reach, good ice awareness and great out passes to forwards
When I was playing hockey for the the frist time I play defence
do a michagan in a real game please i want to see it
be careful of screening your own goalie now. good job coach
If shooting, only backhand shots.
I play defense and everyone when I make a mistake or get burned, they alway say, you had one easy job. They just don’t get because they don’t play defense. Defense I tell you is hard. You have to watch all 5 opponents. You also don’t score much and you usually make the plays. It’s a hard job to be defense.
Same, I get blamed so much even if our goalie doesn't even try my team is like "you have to step up on that its all your fault"
@@TentacleSoak I feel you. I played on a team once that had an awful goalie that was not able to catch cheap goals. and then the coach would be like hit him hit him. and I'm just thinking in my head, that guy is skating like 60mph down center ice. he is about the same weight as me, I am going maybe 20, ( these are just example mph. I have no idea how fast) so he has 40mph on me. I will get my a#$ rocked by that dude and he will probably score anyway and I want to finish the game so why get murdered.
@@marcoharvan683 exactly. last season our goalie was super weak to wrap around so my coach expected me to hit someone every time they wrapped, well that didn't go to well when someone 20+ pounds heavier and 5 inches taller then me (i'm relatively short for my age) reverse hits me and i'm out because a mild concussion for 3 weeks. Some people expect the most out of defense even when its a 2 on 5 because the rest of your team cant back check.
@@TentacleSoak so true
Take the body😤
Play with a 55 flex
I really hope I can see you or just call you
That forced offside bud 🤌🏼
Why can’t you slap shot in this league? Most of the guys are wearing full face shields/cage
damn how many guys did you have on the bench you mustve been tired
Any Ex pros in league? My beer league looks ways more competitive!
No slappers??
pretty good better than me
When your on d step up to the shot
I play defense
Had some money left in the budget. Claims bankruptcy 11 months later lmao
Lololol I just finished practice
First
to much pinching
Finally a pov of defense!!
As someone learning how to play defence for the first time this video was invaluable. The POV shots in actual games is really useful for spotting positioning and how to win those battles. Thanks for this and please do more!
