Leonard is right, the "Never Have I Ever" game is really dangerous.

Anything while a woman is drinking alcohol is dangerous.

Penny would waste of money on shoes because Penny is a moron
*"I can't believe Penny hasn't."* 🤣🤣🤣
I’m sure she has. The writers are just stupid. I mean, why are they surprised; Sheldon in the show has been arrested and they knew at LEAST three times (The judge arrested him, Stan Lee called the cops, and in the movie theater, once they were caught, I’m sure they were reported and arrested ALL four of the guys 🤦♂️).
Penny's money habits are exactly why i think Leonard is right. She overspends and mooched off Leonard for years before they got married. Planning for the worst is the right move
Not to mention all the food she ate from the guys before she got a real job
The thing is, he shouldnt have done it in secret. If he would have had that talk before, that he wants to keep a certain amount of his income for himself (which is fair in my book), Penny would have had the choice to do the same. At the end of the day it comes down to trust.
He could've said it up front. " I'm going to have an emergency savings account that nobody's gonna touch , you should do the same instead of overspending . " . It's about the communication. That aside , your point still stands .
@@subratanandy2142but to be very fair to Leonard, Penny is shameless in spending the guys’ money. And Sheldon and Leonard let her use the WiFi, eat all the food and have his money. And with Penny not paying off her debt even after she earns twice as much. In real life, Leonard would earn 100k or upward and penny would earn 200k. When she gets things paid for and constantly being helped by two guys, she should have been debt free for quite a long time.
Therefore, if Leonard just told her, he would have had his money depleted very quickly.
@@jorgegaray7614she had a real job with potentially better pay, she was just a lousy waitress
Her making more money doesn't make her better with money. Kind of a strange immediate response.
And her more money is new.
Totally on Leonard's side here, and you know he's right because the moment Penny found out about the secret account she immediately is angry because she wants to spend it. I had an ex that did that with me once, I made the mistake of telling him I had a few thousand dollars saved in my bank account, and he immediately turned around and starting telling me about all the stuff I could buy, either for myself or for him. Yes, it is wrong of Leonard to keep money secret in a marriage, but its also wrong of Penny to strongarm him into immediately spending all of his money via pressure.
That being said, at least it was shown a big part of why Penny is like this is because she's working a job she hates, unable to work to her 'dream job' that she's unsuccessful at, and can't enjoy any financial freedom because of her debt.
The mistake wasn't telling him about your money, it was dating a piece of crap like that in the first place. There's plenty of awesome guys who you could've dated and told about the money and they'd be super supportive and proud of you.
Plus its smart he has savings account

Best Penny/Leonard interaction on the show 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The fact they're married makes it look bad, but Penny, for years, relied on Leonard covering her expenses and that would make me nervous too. She would spend on things she didn't need instead of her rent, etc. even when she had a menial job.
“Did I win? I feel like I won” 🤣💀
I know the show has the audience convinced that Leonard was lucky to get a girl like Penny but realistically it was the other way around. Even Penny's father knew how lucky she was to land a guy like Leonard, he had a stable job and loved Penny unconditionally and in spite of all the crap and turmoil Leonard had to go through to win her over, Penny still took him for granted. I think we can all agree that Leonard is the kind of partner most of us if not all wish we had in our lives.
Well, it's kind of based on the fact the Leonard is not an attractive man at all where as penny is. But he's great otherwise.
Mostly, he would be the perfekt man If he wasn't so scared and cowardly. I mean, why does he feel bad when he is absolutely right?
Penny always took Leonard for granted
True dat! Leonard could have done so much better if he wasn’t such a simp for her.
I don't necessarily ship them but at least Penny didn't cheat on Leonard while Leonard (negligently not intentionally iirc) cheated on Penny?
Can I recommend something that FIXES the problem that Penny was in the last four seasons that I believe you’ll LOVE?
Yes, please.

When Sheldon had admitted to getting arrested, I totally thought that Sheldon ending up in jail after talking back to a judge was gonna be brought up
I'm a scientist. I don't apologize..
Jailer, I want to see the JUDGE.
IS Penny's credit card debt shared in some way with Leonard? Either way he is perfectly justified in keeping a tertiary savings account to mitigate against the very real possibility that Penny ends up putting both of them in a financial jam with her demonstrably bad money management.
Because it was accumulated before the union no one could go after him for the money, but it's definitely something you would have discussed before getting married because when you get married money is combined and bills are combined. Sounds like they arranged that she must work to pay the debt off or her attitude at the end would have been different if they hadn't discussed that earlier in the marriage.
@@anniewallace3601 question: when you say money is combine what do you mean ? is it because americans literally combine bank accounts ? I never understood why a married couple would do that....
@@kevinwaag9976 yes when you get married a lot of people choose to combine accounts. My husband and I both have our names on it and we agreed it is our money. We discuss how it should be used and this is something we agreed to do before we got married. Some people choose to have a account in one name and a account in another and then they discuss who's paying for what. It just depends what works best for the couple and what they agreed works best for them. My husband and I agreed it would be simpler to just have a account with both of our names so all the charges are viewable in one place.
@kevinwaag9976 some couples combine their money together and pay bills, etc from that account. But most if the people I know each spouse has a account and then they have a joint account that expenses come out of.
@@kevinwaag9976 I'm 76, never understood why a married couple wouldn't. Otherwise it's a "mine vs yours" arrangement not a marriage. What if wife dosen't / can't work or husband loses job?
But then we did start out with very meager finances (me a Marine PFC - her a just graduated beautician). During our 50+ years of marriage (social attitudes were very different then) each of us at times carried the burden of sustaining our lifestyle. No crushing credit card debit helped = responsible spending.
Hint - budget for minimal spending until have at least a 1 year cushion (not 1 week) for necessities. Again having a non-instant gratification attitude helped.
Our attitudes regarding money we developed are why we retied with a guaranteed after tax income equal to upper middle class, while never having to do without anything we needed or wanted (eventually). Except $7 cups of coffee every morning, $1,400 smart phones, or $500 gym shoes to impress others, of course.
I wonder how many today truly understand the "ant and grasshopper".
0:44 Sheldon’s reaction 🤣
If Leonard has a saving of $6000 and penny is upset about why they are not spending it, it is really really concerning. You should have multiple months of expense in saving atleast. In case you lose your job, in case of a medical emergency. Also how do they both live the same lifestyle as before, have leonard workinig in caltech and penny making more than him and not have any saving. How does penny has credit card debt. I guess I am trying to nit pick a show but still
No you're right, and this episode I think acted as more of a close hitting satire than a lot of the others, because this is easily the most common point of contention between married couples. Just goes to show how important it is to be discerning about who you choose to bind yourself to.
Because Penny never really learned how to be financially responsible, so just as how she would spend tons of money on clothing and shoes and be late on her rent when she worked at the Cheesecake Factory.
Once she started working as a sales rep, she now had more money to spend
It’s weird because Penny has someone who helps her with investments
Looking back I see that Penny treated Leonard worse as time progressed. She's quite emotional and do not understand why Leonard does what he does. She needs to take accountability, but when confronted she storms off and acts like a toddler for hours. Even if she knows that he is generally more wise than she is. Yes, he likes his games and all, but he is responsible. He saved more than 6 grand, after all. He messes up from time to time, but not here. Besides, he works for that money.
The last four seasons are GARBAGE, because Chuck Lorre is a lazy idiot that integrated TAAHM humor into the last four seasons.
Can I recommend something that fixes what he ruined?
Uh, just so you know, this isn't real 🤣
@@Chris-wq3pe Dude, that’s not the point. He’s simply pointing out how bad the show’s writing became after season eight and how the writers AND actors had given up on the show/characters.
Kaley especially had not only given up, but had become mediocre, as well, since 2015.
@@BenE8844 You're saying there was a point ?
Fascinating.
So... you think the OP is offering a by-proxy analysis of the quality of character writing, or lack of it, by doing a short study of how characters treat and react to each other in this snippet, then saying he is offering an critique on the degradation of The Big Bang Theory, but also you timestamp when Kaley 'gave up' ? So you think despite her $1M p/episode salary, she simply wasn't trying ?
I think you might be projecting just a lil' bit.
Dude.
@@Chris-wq3pe Dude, her acting just… wasn’t good anymore. Also like you said, she was making a lot of money, and simply wasn’t trying. I’ve disliked her ever since for allowing Penny to degrade and become a combination of Bernadette and Beverly. Kaley fails to convince ANYONE in ANYTHING that her characters actually respect/care/love whoever they are with, and it’s honestly a reflection of how bad of a partner she is. I give Tom til the end of next year before he breaks it off with her. I feel bad for Matilda.
Maybe it's just me, but the "used Sheldon toothbrush" bit would've been hilarious if Amy also took a drink.
Still can't believe Penny was never arrested.
Most people think like Penny if you have money spend it truth is if you don't have money saved for an emergency well you can always use your charge card and be broke your whole life.
“Did I win? Because I felt like I won.” Nope, Sheldon. Wrong again! Hahahaha!

Sheldon and Penny have great banter here, again! Their relationship was the best out of all on this show! ❤
lol, they literally didn’t say a word directly to each other in this entire clip
@@Lilc97Jax Doesn't matter. the smiles, the gestures towards each other here, how relaxed they are around each other (compare that to the start of their relationship& see how much they developed), and Sheldon speaking about Penny with a tease 'I can't believe Penny hasn't' - these are all signs of how great Penny and Sheldon's relationship is.
@@CatoNumbla does matter. You didn’t say “great chemistry” or “great relationship.” You said “banter,” meaning talking back and forth/conversing, which is what my comment stated.
I agree that they have a fantastic chemistry/relationship that grew over the seasons. But that doesn’t mean my comment was invalid.
This is so wholesome yet toxic at the same time
And of course Penny plays the victim again
and of course Lenard is sympathised for LYING
“I have money I love but never spend.” 😂
Me too
I don't know what's worse... Leonard's secret bank account, or Penny cleaning the sink with Sheldon's toothbrush.
The toothbrush by far. Everyone should have a private (secret if necessary) bank account.
The toothbrush. Using it is beyond the pale and will not be tolerated!
Neither, I think Leonard’s little “Alvin and the chipmunks” bit was brutal to bring up.
Why do couples have to share all the money with each other? That makes no sense. If you worked hard for the money, thats your money.
There are some significant purchases that it's better to have a joint account than not having one.
@@oliverdeeleyA couple only needs three, maybe four at most anyway. One each that their wages or some form of income goes into. A joint one for the household - like bills etc. and a joint one for savings.
Tell that to the divorce lawyers.
They don’t, but that kind of thing should be discussed beforehand. It’s also a bit of a trust issue, but it depends on the relationship.
She’s clearly upset he lied and insulted her, but she got over it quick.
It’s never even established, but I’m pretty sure that like Howard and Bernadette, they most likely have a prenup; why WOULDN’T they? It’s very logical, therefore, Penny shouldn’t be surprised or upset, so there’s only one explanation:
The writers are idiots, like Chuck Lorre.
Why is Leonard surprised that Sheldon was arrested? Doesn't he remember when Sheldon went to jail?
Three times! The writers are idiots!
The writers forgot.
Maybe it was just Galecki who forgot
@@kasajizo8963 What? Dude, they were all surprised. Also, I’m pretty sure Penny has been arrested; the stupid writers just don’t know how to write anything.
Like, remember when Leonard said:
“Never have I ever made love in a forest?”
And she said “Guess I better drink.
I’m pretty sure she’s had sex in a forest, but not made love. They just wanted to throw in a “in poor taste joke”, and write a joke that makes her a slut. 🤦♂️. Stupid Chuck Lorre.
I’m honestly really disappointed in how this show turned out in the last four seasons. 🤦♂️. Can I recommend something that I believe you’ll LOVE, that fixes their relationship?
@@amead78 Cause they’re idiots, alongside Chuck Lorre.
Yes Leonard. When you marry someone, their debt legally becomes your debt too. People are not conscious enough of the legal and financial obligations of getting married. It is a legal process, not just an expensive one day party.

That expression of Joy 🤣🤣
Penny: Never Have I ever think the roommate of my boyfriends is better than my boyfriend
So hang on. According to penny this was a line drawn, but penny selling his stuff away that he bought with HIS money was played up for teehee laughs? God they're such a toxic couple.
Dude, they’re only toxic, because the idiot writers stopped trying with this show. To be honest, NONE of the couples were well written.
In my personal opinion, the show was better without Amy, Bernadette was okay at first, but became a bitch, and Penny also became a taller less smart version of Bernadette, and both of them treat their spouses like SHIT.
The problem, is that Chuck Lorre seems to think that comedy is pairing seemingly pathetic men with hot women.
Have you seen TAAHM? Leonard and Penny are essentially a younger version of Alan and Lyndsey, and that’s why I hate what was done to their characters. The last four seasons are GARBAGE, and it would’ve been better if they had ended the show after eight or seven seasons.
PS: The actors gave up as well, in particular Kaley. She has been mediocre ever since season nine of this show, to RIGHT NOW. She is INCAPABLE of convincing anyone that her characters actually care/respect/love whoever they’re with (Penny, Gretchen, Cassie, Ava). In her new upcoming film, she isn’t gonna fool anyone that she loves David’s character, that she is a good wife/partner/mother. She is THAT mediocre. I don’t blame Hollywood for dropping her.

Penny is right to be veeery angry at the hidden account. Leonard is right to hide it though. Whatba dilema.
Why is such a big deal for couples to have a secret bank account. She should be thanking him for saving money for an emergency
Lack of trust?
Deception?
For ordinary, normal couples? Because of the little thing called 'lack of trust'
But given penny's track record, Leonard here was perfectly justified.
How is she still in debt given she’s making incredible money - more than Leonard apparently?
Because that's how bad her spending is. If anything, it further shows why it's good Leonard doesn't share allbhis money, since she makes more and still spends so much and so irresponsibly, she hasn't made a dent in her credit card debt. Leonard makes less, and not only has he no debt, he's managed to put some aside just in case.

Yall are completely forgetting the show, Penny has massive credit card debt from the earlier seasons such as when she had to pay for one of her exs car problems and Sheldon was completely in the wrong for calling Leonard out on it.
I like Leonard, but he was such an insecure loser, lol.
true. for example, Ross in Friends learned to stand his ground after breaking up with Rachel, and actually was roasting Rachel very hard! 😂 had the best comebacks against her, like 'fine by me, hope she wins' - that was a hilarious scene. or 'oh, don't worry about me falling asleep, I still have your letter!' 🤣 That was the difference: Ross became a stronger character and more confident in himself, Leonard was always a wimp, and so pathetic, that he actually got worse and more wimpy after he married Penny, but the same happened with Chandler when he married Monica, and Howard after he married Bernie lol So Leonard, Howard and Chandler on Friends all became total wimps.
I think him saving up separately ain't the problem, it's the fact he fears Penny's reaction so much that he decided not to let her know about it. Penny's weird response proves his point. I abhor her character in this episode good lord.

The wrong part is keeping the bank account a secret…nothing with keeping a separate account for emergencies if it’s agreed upon, but it should definitely be discussed with your life partner. If you don’t even have enough trust to share this with your partner, there needs to be some reevaluating about the relationship.
He knows he's weak and he knows his partner would put pressure on him to spend money. I don't know if it's about trust issues.
@@annaheart7731
You're right, but Leonard is intelligent and "psychologically literate enough" (thanks to his terrible mother) that he knows he has an obsession with Penny, an inferiority complex, and an inability to set boundaries, which he will have to overcome, probably in all these years also could have.
Either this would have resulted in him never starting a long-term relationship with Penny, let alone getting married, or he would have started it as a confident, boundary-setting, assertive, leading partner without obsession.
Then they would have improved Penny's handling of money, at least partially paid off her debts and they would have savings in the account, which will not be touched except in emergencies.
Presumably the writers didn't make this development because they thought it would be too idealistic, too cliched, no longer funny and that the audience wouldn't like it.

Here’s some advice in case you ever play this game NEVER ask questions that are too personal 😂
I bet leonard had more school debt than penny has credit card debt.
This is exactly why Big Bang Theory is having a lot of discussion of not aging well. a lot of the jks in this series is based on Toxciity of relationships and they really have not aged well at all.
My humble opinion (for what little it's worth) is that it ages poorly due to thin skinned folks that can't laugh at fictional situations that reflect the common failings of us all. I promise.... a perfectly balanced "modern" couple without issues or angst would be staggeringly un-funny.
"If we say 'we mustn’t criticize or offend them,' then humor is gone, and with humor goes a sense of proportion, and then, as far as I’m concerned, you’re living in 1984" : John Cleese
That's because you've been brainwashed to feel offended about literally everything. I dare you watch ANY comedy shot before 2015 all the way until the end without feeling offended about at least one thing. The new "normal" in western world now is to be bitter and complain about everything to drag attention to yourself. That's the social media effect.
My wife and I have 6 accounts for this reason. We each have a personal savings and checking. We also have a joint account where all the bills come out. As long as the bills are being paid, we don't care what the other does with their money within reason

"What good is it if you don't use it?" That thought captures a big part of why even middle income people live paycheck to paycheck.
