    If you are able to take an anatomy and physiology class somewhere, DO IT! It helps so much with retention of proportion and locations of major muscle and bones in the body. Comparative anatomy for animals (real of fantastical) just stretches those locations and proportions. Taxidermy is another great skill transfer. Keep at it Bill!!!

      Punished Props Academy a maker is only as good as his tools so buy once and spend the little bit more and it will last for ever I found this out the hard way. as I have said before if you don’t have it make it to do the job and it can be customised to your own needs any maker you see have made there own tools from time to time even if you can afford the tools sometimes it’s better to make to your needs. well that’s my opinion love the work btw bill as all ways

    so ... Monster clay can be re-used after molding ? I mean you don't really bake it like a normal clay and it's not really drying so ... when you've finished your mold you can juste destory your piece, keep the clay and using it again on another project ? Right ?

    • @punishedprops
      @punishedprops  Před 5 lety +8

      That is correct! Since it's waxed based it will never dry out, only harden a bit. You can reheat it and get it back to a working or even completely liquid state, make something again, and destroy/reuse it again!

    • @Cullens_Workshop
      @Cullens_Workshop Před 5 lety +12

      Yep! I've known guys who've had the same clay for over 15 years.
      I do recommend covering any sculpt with a trash bag when you're not working on it. it helps keep the pet hair out!
      When all done with a sculpt I put all the caly into a crockpot on low then let it get to a liquid state and filter it through a wire strainer. This will help you filter out any stuff like silicone, plasti paste, fiberglass resin, or pet hair. Then I pour the liquid clay into different containers like silicone meatloaf, brownie trays and wrap the cooled clay in aluminum foil. that way i have a variety of chunks of clay ready for for all kinds of projects.

    Actually quite a few people (especially those near forests or highways) have collections of skulls and other bones. In America, quite a few are coyotes and small mammals, but hunters obviously can get their hands on things like deer and bear more easily.
    Not only are they great resources for anatomy and science, but the physical pieces can also be sources for aesthetic and inspiration.
