Honestly it would be a better ending if they keep the canon of them splitting but change it a bit to where they end up remarrying and stay together, it stays connected to the canon and keeps the fans happy
One thing I kind of hated was the fact they just never went anywhere with Georgie and that one girl who he liked wyd did not want to date him that he was friends with but he pretty much won her over and then nothing she just disappeared from the show
I know it's a long shot but I'm kinda hoping they alter some of the stories mentioned during BBT like they have for Young Sheldon in the new series. I really like Emily as an actress. I also have been enjoying their parenting story lines in the show.
