    Why all this hate towards Terminator Salvation? I think it was fantastic. It had the best post apocalyptic settings, great effects, it introduced the concept of infiltration units, it showed how John Connor got his face scars, it was different no time travel no alternate timelines, it stayed loyal to the story and so on. The reason why Skynet becomes Genisys in the new timeline is because Cyberdine no longer gets the the T-800's arm and processing chip from the "bad" T-800. It is actually the T-3000 that goes back in time (sometime before 2017) to help Dyson create Skynet in the form of Genisys.

      Yea people don't realize that the original T800 is in fact the father of Skynet the way Reese is to Conner. Cause Skynet did in fact send the T800 and T1000 back at same cause it knew first would fail but it needed it to exist. There is concept art for a deleted scene in T2 that confirms that. It shows them send Reese back than John finds the T800 and one of his soilder's say's that skynet also sent back a prototype terminator to 95

Fast 7 made $250M in roughly 7 days of its premier, Transformers: AOE made $310M in China as final box office...... • @TheBrass18
      @TheBrass18 Před 3 lety +1

      @@irieite9666 the time line and storyline would be fixed or easier if Kyle Reese wasn’t John’s dad. That’s where it’s gets confusing!
      The only reason John sends back Reese to the past is to protect his mother and be his father, and after T2, technically speaking, after the Cyberdyne is blown up and T-800 are destroyed in the molten steel, Skynet would never have existed, so there is no war, between humans and robots, and there is no need to send Reese back to the past, so John Connor never sends Reese back, because he never existed. So sum up, it’s pointless to change the past, because judgement day was always going to happen. So basically, the dark future still exists, except there is alternate reality where it doesn’t. But John Connor, should not exist in that alternate reality, because there is no need to, but he does, so in every reality, there will be always some version of skynet fighting humans.

    The film is surprisingly deep, they allude to the fact that they are stuck in a never ending loop, full of moves and counter-moves, with neither skynet or the resistance able to break the cycle. Who knows how long they have been fighting for, how many terminators and soldiers they have sent back and forth, but even so neither is able to break the stalemate.
    From a production point of view it was a pretty good move, you can essentially cannonise all terminator works, and spin a story which creates the impression of a futile unwinnable struggle.

  • @WeylandYutaniCorp91
    @WeylandYutaniCorp91 Před 9 lety +28

    You forgot to mention that the writers explained that the Skynet who assimilated Connor in the "original" timeline was from a different timeline, possibly from Salvation or another, who as they say, "dimension hopped" in his last effort to win the war since he's seen himself lose in every timeline he has visited.
    That's just what they said.

      I know it's outrageous, but that's what they said, maybe I just believe it because I still like Salvation, and 3 wouldn't be so bad if they rectify the ending. I just feel the ending of T3 pissed on T2, that's just me. Again, maybe I just believe it because I want all 5 movies in the same canon.
      I mean, some people think the writers were joking because they were talking about Matt Smith who previously played Dr. Who, some sources even say that Genisys is a straight up reboot with no connections to any of the Terminator movies.
      Hell, if I could change one thing about the movie, I would take out the part when Skynet grabs Connor and say that Connor was assimilated in a timeline we hadn't seen yet.

    • @GonzoTehGreat
      @GonzoTehGreat Před 9 lety

      WeylandYutaniInc91 Salvation is underated. I liked it as a standalone redempton story but it didn't feel like a Terminator film to me because they completely changed how the future war looked and recast everyone!
      T3 ending did contradict T2 ending but was consistent with T1 ending so Cameron left himself open to something like that by leaving the T2 ending ambiguous because he wanted to make a T3 but never got round to it. The rest of T3 is best forgotten!
      A 5 movie canon is probably asking too much. Alien, Superman, Star Wars, LOTR all suffered a drop on quality after the initial 2-3 films because either the film making team changed and/or they ran out of a decent story to tell...
      I honestly don't know yet what to think of TG but I still prefer the simpler "causal loop" of the earlier films than this multi-verse explanation.

    NewMediaRockstars, you asked why the new timeline had Judgement Day pushed back. I think it's because Sarah and Pops were actively destroying all the tech that was sent back in time from the future. Without the robot arm and chip from Terminator 1 being left behind for people to find, Judgement Day would not have happened in 1997.

    I think that the T-800 that was sent back to 1973 and the one that was sent to protect John Connor are the same one. In the alternate timeline after being affected by T2 and T3 that version of Skynet changed its plan to send the T-1000 back to kill Sarah as a kid instead of John. And naturally the resistance sent their T-800 back after it

      This is the question I also asked myself. My conclusion:The John Connor in Genisys is technically the last John Connor from 2029. By jumping from 1984 to 2017 they destroyed the possibility of John being born in 1985. The earliest he could be born (IF he is born) would be 2018 which would make him 11 in 2029. So either the whole thing would have to be postponed or there would be a peaceful future OR there would be no John Connor at all since they barely had any chemistry at all. Since the sequels to Genisys are not going to happen we will most likely not find out.

    basicly the time original time line of Terminator does still exist when you consider in theory one cannot effect the past nor future as like for example take dragon ball z when trunks went back into the past this past he went to was entirely different from the one he knew thus creating 2 seperate time lines or in short it's the multiverse theory as an example needless to say when we look back at terminator 2 and the alternate time line John has a family and Sarah Grew old to become a grandmother to even say the time lines were not erased only creating alternate time lines.

    • @bassplayer807

      Just like in the History of Trunks timeline, Gohan died because he never achieved SS2, the androids were never absorbed by Cell in that timeline, and android 16 didn't exist...... and the only way Trunks easily took out 17, 18, and Cell was because he took the time machine back to train with his father Vegeta, and then come back and annihilate 17, 18, and Cell with ease....... When Trunks explained his future to everyone it reminded me of how Kyle Reese explained his hellish dystopian future. It would suck being the only Saiyan left alive.

      bassplayer807 That is why i said the original time line of Terminator is not erased it just created different time lines or to even say infact alternate time lines.
      Exactly like John Conner said in Terminator Salvation this future is different than what his mother told him about things had changed but not only that Terminator 3 was as well an alternate time line of judgement day.
      Even tho in Terminator 2 we could see they had destroyed everything to prevent judgement day but because of time travel they created alternate time lines and thus the creation of genisys

      Leander Lumbanraja The problem is that whilst they can co-exist there is no way they can meld together. The T-800 cannot be in the 1984 where Pops and Sarah already have altered and where a T-1000 has already been sent with what we can assume a new target in the form of Reese. Having already altered the past, the 1984 is now different. Skynet would not send a T-800 to a time period which it has knowledge has been altered to now include a hardened warrior and a protector T-800 easily capable of destroying skynet's terminator. The only return that could make sense is the T-1000 attempting to kill Reese. The other T-800 should no longer ever be there, the timeline has changed.

In genisys the leap didnt start until john connor went to the past i think jihn arrived in 2013 or something which is even stated that he was sent to ensure the creation of skynet because without the t-800 parts skynet would not be created.

I originally thought Genisys had erased all previous timelines due to John Connor stating judgement day happened in 1997. Now I realise the beginning of Genisys happens on the original timeline where Judgement Day occurred in 1997, this also can explain the plot line of his wife not being around. Judgement Day gets pushed back to 2017 because Cyberdyne doesnt have the technology yet. They only had the technology in 1997 because they had found the arm and chip of the original Terminator from 1984. Now it all makes sense.

    There was something else about the 1984 film, and I think you should know this. This is from IMDB:
    "James Cameron's original idea was that Skynet would send two Terminators at once: one would be a cyborg, while the other would consist of liquid metal and was able to shape-shift (the resistance would also sent two humans, but one was to die during the time travel). Cameron realized early on that this latter effect could not be realized with the special effects at the time, so he abandoned it early on. When a completely computer-generated special effect proved to be a success in Cameron's The Abyss (1989), he revived the idea of the liquid Terminator for the sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)."
    So that means and probably implied that James Cameron had always wanted to distort time and ended up with a lot of confusion. That mean Skynet did send a lot of terminator to not only killed Sarah but probably also John too.

    it has been confirmed from the writers of t-gensys that the t-1000 that killed sarah's parents was the same one that was in 1984. In 1973, when the young Terminator arrives to protect Sarah, she’s just witnessed the death of her parents. The movie mentions “liquid metal” in the scene but the writers confirmed it was the same T-1000, played by Byung-hun Lee, seen later in the movie who was there. “So when she kills that thing in the acid, she’s killing the thing that killed her parents,” said Kalogridis. too bad robert patrick wasn't in it. he would have made a good t-1000 in the movie since he, like arnold is old and since pops gets older in 2017 with gray hair. Robert patrick was the best in playing the advanced terminators. he was colder, and more dark in the movie, the tx-9 i dont know. she was weaker in my opinion than the t-1000. she wasnt liquid metal. and arnold nearly took her out with a rocket launcher and she was all damaged after he landed the chopper on her in the end. if it was the t-1000, he would have just pulled himself back together.

      @Ackreti Před 9 lety

      +terry autry Nice. My explanation was the T-1000 comes from one of many timelines, just some unknown timeline, and he is just filling action scenes. However this is much better explanation and makes more sense since Sarah said she was on the run since childhood.

    • @Ackreti
      @Ackreti Před 9 lety

      +terry autry Did they explain why Silberman (police psychologist) remembers Terminators from the past in Genisys film? Siberman in Genisys timeline shouldn't be able to remember terminators from T1, T2 and T3. According to Genisys timeline cops and Silberman never saw terminators (like in T1), Silberman was never a Sarah's doctor (T2 Silberman and T-800 in hospital) and Silberman never saw T-800 in T3 film (the graveyard scene where Silberman saw T-800).

    • @terryautry6493
      @terryautry6493 Před 9 lety +4

      that wasn't Dr Silverman. that old guy that you saw is one of the cops in the beginning of the movie who handcuffs kyle reese. one of the cops gets killed by the t-1000 and the other hides behind some desk with reese and uncuffs him, and then the terminator and sarah drive a truck into the building, the cop escapes because the t-000 was more interested in chasing sarah and kyle and pops. so the old guy in 2017 is the same guy from 84, the cop that uncuffs reese in the building. Silverman wasn't in the film. Because since the t-800 was killed on the spot soon as he got there, and since sarah already know what was going to happen, things didn't go like they would have in the first movie. in the first movie, t-800 chases sarah and kyle and that's when Sarah meets silverman. since this didnt happen in genysys It means silverman doesnt know anything about this. and He's not in 2017 because he's probably dead due to old age. And just scrap t-2 and the later films. none that never happened because of what we see in this movie. Skynet, from a different time line according to the writers is not the skynet you see in all the other films. this is a different one from another dimension. according to writers, he came from somewhere else. Skynet turned into human form and traveled through the different timelines and knew it would get beaten, so that's why he said to john when he attacked him, while reese was going back in time, he said ive come along ways to see you. that means skynet is telling john he came from far in the future. Skynet knew everything from what was going to happen in all the three timelines, so it just got tired of losing and finally went to 2029 and pushed judgement day to 2017 instead of 97.

    • @terryautry6493
      @terryautry6493 Před 9 lety +5

      and at the beginning of the film, the 2029 you see is the actual original 2029 from the first terminator. because according to writers, judgement day actually happened already in 97. so that means when you hear reese mention judgement day at the beginning of the film, he's referring to judgement day 97. but since the weird skynet came on the scene in 2029 history already changed. so that's why kyle was having all those memories. it's more like a life he would have lived in judgement day didnt happen in 97. Because the lady says kyle wasnt born til 2002. that means since the newly created 2017 timeline, judgement day never started. so just scrap terminators 2-4. and just rely on the first one and the last one. I say this because john sends kyle to 84, the first one. so that means t-2 hasnt happened yet or t-3. only difference is, since a terminator went to 73, things from 84 were still going to play out like in the first one but since sarah already knows, things didnt go as planned. thats why you see the t-800 from 84 there. it's because everyone was going to happen like in the first film. and that means there couldnt be a t-2 because cyberdynamics i think it was in the first film, couldnt become cyberdine nor could it make skynet in t-2. skynet was only created due to the chip from the first terminator. that's when skynet is being created already in the second film. so now it's like all tiemlines from Genyses 84 on forward are deleted and erased after sarah and kyle go to the future in 2017. they are actually in an alternate timeline from kyle's other memories. that's why john tells pops after beating him says you are nothing but a relic from a deleted timeline. all timelines from the past are already gone. But since skynet is still out there, that means in the sequel it will show up on the scene. and i dont think there will ever be another john connor. I think sarah and kyle will lead the new resistance along with pops since pops got upgraded to almost like a t-1000 which means he wont age anymore and it means his parts wont be rusted like you saw in Genysys. they said they are planning two sequels. so i hope we get to find out who sent pops and the t-1000 back.

      Güvenç Arı Just forget Genisys and focus on T1. Just like the guy in the video said, the events in T1 where part of the history, Kyle will always go back in time, there are no paradox because in the history of Terminator all the events that leads to the war in 2029 happen that exact way. In fact:
      Skynet might never actually tried to kill Sarah in the first place, its a AI so it has no emotions, even loosing the war wont matter to it, Skynet just was making sure that all the event happen. Sending back the firs Terminator to 1984 pused John to send Kyle back, that terminator being destroyed lead to Skynet creation. If Skynet knew that it would do that in order to exist. Sjynet always knew that its first T800 would fail, sent it back to fail and be created.
      Then T2 happen and, acordingt to James Cameron, the war never happen and John and Sarah are the only leftover of a timeline that no longer exist and will never do. There are no alternate universe, just the main one was replaced by a new one and only the Connor will ever know

      Güvenç Arı I actually have another theory. In the original timeline, before all time-travel happens, the father of John Connor is Kyle Reese's grandfather (also possibly named Kyle Reese), who in 1984 would be around the same age as Kyle Reese in 2029 (T1). Then, after the war happens and Kyle Reese is sent from the future, he changes the timeline and Sarah Connor never meets his grandfather.
