He had to let the NTSB comb through the wreckage and make a tentative finding.
      It was standard procedure.
Trump had 14,000 derailments, some fatal....where was Trump? Elaine Chao?

He was on paid parental leave for much of the time since Biden appointed him. I hope Congress stipulates that people in top positions must be available to work the job that they are considered for and that they then accept. I have nothing against people in less important spots taking advantage of paid parental leave, but a nation either needs agencies to be run by top notch people, or maybe we should just divest ourselves of all these mostly worthless agencies. (All agencies are captured by corporations through the revolving door situation. Example - an individual works for Pfizer, then gets a top job at CDC or FDA, approves of crap that should never get approved of. When they leave they get a cushy, 6 figure job as a reward for screwing us normal people over.)

This guy prepared for this visit. He has done his homework. Smooth Talking with high vocabulary. Sounds like the big muster cloud in the sky with intoxicating black smoke was not really that important. By the way crude oil and petroleum products are shipped by pipeline and tankers. Rail can also be used, but only to distribution locations. Therefore, Rail cars are not dealing with higher hazard than E. Palestine experience. This the worst train wreck and most dangerous of its kind. This guy is so arrogant and could care less about the people in the United States. Very sad.

Yes. He prepared. He did his homework. That's what a good government official does before opening his mouth to give accurate answers to the public. That you judge him as arrogant based on having earned an excellent vocabulary is no better than someone judging you or me for our lack of input in a conversation about Leslie Epstein with a creative writing professor.
His point in bringing up the Canadian incident was that it resulted in stricter regulations, and that this tragedy will also have the effect of the government tightening regulations - unless the rail companies regulate themselves, even if it means loss of profit, which they won't do, because the executives are greedy shells of human beings who don't give two shites about the people of this country. They barely see us as numbers, let alone human.
It's such a comfort that you care so deeply about Americans, unlike Buttigieg who has no f^cks to give, that you took the time to post insults on CZcams rather than suggest a solution. I'm not qualified to do this man's job, and I'm guessing you aren't either. Someone might suggest that you tend to your own blatant arrogance before attempting to project it on someone on social media.

@@bernadetteelizabeth5394 Mistakes are made. It’s called human error. Don’t get me wrong I don’t condole the Railroad for not doing a better job in mandating better safety procedures and regulation. We learn from mistakes and correcting them and do our job. And when your buddy doesn’t show up to his job then he is judged and going to get insulted. So, thousands Of People Had to Evacuate!!!! Spill of toxic chemicals and fire with a cloud of smoke that covered over homes of wildlife and human beings. At the time this happen, they interview your hero Pete Buttigieg and all he cared about was the lack of diversity in construction sites of racist highways or white construction crews. Did he speak about the derailment and the impact on people during the time it happen hmmm? Did you see him rush over or remotely and go to the mics to recommend aid? NOPE!! Nothing!! Nata!! It’s called MIA - MISSING IN ACTION. Gone! Out of site! Partying with his husband! Another word he could care less what happen.
Yeah, he talked about the Rail lobbyists. So What?? The repeal the 2015 rule which required newer safer electronic braking systems. Let me help you understand what happen. The problem was the timing of the alarms from overheated wheel bearing did not happen fast enough. It’s due to an operator not a sensor……. Do understand??? Hmmm? The setting was set wrong in the temperature parameters. The settings were not high enough to trigger alarms when the train passed two earlier sensors, which would slow or stop train faster. Would brand new sensors have done a better job? If they are not set up correctly the same thing would have happened. You comment of people getting rich thru corps greed bla bla bla bla is the same old phony argument. How they make cuts and how they endanger communities and lives on purpose to get more money. Seriously? You should pay attention more what your other buddy biden is doing with Ukraine. Talk about money and greed. Ukraine is a treasure trove of lithium, right now holding about 500,000 tons, which is a crucial component for large-capacity batteries in electric vehicles and clean-energy storage systems. Lithium has become virtually irreplaceable in electric vehicle (EV) batteries because of its efficient energy storage. Give taxpayers money away for the war or send young American kids and then after the war establish trade for the rich to get richer. That’s how the rich get richer. By starting wars. Now that’s classic understanding that isn’t taught in universities.

Excellent assessment. Informative for the general public so we all can better understand how this process works: you as DOT Secretary shouldn't interfere when NTSB (an investigative agency) are in the process of determining what took place. You are doing a great job. Your time spent with local responders onsite and the people of East Palestine to learn more about what happened does not go unnoticed by citizens of our nation. Continue doing good things, sir. We appreciate your leadership. Thank you.
