- Another rant except this time using data from most recent sales on eBay. 151 is still my favorite set probably since coming back to the hobby and I think I can confidently say it will be the best of SV era.

100% and for the pure that it's responsible for bringing more of us OG pokeboomers back into collecting. I see across all the discord that 151 got them back in, at a rate that's so much higher than what any other set will do. Hands down. That's my 2 cents.

I have not collected Pokemon cards in 15+ years. I just spent $200 this month in 151 and I don’t think I’ll stop trying to catch them all 😂
I stopped collecting after fossil, because life happened, and didn't return until obsidian flames. Upon my return, I still love every holo and was interested in the look of reverse holos. I realized, my old perspective of pokemon cards where you were lucky to even get a holo, allows me to enjoy every card and artwork. But since 151's release, it's the only set I even care about mastering. It's beautiful.

When 151came out, I had 4 PC ETB, 1 BB, 1 Binder, 1 poster an 2 UPC preordered. First box I opened was the poster set and pulled a Charizard. Sent the the Charizard to PSA and it came back a 10!

Well I love 151 but if you’re mainly looking to buy and sell down the road look at any of the scarlet violet booster boxes all really good prices paldea evolved seems to be really popular, base set is one of my favorites because of koraidon and miraidon but 151 is probably also a safe bet too particularly if you can get a case of booster bundles 40% off that’s a good investment. 😎🙏🏼

I think for now 90$ is still a great price to pay but I bet they do some kind of reprint as well as tik tok pitching some deals in 😎🙏🏼
Do you think the TikTok deals will come back? This is my first time collecting modern so I don’t know much about how it all goes, like is there still wholesale for sellers to restock or do we have to hope for a reprint?
I’ve made the plan to open packs till I go under on price spent to price pulled so it stays fun without being too hard on the wallet. I pulled the charizard sir early so that made it possible lol. I’ve been making new accounts on tiktok and buying a box at a time to lower price per pack. It seems like the occasional 80 dollar upcs and 40 dollar etbs have dried up.
Deals have dried up for now but there’s a good chance tik tok deals come back at some point as well as a very good chance there’s a reprint for 151. Demand is so strong people will buy either way IMO. Pulling charizard early is definitely a blessing. I pulled it early too but I know that was pure luck. It’s a great set! Perfect way to get started back up. Honestly the best set in 2 eras IMO. Maybe even best modern set ever. I also am a sucker for the set so don’t mind me 😂😎🙏🏼
@@orionsires yeah I agree, it'd shock me if they didn't reprint. I don't think a lot of younger collectors realize how much of a homerun this set is for people that grew up in the base jungle fossil era. There's so many people I see saying this brought them back including myself. Definitely going to get more at once if those deals come back though, kicking myself for not taking more advantage of those 70ish dollar UPCs!
151 is the bomb of S&V! Completed the set pulled all the cards except for the Erica SIR which thanks to your Ebay store I was able to get a pristine copy (Thanks My Brother). We still have 15 mini BB unopened, 3 UPC's and 4 Pokemon Center ETB's for our sealed collection! Appreciate all the work you put in to the community! Peace my Brother!

I would open because I love the set but these will go up in price as more product gets opened so keeping sealed is a good game plan 😎🙏🏼

Quite possibly the best set ever made I mean it’s a tough choice as far as the best set of all time BUT as far as modern for now it’s hard to beat IMO 😎
10:43 With the huge nostalgia factor, why didn't they include Team Rocket, Misty/Brock/Prof.Oak instead of these random trainers? This would have solidified the set as THE set of all time for me. Base set/Jungle/fossil would just be OG at that point.
No you’re absolutely right. There’s so much they could have done here but I am a betting man and I bet they do that with another version of 151 as a special set in the future. Erika and Gio were solid but the other full sets I have no clue why they included them when they could have taken things a bit further. Still think it’s the best set of modern so far. It is always a good indicator of success if folks are talking about the set reminding them of their childhood. I noticed the consistent mentioning of this. 151 definitely carried thus far.

Found booster bundle case of 151 at my Walmart and had to get them all lol felt bad but there gonna do so well in the future had to ! And YES THIS SET IS THE SET FOR SCARLET AND VIOLET !
You got suuuuper lucky IMO they never have cases retail. I got lucky on release day at GameStop but even they said they wouldn’t sell me a full case again. 😂

I a 151 fan boy but I really do wish we would of got atleast a full art pikachu and also a few more illustration rares. I personally would of loved a Haunter illustration rare or a Chansey. What pokemon do you think should of got a Illustration rare? (Might be a good topic for a video)
You’re absolutely right. They could have done so much more with it. I’m hoping they have a line just like it now for the OG gen’s. It is sad they didn’t do more with full arts and mainly the pokemon also Brock ash and Misty would have been cool trainers 😎🙏🏼

The ONLY WAY I repeat THE ONLY WAY to top 151 is to drop the modern gen 2, modern team rocket, unfortunately the paradox rifts & temporal forces will always be sold at $30 a etb and $2 packs that can’t be given away it is what it is.
I agree with you. It’s not that I like dogging other sets it just is what it is. Although a lot of folks like the newer sets. Everyone’s aloud to have an opinion. A modern team rocket set 151 2.0 type sets would be absolutely epic!! 😎🙏🏼

Imagine crystal charizard SIR 219/175 think of the dark Pokémon the gym challenges of the world 🌎 it will be hard to too 151 for a long while whatever tops it we can only imagine 🙏🏼
Basically all american sellers on ebay are charging $15 minimum for shipping if youre buying from Canada.
$15 CAD is the minimum to ship anything with tracking as well.

I'm only buying 151 to hold it. Is it a cool set? Sure, but I really prefer the other sets in scarlet and violet solely from collecting, especially for me rn Paradox Rift and the upcoming Temporal Forces.
I totally understand lots of folks are happy with the upcoming sets and 151 is not cheap nor does it have a traditional booster box and makes far more sense to keep it sealed in some respects but this video is great for your sealed or singles because there’s potential your boxes contain cards that would 10. Temporal forces is going to really take some getting used to for me haha. I do like rift but mainly for the roaring moon tbh. I appreciate you engaging the video anyways and sharing your opinion. 😎🙏🏼

Sup Sires! We should play it smart with this set… I’ve only opened a poster collection, binder, couple mini tins, and an etb! Not enough to judge the condition but no lie, pulled a gold card from etb and that card is soo damaged it’s without a doubt worst looking card I own… out of all my bulk from base set to now 😂
I think we should play it smart with this set, I’m keeping everything I get sealed and going for singles like I should’ve done when I came back into the end of XY and beginning of sun and moon! I will say this though.. first pack into that poster collection I pulled the Zapdos sar, and it does look beautiful! Definitely fun to open but nothing else in S/V looks like it can compete with 151, definitely think master ball collecting should be jumped on now too before people jump all over it

151 card values have held steady. It's the OG 'mon, obviously a banger set, which is nice considering SV has been kinda lame. 6 pack booster bundles are at $40 market value right now. 151 is a no-brainer for investments tbh.

Can someone please explain to me what makes the cards have future value.. im talking in a number of years time.
I ask because with the amount of people that are hording boxes, the amount of people collecting and now saving binders and cards, no one is making the mistake like they did in 1999 by throwing em away.
What if in 5 years they do a simular set that's much better with all the OG Pokemons. Will value drop on 151 and no one care anymore... I'm generally trying to work out of now is a good time to sell all my cards.
I can't see value going crazy in the future with everything I've mentioned above 🤔
I genuinely believe value will rise slowly on modern regardless. Will it be crazy growth probably not. If you have a better plan like IRA, active trading in stocks or money market accounts I don’t think it’s a bad time to sell either way. No one can tell you with certainty what the right move is but trust yourself and know your financial limits, goals etc. Hope this helps. Even with “hoarding” which I don’t think everyone is doing truthfully, I still think modern shows a lot of potential I just don’t preach it every other video because I don’t want to be recycling content like other creators I see doing the same “investing” videos over and over. Sorry to hear that fam :/ even though there’s nothing retail you can order online right? I do wish they had this product more available retail for bottom msrp. Even if they do have it here it’s overpriced. With rift out I don’t see it anymore anyways. The real question is when/if Pokemon will restock? 😎🙏🏼
@@orionsiresNah, for Aussies nothing available online either. You can still buy the UPC and maybe the alakazam box but that's all that's left for quite a while.
There's the option of buying from overseas like Amazon, but there's so many horror stories.
I have a question, why does English 151 sell higher than Japanese 151?
Not all cases but most of the singles are doing better probably because the western market is absorbing product at a faster rate than Japanese mostly because the box prices are worlds apart it’s 160-170$ for a Japanese box but you can get a UPC in English for 70$ off tik tok (90$ now) and you get good value out of most the English cards so I feel it’s less of gamble. Now Japanese does have the master ball reverses and those can seriously bring value to the set. I think both are great buys and fun to open. I personally think Japanese looks nicer too but I’ve been collecting English so long I can’t stop now lol hope this helps 😎🙏🏼
@@orionsires yea i got back in solely because of 151 and i always thought Japanese would go for higher due to card quality, what im assuming would be smaller supply since smaller country, and probably a personal bias but the Japanese text and back side just looks cleaner to me. But to see some of the singles go for much higher makes me want to collect english over japanese. I think what I might do is go for a full master ball set but then finish the rares in english
151 print quality is very rough.
I won’t argue on this because I have personally seen some terrible cards but overall with everything I’ve opened I was quite pleased with the quality although of course I should probably be more critical of Pokémon co not forcing better QC whether it was the process or the packaging that damaged a lot of cards. They may have already fixed the issue who knows. 😎🙏🏼
@@orionsires I'm not sure how I personally feel about card quality problems, but all I know is the 3 SIRs I have won't be graded.
I am grading a charmander since I it should hit a 10.
If a random add for a set of pokemon cards could make me get back into Pokemon after 20 years, then yeah, it's pretty solid.

One downside to the popularity of this set with older collectors and players coming back to the hobby is that I think it won't extend to other sets, what I mean is that once I am done with 151 I don't think I will collect any other sets personally. I do want to finish my base set though, after finding my old cards. Maybe I'm the odd one out, let's hope so.@@orionsires

The value appears more in Japanese for investors.
Will korean & chinese 151 be worth more than english!?
I personally believe both sets offer great value in either language BUT each has their strong points. The individual singles in English 90%+ of them are selling for much more than Japanese. But Japanese has the master balls which makes the master set WAY more collectible but also WAY more $$$ upfront too whether you rip it or buy it. English is reasonably affordable AND fun to rip. I just wish English had booster boxes for the set and added a few more pokemon to it. Being a special set was 151’s weakness I think. 😎🙏🏼

I literally was here for base set, pulled a base set blastoise in 1999 and I STILL only think 151 is pretty good.
What is so good about it? Doesn’t even come close to evolving skies or anything like it, especially not in English. Should’ve had 10 more art rares and maybe I’d be agreeing with the people saying that. I still play all the games though, so I’m not just stuck on gen 1. It’s a b+ from me.

Finding booster bundles at retail locations has yet to happen for me. I’ve only seen it one time at GameStop. Actually I still need GameStop for examples just like this lol.

Either way I’ll be happy because reprints mean the product is more available and prices may still hold even after a reprint. If the demand keeps growing and people love the set nothing can stop it. Evolving skies are as printed heavily and it’s still really expensive. 😎🙏🏼

Haha it’s ok I don’t always need agreement I just have genuine opinions and feel like the set won’t be forgotten because it does have the big 3 all together and some extras. They could have added so much more. Investment wise definitely because it’s probably what the masses like. It might not have the most flash but the demand for it doesn’t lie. I think people will talk about 151 into 2025. But who knows Pokémon might have something up their sleeve for the final set 😎🙏🏼

Dont think it the best set of sv era...maybe currently best set so far... temporal forces art work look pretty good so far... usually the 2nd half of an era is where the great sets start showing up
Hey thanks for watching and sharing! I certainly can’t see the future and agree mainly so far the best set but I think there’s a 75% chance it’s the best set in this era. They’ll have to really knock the last set out of the park for this one to seem irrelevant. But you could be right Pokémon might have some absolute banger sets in store. I’m a fan of some of the cards in temporal such as the shiftry mainly so far and the entei but it doesnt quite move me. But I may enjoy more once I’m opening it. Beautiful arts nonetheless. 😎🙏🏼
