My cousin was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was 8 months old, before they added testing for CF into the newborn testing in 2005. She received a double lung transplant on 12/13/14 after being listed for 313 days. Her donor's family gave us 2 extra years with her for which I will forever be grateful... she passed on 12/6/16 when she was 23. But I truly believe that she is happy, healthy, whole, and watching over all of us. She was the strongest person I've ever known. Our family said multiple times that we wished we could take her pain on for her, and when she passed that's exactly what we did. She made me promise before she passed that I wouldn't stop working with the foundation because she said she always knew it was what I was put on earth to do. I have health issues myself, but I did start a non-profit that work son a 50/50 model. 50% of all funds raised goes directly to the local CF Chapter, and the other 50% goes directly to patients and their families to help with not only medicine and hospital bills, but if they have to stay in a hotel because they don't live super close by. Its my bestie and I's passion project.

I find it interesting that the endotracheal tube and laryngoscope is mentioned. I always wonder what particular scenarios would call for endotracheal intubation ( putting a tube in the windpipe). Are there any other circumstances where it needs to be done beside respiratory failure or traumatic injuries ?
When my brother asphyxiated on vomit, they tried to get a tube down his throat. Unfortunately it was too chunky and they couldn't get it in until it was too late.

Brain death is over a couple of days? So if someone had no pulse was produced dead and they done a autopsy, could the brain still feel pain? Might sound a daft question but genuinely curious/ scared!

I loved New Amsterdam but in this last season they copied two episode storylines from Chicago Med, seemed kinda cheap to just recycle an idea from a show that the same network produces.

any episode from either show will be enough for a video and in sons of Anarchy the main characters wife is a trauma surgeon so there are lots of hospital scenes and illegal surgeries
It's so weird that the medical student did not already know to go deeper when performing CPR, breaking ribs is a normal consequence.

@@madisonnn6108 it was I believe the shooting at the park 👀 like 1000 people came through in 30 minutes and if someone flatlined they were declared dead to make room for patients who were still conscious

Hi Dr. Wagner. I was curious. A while back during the beginning of the pandemic, I dealt with stress and anxiety. I have dealt with some strange symptoms which include wheezy breathing, migraines, vomiting, fatigue, and my mind was racing when I tried to relax. Are these symptom’s normal for someone who deals with stress and anxiety?
Not a doctor but everyone I know with anxiety faces those same exact symptoms.
@@ValerieFire well I’m just glad my symptoms are temporary. Early on, I was scared, thinking random things like am I going to die? Am I gonna have a heart attack? Now I know to be positive and let the random symptom ride it’s course

Very much so!
Lot of times we will then have to put in chest tubes if there is a lung puncture and the patient survives

Quite often actually. This scene was an edit on TikTok which is why I decided to watch Chicago med. Most shows fail to show what a team effort a hospital really is and a lot of them are medically inaccurate (ehem cough Grey's Anatomy cough). Most med students are lost and make mistakes. Most nurses are very experienced and offen correct not just med students but new residents too(old residents sometimes).
Nurses do most of the grunt work and have very good understanding of what's usually going.
I also liked the show cause they let pathology, er, attendings, fellows, administrators, nurses do their own thing together. Lots of shows miss that, the diagnostic team doesn't do everything they just investigate .......

chicago med is a good show but its just that chicago fire and chicago pd get all the spotlight cause all 3 shows take place in the same continuity. they even have special crossovers between all 3 shows.
