Horace is a rescue opossum that was given to Brenda by the rehabilitators since they couldn't care for her anymore. Brenda took some time to get Horace back on track, she would eat dinner with him every night and make sure he was calm and comfortable. Now he loves people and begs for food 24/7. Unfortunately, Horace is too used to people to be released. But Brenda, together with Horace and Lily, now live their best lives together, including going to work.

First thing that gets you are the eyes, the “how cute am I?” eyes looking up at you. Then it’s the pink nose and toe beans. If you think possums are ugly, there’s gotta be something wrong with you!

I've had opossums visit me for snacks for years and I adore them! I think people are afraid of their teeth but have no idea how sweet they are! I love their little toes and black ears!❤❤
By the way, I only put out opossum healthy snacks and I don't try and bring them in close to the house. I worry they would go somewhere else not so friendly!
I somehow inherited a baby female opossum. I think she may have been a runt and was rejected. Anyway, she showed up starving, so I started feeding her outside so she would stay wild. In deep winter, she nests on my large breezeway. I named her Flower. She's very timid and quite small, but she gets fed every night, and I let her be.

Before I started watching videos of Opossums I was fearful of them. Now I absolutely LOVE them.

They do possess dreamy eyes, but they are also well fed and pampered. Adorable, and kind of ick because the only way I had ever seen them was when they were playing dead, laying there, with mouth agape and eyes all screwed up. Masters of horror. And do not tell me that tail is fun.
It's sad they have a short life span. Even as a pet. Wonderful creatures

opossums are so different to Australian possums and any other marsupial we have. they're very sweet that tail is very unusual.
I'm an Aussie too. From Melbourne and was just about to comment the same thing. I wasn't too sure about the old O'possum at first. Cause I think at first look our little guys could be considered at first glance a bit more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. But the little characters are definitely starting to grow on me, that's for sure. They seem like real little characters. And now I just love those little ears. And like you also commented that unusual tail. Horace is a great name for him as well ❤

Ok... Sooooo... fot over 2 weeks I have had opossums living under my house. Wouldn't be an issue except for the damages.
3 moms and over 39 babies I've live caught and released.... not the same ones as I've painted a mark on the tail.
YES .... I've been more than tempted to keep a baby or two or 3 as they are 'adorable" but ... I have to much respect for wildlife... but ohhhh the possibility and temptation,

From what I understand they naturally don't have long lives.
Correct. 1 or 2 yrs in the wild. 4 maybe 5 as a pet. They age quickly. Very delicate too
If your opossum lives more than 3 years you are extremely lucky.
