Some old pictures that I took inside Tibet. I visited there in October 1986 just after China and Tibet had opened up to individual backpacker travelers like me !
Travel back in time through my pictures and visit historic sights and a snapshot of local pilgrims and culture.
These pictures were taken at Kumbum Monastery in Xining, the fabled city of Lhasa with the magnificent Potala Palace as a background. Onwards to Gyantse and its preserved dzong / fortress.
Then finally on the road to Sakya Monastery, the turquoise Yamdrok lake up over high passes and snow capped mountains for a glimpse of the summit of Mount Everest.
