Street skateboarders looking to make it to the next Olympic Games are hitting up WST Lausanne Street 2023 from 9-16 September for the next stop on the qualification road to Paris 2024.
The event, streaming live on CZcams, Olympics.com and the official Olympics app, will see Olympic stars including Horigome Yuto, Rayssa Leal and Nyjah Huston, meet in the Beaulieu District to battle it out for the number one prize. And with the Games approaching, the competition for ranking points - also on offer based on finishing positions - is heating up.
Just like with the previous skateboarding Olympic qualifying events, the competition will begin with a men’s and women’s open qualifier with the top 27 advancing to the quarter-finals. There, the top five skaters, who are pre-seeded owing to their Olympic World Skate Ranking, will join the contest.
The field will then be cut down in a semi-final leaving just eight skaters for the men’s and women’s finals on Saturday 16 September.
The open qualifiers and quarter-finals will use the best score of two 45-second runs while the semi-final and final will use the Olympic street format - 2/5/3.

Women's Competition starts at 16:45 men's at 1:32:33 mark.
"I'm doing my part!"
Thanks ^^
nice gesture Aurelian! one happy kid
Get well soon Funa
This is the best Nyjah performance I’ve seen in a minute. Mad props to one of the goats. 👌
Giovanni's run was underrated. Nyjah pulled up tho.
Nyjah did the 4th or 5th best run - but was the only one to score 90.
Tury repeats the heelflips and 0 switch tricks
@@Fubiun I wasn’t including Tury in the 4 with better runs than Nyjah.
@@richrollin4867More tricks. Pay attention.
@@johnmeehan7884 Runs aren’t scored by trick counts.
I just did not expect this level of competition on a 9 stair hand rail. Back in the 80s and 90s, we might see a 9 stair hand rail and think, 'wow, THAT'S a 9 stair hand rail.' But now, the progression of skateboarding has led us to not 5, six, seven, or eight, but NINE stairs on this hand rail. And the angle of it? Steep. Big. Just like a 9 stair hand rail i would see back when i was riding a 5 inch curb to work every day.
the fact that its also considered a small 9 star handrail is also wild hahahah
My brother is yelling "Allez Yuto!" at the end of Nyjah training line "cut" starting @1:26:45 we were quite hyped about the event
Allez Vianna! I was hyped cheering for Gio! and happy to see the world's national skaters there.
Skateboarders were all over Lausanne x10 and in the Trains to airports, it felt unreal, kinda like homies EVERY WHERE haha Hola Mexico Vans team i took the train with !
I think tury has locked kelvin hoefler in a cupboard somewhere
😂😂😂
Yuto scored 96.95 and still cant smile
They should introduce that “zero points for repeated tricks” rule as in street league, as Manny says!
Manny hit the nail on the head. Makes the contest super boring for anyone watching. On top of that it’s kinda an integrity issue for the skaters doing it, not keeping things on the up and up
drink every time Chris says 'one hundred percent'
The level... Just the freaking level ALL of them are on. Men, Women.. 30 or 13 (just that is in it self insane).
Another thing - that isn't even comparable to 20 years ago, is how Pro also everything around the skating is now. Meaning the schedules for workouts, restitution and nutrition (just that even being a thing today). Today skatebaorders are just like any top athlete. No matter the sport.
That was a heater! Stoked with the results, though I still think Tury's runs were very underrated...
Kairi was very underscored
2:03:40 Nyjah does a casual nollie heel backlip while waiting for his run score 😂
Aurelian is the real champ after handing over his board to the lucky kid!
So happy for momiji!!! She deserved it
ginwoo chillin in the crowd
His run at the x games was so insane
Momiji is a great skateboarder
how did vianna get scored less for the 270 nose blunt? he landed much cleaner. judges were scoring this one weird
maybe because he does all his tricks fakie they deduct some points and also because the japanese guy did the trick first
Also it could be because someone else landed it before him
@@Skateboardfreakist but he landed much better. i think if he lands it better he should be rewarded points
@@kyanokashi7501Not when you copy tricks.
he tried it before the japanese guy....@@johnmeehan7884
Really? 720p...
No kidding. Cmon at least stream 1080p.
First world problems
Am I the only one seeing Manny Santiago in Tury? He’s got to be a huge inspiration to Tury. Same style, same tricks etc 😄
Sasaki's run should've been in the 90s
Momiji Nishiya is the best!!! style and tricks and above all he has talent and he has stateboarding in his heart! 💙 Momiji Nishiya 💙
These new japanese kids have unlimited style. So fun to watch!
No, they all have the same style.
@@UrsusArctos8if you speak of the women, the definitely do not have the same style.
Funa has the hands out front like she’s trying to stop a moving car style prepping by for tricks.
Liz has a trick prepping style where she is bouncing up and down all tensed up as if she’s on a bouncing castle before she pops.
And Momiji has her arms totally relaxed as if she doesn’t need balance and could skate as a double amputee.
They all have very different styles.
That was such a great Comp with So Many NBDs
Nobody’s????
@@saltmacmedia2014 never Been Done
Toa's second run was tight. He got 8 tricks in and nearly all were flip. He had speed and oushed hard. Nice to watch that run!
Toa?
Tury got robbed on that First run score. That was a 9x run. not a 78.
Straight up! All those flip tricks.
Definitely were favoring the Japanese. Like that sloppy heel flip back tail got like a 90. Haha
All that favoring tho, and Nyjah still taking it!
maybe an 82-85 run but not more
He normally gets robbed.
No variety in his tricks, not a single body rotation tricks
@@zonertube everyone can can 270 lip. How many people do heel flip front lip, or big spin heel board slide??
All in a run. He was robbed with that score.
It was such a great contest and park. Very cool! Kairi was my favorite this weekend!
Clearly the judges hate Richard Tury.
78 for that first run? I thought that was extremely harsh
Rayssa Leal ❤❤❤❤
First Mens run at 1:32:49
thnx ;)
2:07:12 first men's best trick
SLS pay attention, one run score SHOULD be required, consistency is important
Why is the quality so low? Only 720p ....😅
❤Go Nyjah!!!😮😊 You're Awesome!!❤
lol
anyone else notice the sky matching the course? so pretty lol
Richard Tury is like a Kelvin lookalike, but skates as Manny Santiago only more consistent..
I was expecting Yutos new special to be scored a little higher
since he did it already on sls tokyo so its no longer nbd
even still though, that is a hefty maneuver @@denisk886
It should have been 99.. by the standards that a nollie heel bs lip still gets like 91.. the difficulty level is atleast 8-10 points.. and yuto did it on a monster hubba
Let’s gooo!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Oh my goodness Eric Koston and his interviews, you can tell he’s nervous 😂
At 1:51:44 why is it a bigger flip frontside boardslide and not a 360 flip frontside boardslide? You don't say backside flip to frontside boardslide when you do a kickflip frontside boardslide.
Kairi & yukito 1st runs were massively underscored
yes and nyjah once again massively overscored, maybe chill on all american judges
The new guys are always underscored. It's annoying. Eventually they'll be overscored.
Giovanni and Richard Tury got robbed so hard in their run scores
Ginwoo looking super sad behind Nyjah at 2:04:14 🤣🤣
thx to comentator within minutes 2:22:29 Manny had stopped commenting...LOL,
I respect him as a pro since 2010 but I don't like the way he thinks, which is not appropriate.
well deserved win for Nyjah, amazing 🔥
Rayssa Leal é a melhor de 2023 ❤❤❤❤
So sad girard didnt get that hardflip front board
What a skater this guy got snubbed SOTY last year
they werent having it with manny comin at the rulebook😂
Do you think Tury did enough heelflip tricks?
Not enough fs heel variations!
Really sad to see how melancholy Funa looked after she hurt her wrist, poor thing :(
what hat is Koston wearing? can’t find it anywhere
Tury is pulling insane tricks. Where did that dude come from??
forreal bro never heard of him before this 🤯
Slovakia
He’s been around. He just doesn’t skate SLS and the big comps. Idk why
he's been doing the same tricks since he started in a big competition a year ago. Yes they are nice tricks, but he never changes his trickset. If he did, he could go pretty far.
Yea Nyjah!!
USA baby let’s go!!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
He never deserved the win, sorry but Yuto was simply better, everyone knows it
@@reformed_christian_teaching Yuto should have gotten a better run score then.
@@reformed_christian_teaching You know nothing about skate, all you know is GoLd MeDaL bR0!
Gold medal .. plus all the times he made nyjah and his fans butthurt.. makes Yuto the GOAT
Dumb data, you should have fun with this one!
I could go on about alot of things but the biggest stand out was in the semi's. Gustavo did a gap to FS Noseblunt nollie heel out, and he scored (90.98) which was lower than Jinwoo's gap to FS blunt kickflip out (92.17) on the exact same obsticle.
That's because a fs noseblunt is easier than a front blunt fakie.
Sorry mate, but i have to disagree. That would also mean a FS board to fakie is harder than a FS lip (the body & board turns are almost the same for that comparison).
More than happy for you to explain and i'll admit im wrong. Until then im standing tall on my opinion.
giving richard tury such a low run score is just messed up.
is there more qualification steps / city to visit before the olimpics?
2:07:42 wish there was the pre-qualifiers to view. Would love to see what manny threw down
34:59
I ain’t know she was that chill 🫡
Complimenti a tutti , oltre il limite flip fs feeble Yumeka oda
Respect to all the competitors and everyone that had a part in this event, but WHY is this only in 720p?????????
“Thirteen years of age”
Then there’s me who started skating at 23 😂🤦♂️
I feel that lmao (27)
Vianna the best!
Why is video in available I want to watch please
one of the better comps I've seen
Momiji Nishiya has the most beatiful style ever .
Momiji has such a steezy style
The judge is not doing the job:(
Great to hear Koston’s perspective
Japanese skaters are dominating the finals line up!!
Yet losing when it mattered.
@@johnmeehan7884win for women bro and get second for men so what
Rayssa is going to grow up to be a beast. That girl is a diamond
Not really
TURY DESERVED BETTER SMH
This level of skating is ridiculous.
To the end it is a bit sad seeing Yuto being stuck bc of that 75
I don't get why Heyn's point didn't go up when she scored a 77? 243.93 + 77.26 still equals 243.93? Can someone please explain this?
Koston is in Lausanne?!😮
Nyjah 👍👍👍👍👍
How do the commentators not even know about the repeat trick no score rule from sls? Like do they not watch sls and other contest smh! I cld see if it's a pro or someone that doesn't announce much but that's been a big deal the last year or two!
Tury look like he's ready for Hockey
If Yuto didn’t mess up his run he would’ve won no problem 😂
Stop crying
Thats not necessarily true
Nyjah touched the rail still making more points than all that had a flawless run lol
judges just trying to make him feel better cuz he'll never win soty
Pamela is awesome.
Could you please tell me the title of the song that's playing at 2:18:03?
Oda and the kickflip feeble
A fairytale rooted in reality
Richard Tury gets a 78 and Nyah gets a 90. I thought Richards run was at least a 85
Awesome contest!
69.52 for that yuto run? no way
Two times in a row for Nyjah?! Amazing. He got like 4 90s in a row 👀
Vanna's last trick possibly underscored
Não entendi essa de 0 nas notas alguém explica ai 🙅🏾♂️?
What’s up with the two Japanese skaters wearing Nike sb shirts? Don’t they skate for DC ?
Yukito and kairi
Liz Akama wears Nike shirt with Asics on
@liamjduxj1287 I was looking for this comment…I was thinking the same thing, but I guess brand misappropriation doesn’t matter in this age of skating if they’re doing it openly in contest 🤷🏾♂️
Thank you for having Eric Koston on. Mad dude.
Could barely listen to him, just stuttering barely got any words out
Glad Manny got on the mic
Rayssa Leal is just a master at her craft and shes just getting started... these girls are actually starting to creep close the Ryan Shecklers of the world when he first was in The X games .
these narrators are nothing short of OBNOXIOUS
there are more and more japanese skaters on the rise
Im a huge fan of Nyjah Huston and havnt finished this contest yet. Im halfway through 2nd runs and i agree thayt the scoring is a bit off. I coildnt make sense of it. And definitely didnt unferstand why Nys first run was an 86 and first place. Not hating but the scoring was strange on this one. Lets see how the comp plays out.
