    Thanks so much! Had 65 mph winds here last night in Ky and it blew my shutter off. Now I’m ready to leap into action. 😉 Appreciate it! 💪🏼

    My shutters were all installed the same way as yours. However, most came off and had to be replaced. This time, after drilling out the holes, I secured the fasteners with clear silicone caulk in the hole and then tapped in the fasteners. No problem since then.

    Great advice on not having to use concrete anchors. This looks like it will be a much easier job what I had imagined also appreciated the advice to go into brick, and not the mortar, especially since they had recommended going into the mortor and not the brick.

    I've had to put my shutters back up several times over the years because of those stupid plugs. You DO need screws and anchors. Apparently you don't get wind or storms where you are at.

      Most definitely you are correct. I don't think he's hung very many

    • @Cajun-it3yf
      @Cajun-it3yf Před rokem

      Correct. You need screws and anchors. If there is any wind, they will eventually fall off. I replaced all of mine one time with the anchor setup and it’s lasted over 20 years.

    💥 Informative and entertaining thank you. Is 1/4 inch the masonry bit size that is needed to drill into the brick for the plastic spikes that come with the shutters?

    Hey! I'm in GA. Will you come do mine? 🙏🙂 There's already holes from the old shutters. I thought it might be doable but not so sure I can trust myself to do it right. Lol
    Thanks for the laughs 😃
    Sidenote:
    When I was in HighSchool, Mom asked me "Don't you know any guys to date that doesn't drive a TRUCK!?!"
    I said " Nope!" 😂😂

    Do you absolutely have to have a hammer drill? I would love to do this job myself because my landlord doesn't maintain the property I live in. They're personal friends so if I purchase the shutters, they'll just take it off my rent. But I'd love to do the job alone. I just have a regular run-of-the-mill every day drill.

    • @wholt89
      @wholt89 Před rokem +2

      Yes you can use a regular drill. It may take a little longer to get through the mortar but it is doable

  • @paidinfull5950
    @paidinfull5950 Před rokem

    I’ve never heard of anyone drilling into the brick, only mortar joints 🧐 🤔

    As I watch this video for learning purposes, I start to realize this is just a waste of time. These shutters serve no purpose, only aesthetic. Kind of pointless

      You're right. If you think about it, the majority of houses are decorations. And we stick a big decoration, a lawn, in front of it.

    Tying your cords into a tight knot like that causes damage to the wires inside.

    • @jackofalltradeswithmatt9965
      @jackofalltradeswithmatt9965 Před rokem

      It's not going to hurt the drop cord doing this. And it's the best way to connect the two cords. Thell keep coming unplugged if your actually working and moving around. Not being rude but sounds like you've never had to use a drop cord

    • @dirkgibbens377
      @dirkgibbens377 Před rokem

      I've been doing it that way for 40 years. Still waiting for that first cord to be damaged. I have replaced a few cords for various reasons, so not all the same cords that whole time. But I do know the one I use most often is the same one I've had for almost 30 years.

    Before you call them “shutters,” ask yourself whether they can be used to “shut” the windows. These are not shutters, just imitations thereof.

  • @ashleyb7189
    @ashleyb7189 Před rokem

    You'Vve knocked the bottom left fastner in too far and dimpled the shutter !

    This is the worst way to install vinyl shutters. The PVC pins break from the suns UV.
    Very poor design. This will become a high matintenace issue over the years of home ownership.👎🏻
