Super useful and cute video! I almost bought a Hammer drill because I'm trying to drill through brick to install an A/C Window Unit Bracket but I see I just need a special masonary drill bit to use with my existing power drill AND thank you so much for specifiy that the masonary drill bit is supposed to be shorter than the anchor drill, saved me a headache!
Good video! After watching and drilling into brick I must add these tips drilling into heavier, denser brick. 1: Use good quality bit. 2: Low and steady rpms and occasionally higher rpm vs constant high rpm produces easier drilling. 3: Use compressed air to keep brick dust from building up in the holes.
Thanks for this info. I'm having a terrible time getting a contractor who will do this. My regular guy said it could not be done because it would damage the brick. I also asked at Home Depot and was told it could not be done. In watching your video, it obviously IS possible! Now if only I can find someone who has the tools and will do the work!
Just want to say thank you so much. I been trying to find a video that simply explains what I need to drill into brick. I want to install my ring door bell on my brick house but dont know what tools I need.Today I stumble across this video.Thank you so much!
If later you don't need the stuff you attached to the wall you can use plumbers putty to seal the hole or just leave the screw in there. That becomes really important if you live somewhere where water freezes in winter or the water can begin widening & cracking from the hole.
LOL my chickens are always all around me, too! I'm in the process of TRYING To put up a greenhouse I built....we shall see how that goes. i'm glad to have found your video. The concrete screws I bought came with the drill bit, so that is helpful. Thank you for mentioning that the drill bit should be smaller than the screw itself. Don't worry about the negative comments, some people just don't see positivity in anything! Have a wonderful day and thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Funny I enquired about getting a chicken yesterday only to find out chickens need company so I need at least 2. Today I needed to drill into some brick to install a garden hose real. So Thankyou very muck problem solved masonry drill bit I get tomorrow and maybe soon I’ll get some chickens. I’ll continue to watch to see what you do. Cheers!😃👍
I tried the same thing. It took forever to drill just about an inch deep. The bit was new. The drill didn't have hammer feature. It would be nice to know what I am missing.
those chicks are SO CUTE!! awww!! and thank you, i had no idea the drill bit had to be smaller. im doing a project with my brick wall in the house, and had no idea how to drill into it. thanks for this video! - Mommy Vee (Not my daughter in my thumbnail) lol
This is so cute. Those chicks 💘 In UK I've always only used a plastic expanding wall plug & screw to secure items for 30 years plus. Those fixing screws/ wall dogs are amazing xx
Sounds silly but thank you so much for this vid! I could not understand why my drill wasnt working on brick, after countless videos this one helped me realised where I was going wrong! Now sorted - thank you! X
Randall Ledbetter Looks like she successfully drilled into it without a hammer drill. If you think a hammer drill is necessary for drilling into brick, you don’t know how to drill.
Tapcons (trademark) is another name for these screws that go into masonry, cement, mortar or concrete. Take whatever you want to hang so you know what diameter screw you need, then check the screw packaging and it will tell you what size drill bit you need. Small packs sometimes come with the drill bit. (Not affiliated with Tapcon, I just use them). Oh, it helps if you use a 'hammer' drill, since it vibrates/hammers the bit in as it turns.
Thank you for sharing. I came here because I tried the Ryobi masonry drill bit (Impact Rated Masonry Set (3-Piece) and it DOES NOT drill through the brick. 😒 What brand of masonry drill bit did you use?
Hi Yesenia. Sorry, I just got this message - I honestly, usually just buy middle of the road drill bits. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive. I can't remember what brand they all are exactly. ~ karen!
It’s one thing to drill into a brick wall without a respirator, and it’s another thing to blow out the debris. But inhaling all that silica dust you just drilled and blew out is on a whole new level.
An Excellent explanation of the subject !! Thank You ! Laszlo Montreal Photog. Could you please tell me the brand name of your Retractable Srewdriver? Thanks.
No safety goggles, no hand protection, no breathing filters. Oh, dear... The chickens are cute, but someone trying to follow these steps will loose an eye.
Helpful, thanks! One of the commentators below mentioned something about the speed of the drill and that its important to use a drill that has the 'high speed' setting you used to drill. Fair comment? (i've no idea - not drilled into brick, ... yet! )
elephantarmy I drill into , brick, block, concrete all the time. I can vouch for that comment if your drill is a hammer drill put it on speed two. Even a standard drill with masonry bit could benefit from higher speed though give the bit breaks to cool off.
People keep saying, use a drum drill... But what if you don't have one. Buy one of curse... Well they aren't really free or cheap so I really think that the best thing to do is changing house it's much more cheap that buying a new drill
Hi Karen, You make it all look so easy! My problem is that I purchased a very heavy entryway hook and shelf, it is 60 inches long. I spent a good part of an afternoon assembling it with my 11 year old. The next step was to find the wall studs to anchor it to the wall and lo and behold, there are no studs. I remembered a worker telling me that I have drywall over a single layer of brick....very inefficient but none the less. I'd be drilling through the dry wall to the brick so I can't see where on the brick I'm drilling. Does it matter where the drill goes? into the mortar or brick? or both at the same time? and how deep should the anchor be? Any other advice?
Hi im a new subscriber. I am going to be putting chicken wire fencing up but will need to put posts up first. Do i need raw plugs for the screws to hold the screw n fence weight? Love ur chickies btw way.
Its not fair. I want to see the whole brood - all the chickens and the mother. I am surprised the mother did not attack you when you picked up her chicks. You should have just shown the whole chick set instead of saying hi to chickens! Perhaps its because they are a little bit older now. Helpful video.
hi, where did you get that drill bit? and what does it call? we run in to the issue and cant drill a hole into the brick at all, although we are using the carbide masonry drill bit. thanks.

604 dislikes are from jealous manly dudes who failed at drilling 😂
I failed to drill, and I need it done now. But she wouldn't get to the point. So -1.
instaBlaster.
If you have soft brick you don’t need a masonry drill bit
That must be it
😂😂😂 yo this is the best comment I've seen on here!!!

I just hot glued mine to the brick
Or you could buy silicone glue

Fuck. Read your comment after I put my new house numbers up.
@@hulmad- 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How much water is going to penetrate a 3/8 hole. Lol
I must have typed in chickens by accident
Good one 😂😇
I was looking for instruction on Drilling into brick but now I am in Love!!!!!!
Thanks this is simple yet saves me a lot knowing I don't need a hammer drill.

Actually had the info I needed. Masonry Bit for brick has a sort of hammer head. Thanks. My DIY went up 2+

Always love learning this stuff from a female! Thank you!
I tried the same thing. It took forever to drill just about an inch deep. The bit was new. The drill didn't have hammer feature. It would be nice to know what I am missing.
Came to learn how to drill into brick...once finished, I HAD to go and watch the chickens try out the chicken swing!
Went through 10 ridiculously complicated videos to find the perfect one. Succinct PLUS chickens!
Thanks for teaching us how to drill a hole in the brick......Now we need some chickens.
Best 30 second video ever.
Learned more about chickens than drilling
She has the “let me speak to your manager” haircut
Trumps sister
😂😂😂
If she's a Karen then we have to get the manager
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
She seems more a "Sandra" than a "Karen" though... HIIIII CHICKENS!
Foxy lady, useful tips for drilling into brick. Adorable chickens. 10/10
I’ve got an 18v drill and that same drill tip but I can’t drill into my brick at all. It just makes a little dent. What am I doing wrong
those chicks are SO CUTE!! awww!! and thank you, i had no idea the drill bit had to be smaller. im doing a project with my brick wall in the house, and had no idea how to drill into it. thanks for this video! - Mommy Vee (Not my daughter in my thumbnail) lol
I think the reason the screws and drill bits not matching is that you would use a plug in the hole.
I adore you thank you for making this look easy☺️
Ok I think I love you! I love how you got distracted by the chickens and made me giggle, thanks for the tips and smiles!!
Thanks and good luck with the chicks!!
This is so cute. Those chicks 💘

Was in for the drilling, but as a bird person, got hooked by the cute little chicks.
Are you using a hammer drill? I’m having a lot of trouble with my regular drill. Thank you!
Me too. I feel weak 😭
Is that a hammer drill or a normal drill? Thanks for the video, love the chicks btw :)
Incredibly helpful
What screwdriver is that?? 😅 It's amazing!
Might want to mention the need for a hammer drill too.
not in brick

Great informative video. Very clear and easy to understand.

Very nice. Cute lady and very handy
Awesome video very helpful!! I'm seeing this from São Paulo Brazil! Thank you 😀

She has a "sir this mustard is too hot" type of haircut
Coolest DYI ever! The baby chicks come before the "stuff". Ain't love wonderful?
What type of drill you are using ? Is it Hammer drill ??
I love chickens too!!!! I talk them just like you do!!! Thank you for the info. I have to do this soon!
I loved it. Thanks for the tutorial and thanks for the chicks!
4:26 Suddenly I'm very nervous for those chickens? 😲
I got 2 minutes and 32 seconds into this 30 second video before bailing to watch videos on chickens. Did I miss anything?
Great video!! Thank you!! Love your chicken swing!
When she showed the baby chicks the place where she was going to drill! 😂 I love it!
Thanks for the great video and showing us your adorable chicks!
What a cool lady. Love the short hair!
I love this. But let's not call it 30-seconds :)
Super cute that you took a second to kiss the chickens.
I had to go back and watch it again, Gwynn. I didn't remember kissing the chicken. But yep. I did, lol. ~ karen!
Love this super helpful!!❤
what screw driver were you using?
Karen, you are cuter than the chickens. Liked your video!
chickens cause rats and foxes
Very helpful, thanks for posting.
what kind of drill is that
"hi chicken!" Got me hahaha
What if I need to go all the way thru? What's the name of that piece but longer? Trying to run wires
Great video. Thanks for the info.
Hi This was great! I love the cute chicks! What kind of drill do you have? It looks really easy for you to put that bit in.
Thank you hun! Hell time trying find way do w/ regular tools, thank you.
Yay! Learned what I needed to know and saw some chickens.

Brick. Always into brick. Mortal will crumble.
I truly appreciate this awesome information

A hammer drill would be a bonus. Will drill twice as fast, easier on the drill bit
Is it true that once you unscrew the hole is damaged and you can't screw back the same way?
*d r i i l l i n g i n t o b r i c k*
Nice video 👍🏼
But safety glasses 👓 please
I'm just here looking for the swinging chicken follow up video.. can someone post a link ??
czcams.com/video/KuMG7EKc4jc/video.html
her stopping to show us the chicks made me feel like I was right there with her 🥺😭
OMG I want, scratch that, I NEED a swtich blade screwdriver 😯
Nicely done!
I'm also a big fan of chickens! Tuesday specials at popeyes :)
Lol! Me, too! 😂

30 seconds hahahahhhahahaha... thanks for the info :)
I would recommend wearing safety glasses when doing this
Good video and way to keep your audiences attention
I wasn’t prepared for the deep impact those chicks would have on my day 👌
U didn’t show drill function like do we need a hammer function or torque
I love this video so much! Helpful. Entertaining. Real. And short. Hitting the subscribe button NOW!
And a big HI to the drill bits!
hi,
where did you get that drill bit? and what does it call? we run in to the issue and cant drill a hole into the brick at all, although we are using the carbide masonry drill bit. thanks.
Hammer drill for doing a lot of holes and a power impact driver for the screws.....much faster.......
what kind of drill is this
so no wall plugs?
Call her the chicken lady..lol
i think the bricks im drilling must have been made with dimonds in them even the hammer drill hardly made it in 5 mm
Is caulk necessary when putting the anchors in?
very attractive woman. enjoyed the video
I thought you needed a hammer drill for drilling into brick, no? I've been putting a couple of projects off bc I don't have one.
A bit late on my reply, but nope, lol. You don't need a hammer drill. Brick really isn't all that hard and doesn't need one.
I came to learn to drill into a brick wall, and I stayed for the chicks
