It was quick, gas mileage was terrible and parts weren't cheap (my dad used it as a daily driver), but every time I heared that V8, I knew I was having fun. Doug you missed some really fun quirks:
    - Air compressor for blowing tyres located under the seat (the actual compressor pump is in the trunk but you can put that hose thing into the passenger's front seat)
-Cigarette lighters/charging places underneath the glovebox where passenger's feet would be
-My GTS has a hidden compartment between the rear seats which expanded a quite long fabric that would go through the trunk. Figured that was a Ski pocket where you can put your ski gear in the trunk and they extend between the seats but the fabric would wrap it so no snow gets inside the seats

It is surprising to me that when we go snowmobiling or even drag the trailer to the track, how often that I'm stopped and asked "you're pulling that (22' V-nose trailer) with this?" And the other was when a guy in Ford pickup rolled down his window at a traffic light and asked is the trailer empty?? Of course it wasn't.... I had both of the first two on the track and they were both awesome!! I can't wait to get my gen 3 turbo on the track this summer. Both of my son's have older (gen 1) GTS and one of them is a manual. I have a 2009 Cayenne GTS, although it's the automatic 6-speed, and have taken it to the track and up in the mountains on logging roads - remarkably capable in both cases. The 2009 tech is a bit dated, but I still love the car. You missed the quirks about the 12v power plugs in the passenger foot well, double visors for driver and passenger, the mirror assist for parallel parking (passenger mirror drops to show the curb), heated steering wheel (perhaps that's an option?), and buttons on back of steering wheel to control lights on steering wheel buttons. Don't forget it can tow 7700 pounds, and sport mode also opens valves in the exhaust for a sportier sound.

I bought a '14 CGTS late last year and I can confirm it's an amazing suv....it handles like nothing else. Mine is PDCC equipped and I was keeping up with C8 vettes and bmw m4 through Tail of the Dragon, which is unreal for a 5k lb SUV! A proper ballerina. My previous car was a Maserati GranTurismo, and the GTS out accelerates, out-handles, and out performs that car in every measurable way while also being able to tow 7800 lbs, go off road, and carry 5 people in luxury and comfort. It's an amazing vehicle and so far has been rock solid at almost 80k miles. This gen of Cayenne didn't come with the manual but the 8 speed tiptronic is super, super quick. If you've ever driven a Macan, the shifts are as quick as the DCT in that. They are rev matched in sport mode, but obviously it's not quite as smooth as DCT. But it's very rapid, and the added benefit is an extra gear and the ability to tow huge amounts. I would love to drive one of these manuals one day super super cool truck!!!

I have no lights or catastrophic issues but the front end for example needs some work. Bushings/control arms etc. Parts are very expensive. So are basic things like oil changes, tires, etc. Make sure you can afford out of warranty maintenance for a 6 figure car and know most of it will be deferred when you buy it😂 but if you can it’s really a solid vehicle

Doug, the button on the wiper stalk that controls the little screen has been standard on all VW products for quite some time. At least from the mid 90s to the early 2010s. Quite intuitive when you use it for a little bit.
The parking lights are actually a legal requirement in Europe, there are certain situations where you are supposed to turn them on, and in order to not drain the battery as much it is like that on many European cars, leave the blinker on turns on the parking light on that side.

Doug, there is minimal turbo lag in a 955/957 generation Cayenne (sounds like you need to drive one, you can visit me and review/drive mine!!!). This isnt late 80's early 90's turbo lag here (I have had many turbos over the years and still do). Maybe not like a 2022 turbo application, but you dont need to ring it out to 4000 rpm and then it smacks you in the back. I get the ~0.6-0.8 bar at ~ 2600 rpm. The relatively big engine displacement and not overly big turbos are the reasons. Peak torque is at 2250 rpm, so maybe even quicker spool up than I am noticing via the tac.

Yea this gen aged really well, if I wasn’t a car person at all it looks like it could be current model year

@@alp.9672 it aged well indeed, at least the models with nice specs. But also just the design alone i prefer over the newer models, these are so clean. From all angles

I really miss when Doug was doing the dougscore the old way, he took the time to explain all of the scores one by one, now it feels a little bit rushed

People complained the videos were too long, so this is what you have instead. Frankly it's better this way anyway -- now I get to give a good, full summary of the car instead of "Like every car in this class, practicality is a 7 out of 10" or whatever.

@@DougDeMuro I love your work and the channel, I have to say I agree with this commenter that I like the recap with the individual explanations of each number. It feels like a nicer conclusion to me.

Aw man, these look so much better with a black interior. I remember when my friend got one in high school. Such a sick car in 2009.
